Hue Tap Switch
The Hue tap switch is a wireless Switch for the Hue system that triggers light scenes that you have configured in the Hue app. You can preset four scenes.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before you can use the Hue tap switch, you need to make sure you have installed the latest Hue software (app, bridge, and bulbs).
Hue tap switch works without batteries and harvests its energy when its buttons are pressed.
To select a light scene, push any button until you hear a clear “click”. Be sure to push the buttons down firmly so the big button is pressed completely.
Update Hue app and configure Hue tap switch
Check the App store or Google Play store for updates in the Philips Hue app.
To configure the Hue tap switch, open the Philips Hue app. In the side menu, go to:

- My Devices
- Connect new devices
- Switches
and follow the instructions.

Speaking of bridges, the Hue Dimmer Switch must be used in conjunction with the Hue Bridge. You’ll need to spend money on the bridge to incorporate the new switch into your Hue lighting setup if you’ve been using Bluetooth rather than Zigbee to operate your lights.
Change the lighting settings, dim or brighten the space, or choose the ideal lighting for the time of day. The Hue dimmer switch can be used as a remote control across your house and is attached to walls or magnetic surfaces.
You may connect up to 10 lights to the Philips Hue wireless dimmer switch so that they can all be controlled at once.
Once Hue lights are linked, the signal range to control them is at least 39.3 feet. While pairing or disabling Hue lights, a distance of no more than 30 cm is advised.
You may be wondering why this switch requires batteries but the Tap controller/switch does not. You won’t need to replace a battery for at least 3 years, so don’t worry. Even better, a battery is included, so after purchasing, you may start using the remote control for your lights!
Your Dimmer switch’s settings can be customized in any way using the Hue app. To personalize what each button performs when pressed once or more times, open the Hue app, go to Settings > Accessory configuration, then hit your Dimmer switch.
Last but not least, it’s okay to use dimmable electrical lights as long as you use the proper electrical light with the right switch to achieve the safest and best performance. This is the reason why non-dimmable light bulbs should never be used with dimmer switches.

A Hue dimmer switch can be connected to your system using Bluetooth or a Hue Bridge.
You can connect up to nine more Philips Hue bulbs to a single dimmer if you wish to control more than one light. Simply keep the dimmer in close proximity to the bulb (which, of course, is in a socket), depress the On button for 10 seconds or until the bulb flashes, and then let go of the button.
