Smart Sprinkler Controller

Quick Start Guide

The Smart Sprinkler Controller comes with a magnetic faceplate,
screws x3 anchors x3, power adapter, and wire label stickers.
Before you begin, make sure you have a smartphone or tablet,
screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead), and a level (optional). The
setup takes approximately 30 minutes.

Level (optional)

Step 1: Download the Moen Smart Water App and create an
account

Download the Moen Smart Water App from the Apple App Store or
Google Play Store. Once installed, create your account. Scan to
download the Moen Smart Water App on your iOS or Android
device.

Step 2: Before installation

Test your signal strength by plugging in the Moen Smart
Sprinkler Controller at the installation location and following the
prompts in the Moen Smart Water app to register the device to your
account. Verify that your network signal is strong enough to reach
the controller before proceeding with the installation.
Test your existing sprinkler system to ensure sprinklers are
working properly.
For safety, unplug your sprinkler system.
Photograph the wiring inside your existing controller to
reference during installation.
Place matching wire labels on existing wires before
uninstalling the old controller.
Unplug and remove your existing controller from the wall.

Step 3: Mount your Smart Sprinkler Controller

Position the Smart Sprinkler Controller on the wall.
Hang the Smart Sprinkler Controller on the screw from the top
hole on the back of the device.
Use a level to level your Smart Sprinkler Controller on the
wall (optional).
Mark location for bottom anchors and screws. Screw the last two
provided screws into the bottom two holes into the wall.

Step 4: Connect your wires

While referencing the photo of your previous wiring and/or the
applied wire labels, insert the wires into the appropriate
terminals.

Step 5: Plug in the AC power adapter and add your Smart
Sprinkler Controller to your account

Open the Moen Smart Water App and tap at the top of your
homepage. Follow the prompts in the App to add your Smart Sprinkler
Controller to your account if you have not already done so. Once
your Smart Sprinkler Controller is online, the light bar at the top
of the controller will light up green. You can now attach the
magnetic faceplate.

Step 6: Complete set-up in the Moen Smart Water App

Use the Moen Smart Water App to customize your zones and create
schedules.

Know your controller

Power your controller on by connecting the AC power adapter and
plugging it into an outlet.

STEP 1
Download the Moen Smart Water App and create an account
You can find the Moen Smart Water App on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. Once you’ve installed the App, create your account.
Scan to download the Moen Smart Water App on your iOS or Android device.

STEP 2

Before installation:

1. Test your signal strength
Plug in Moen Smart Sprinkler Controller at the installation location and follow the prompts in the Moen Smart Water app to register the device to your account.
Verify that your network signal is strong enough to reach the controller. Make sure your controller is able to connect before proceeding with the installation.

4. Photograph wiring
Photograph the wiring inside your existing controller to reference during installation.
5. Wire label stickers
Place matching wire labels on existing wires before uninstalling the old controller.

2. Test sprinklers
Test your existing system to ensure sprinklers are working properly.

6. Remove existing controller
Unplug and remove your existing controller from the wall.

3. Turn off power
For safety, unplug your sprinkler system.

STEP 3

Mount your Smart Sprinkler Controller

1. Position
Remove your Smart Sprinkler Controller’s magnetic faceplace. Use the provided anchors if screwing directly into drywall. Screw one of the provided screws into the wall. The Smart Sprinkler Controller will sit ½” higher than the position of this screw. Leave ¼” of the screw head away from the wall.

3. Level (optional)
Use a level to level your Smart Sprinkler Controller on the wall.

2. Attach
Hang your Smart Sprinkler Controller on the screw from the top hole on the back of the device.

4. Secure
Mark location for bottom anchors and screws. Screw the last two provided screws into the bottom two holes into the wall.

STEP 4
Connect your wires
While referencing the photo of your previous wiring and/or the applied wire labels, insert the wires into the appropriate terminals.

Plug in the AC power adapter and add your Smart Sprinkler Controller to your account
Open the Moen Smart Water App and tap at the top of your homepage. Follow the prompts in the App to add your Smart Sprinkler Controller to your account if you have not already done so.
Once your Smart Sprinkler Controller is online, the light bar at the top of the controller will light up green. You can now attach the magnetic faceplate.

STEP 6
Complete set-up in the Moen Smart Water App
Now that the controller is online, use the Moen Smart Water App to customize your zones and create schedules.
