Introduction
This text assists users to have a preliminary understanding of the Holtek touch key products, the BSxx series of devices, to enable them to quickly and accurately select the most suitable device for their application. The product types, product advantages and classifications are described in this application note.
Product Type
Touch Key IC Standard Type – ASIC Type
No program development is required – easy to use The sensitivity can be adjusted by an external capacitor or a communication interface
Touch Flash MCU – MCU Type
Required to write MCU programs higher application flexibility and diversity Sensitivity can be adjusted by the program, eliminating the need for external capacitors According to different applications, these can be divided into three categories: standard type,
enhanced type and special type classified into three broad categories
Product Advantages
1. Excellent anti-interference ability: Excellent anti-interference ability to the external environment and EMC interference.
2. Low power consumption: Provides excellent power-saving features with devices having standby current as low as 120nA, making them suitable for portable devices.
3. Small size packages: Includes DFN and QFN small package types, making them suitable for low volume product applications
4. Fewer external components: The touch devices have a high level of functional integration which require few external components to reduce production costs.
5. Easy to develop: Holtek provides a software library to simplify development making them easy to use.

Classification Item Description
1. The main application areas for the Holtek BS range of devices include touch key, infrared, atomizer etc. For applications that do not require touch switches, users should select other MCU special function devices such as the BS45Fxxxx series.
2. For easy-to-design touch products, but which do not require program editing, users should select the standard device types.
3. For products which use an AC power supply and which require anti-CS interference functions, users should select the version C series.
4. For multiple I/O applications, large capacity and composite functions, users should select the MCU enhanced types – the BS66/67Fxxx series.
5. For voice control functions, users should select the MCU enhanced type – the BS66FVxxx series.
