Calimet Cm9-934 Edge Sensor Instruction Manual

CM9-934 Edge Sensor

Product Information

The Edge Sensor is a safety device designed to prevent accidents
by signaling the gate operator to stop if it comes in contact with
an object. It can be installed on both slide and swing gates,
providing an additional layer of security.

The Edge Sensor can be cut to match the height of your gate if
necessary. The cutting should be done from the bottom, which can be
identified by the presence of a hole on one side. The mounting
bracket can also be cut to adjust to the gate’s height.

For slide gates, the Edge Sensor is typically installed in the
rear position to monitor the open cycle, but it can also be
installed in the front position. On swing gates, it offers
flexibility and can be installed in different positions: edge,
inside next to the edge, bottom, or middle.

If you have a double slide or double swing gate, it is
recommended to install an Edge Sensor on each gate to ensure
comprehensive safety coverage.

The Edge Sensor requires 3V CR2450 coin batteries, and it is
recommended to replace them every 3-4 years. Regularly check the
safety edge(s) every month to determine if the battery needs
replacement.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. To install the Edge Sensor, follow the steps below:
  • Identify the desired position for installation based on your
gate type (slide or swing) and preference.
  • If needed, cut the Edge Sensor and mounting bracket to match
the height of your gate. Cut it from the bottom, where a hole is
    present on one side.
  • Securely attach the Edge Sensor to the gate using the provided
    mounting bracket and screws.
  • If you have a double slide or double swing gate, repeat the
installation process on each gate, placing an Edge Sensor on
    both.
  • To replace the batteries, follow these steps:
    • Ensure you have two 3V CR2450 coin batteries available.
    • Locate the battery compartment on the Edge Sensor.
    • Remove the old batteries from the compartment.
    • Insert the new batteries into the compartment, ensuring proper
      polarity.
    • Securely close the battery compartment.
  • Remember to check the safety edge(s) every month to determine
    if the battery requires replacement.

    CM9-934

The edge sensor is a safety device that tells the gate operator to stop if it comes in contact with an object. The edge sensor also serves as a secondary device to prevent accidents.

NOTE If the edge sensor is too tall for your gate, you can cut the edge sensor to match the height of your gate. Cut it from the bottom. To know which side is the bottom, look for a hole, only one side has it. You can also cut the mounting bracket to match the height of your gate.
Step 1 Install the Edge Sensor Bar · Open your gate · Install the edge sensor bracket to the edge of your gate. Screw in nails to hold it in place. · Slide the edge sensor bar into the bracket we just installed in the previous step.
STEP 2 – Install the Edge Sensor Transmitter · Install the transmitter bracket to the side of the bottom of the gate. Screw in nails to hold it in place. · Slide the transmitter on the bracket. · Place the transmitter tube into the bottom of the edge sensor bar. Push it in.
STEP 3 – Testing · Test the edge sensor with the gate closed. · If necessary, make re-adjustments so the gate closing limits has enough room to fit the edge sensor when the gate has closed.

Slide Gates The edge sensor is normally installed in the rear position to monitor the open cycle but can also be installed in the front position.
Swing Gates The edge sensor can be installed in different positions on a swing gate. 1. Edge 2. Inside next to edge 3. Bottom 4. Middle

Multiple Edge Sensors Any number of edge sensors can be installed. For double slide or double swing gates, place an edge sensor on each gate.
Battery Replacement Use 3V CR2450 coin batteries (2 quantities) to replace the batteries. On average, these batteries will last 3-4 years. Check your safety edge(s) every month to see if the battery requires a replacement.
