* Brushes will NOT turn if the machine is in upright position
- Turn machine off and unplug it
- Recline machine and remove tank
- Turn machine over so the back of the machine is facing up
- Check the brush roll for any debris wrapped around it
- Remove any obstructions
- Turn brush by hand
- Look for damage to the brush roll or belt
- If there is damage to the brush, a replacement should be ordered
- If the belt is damaged or broken, follow the instructions below to change the belt
- Turn machine back over, put the tank back on, stand machine up
- Plug machine in and turn it on
- Recline handle and look to see if the brush is turning
- If the problem persists, visit a BISSELL Authorized Service Center or Contact Us
How to Change a Belt
- Turn the machine off and unplug it
- Recline the handle
- Remove the tank
- Turn machine over so the bottom of the machine is facing up
- Locate the belt access door on the left side of the brush roll and remove the two screws on it
- Remove brush belt – this belt is cogged
- Inspect it for damage and put it aside
- Remove pump belt – this belt is smooth
- Inspect for damage, if it is cracked or stretched put in a replacement belt
- Attach the pump belt to the silver motor shaft
- Pull other side of belt over the larger red pulley
- Attach cogged brush belt by sliding it over the brush roll then loo it around the pulley
- Put the access door back onto the machine
- Replace the screws
