50-659 Double DIN Fitting Kit for Audi Vehicles

Product Information:

The 50-659 Double DIN Fitting Kit is designed for Audi (Non-MMI)
vehicles, specifically the Audi R8 (Type 42) manufactured between
2007 and 2015. Please note that the fascia panel showcased in the
instruction manual is for Right-hand drive vehicles. The kit
includes all the necessary components for installation.

Product Usage Instructions:

Prior to Installation:

1. Read the manual thoroughly before starting the installation
process.

2. Ensure you have the necessary technical knowledge for
installation.

3. Choose a place for installation that is free of moisture and
away from heat sources.

4. Use the correct tools during installation to avoid damage to
the vehicle or product.

Dash Disassembly:

1. Use 4x radio release keys (sold separately) to release the
main head unit from the dashboard. Carefully pull out the unit and
disconnect all wiring.

2. Undo the three screws to release the main fascia.

3. Use a panel removal tool to remove the main fascia from the
dashboard. Disconnect the air vent LED connection in the
process.

Bracket Assembly:

4. Attach the brackets to the new stereo using the screws
provided in the kit. Ensure the brackets are attached upright, with
the metal tab at the top.

Dash Modification:

5. File away the inside lip of the four highlighted corners of
the main dash cavity using a file or cutting tool. Be careful not
to remove too much of the interior plastic. Test fit the unit (with
brackets attached) periodically to ensure a perfect fit.

Dash Assembly:

6. Once satisfied with the modification, connect all stereo
connections and place the head unit into the dash cavity.

7. Install the OEM fascia over the new stereo, ensuring to
connect the air vent LED connector.

Lower Bracket Installation:

8. Place the lower bracket as shown in the image and secure it
using the long bolts provided in the kit.

9. Finally, place the fascia over the lower bracket. The magnets
on the rear will hold it firmly in place, completing the
installation process.

PRIOR TO INSTALLATION

DASH DISASSEMBLY

1.

Begin by using 4x radio release keys to release the main head unit. (release keys sold separately)

Once the head unit is out, carefully pull the whole unit out of the dashboard and disconnect all of the wiring.

With the main head unit out of the dashboard, undo the following three screws to release the main

fascia.

Using a panel removal tool, remove the main fascia off the dashboard and disconnect the air vent LED

connection in the process.

BRACKET ASSEMBLY

Attach the brackets to the new stereo using the screws within the kit. These brackets need to be attached upright so that the metal tab is at the top (see image for correct orientation).

5. At this point you will need to modify the dashboard. Using a file or a cutting tool, begin to file away the inside lip of the four highlighted corners of the main dash cavity. Take due care not to remove too much of the interior plastic. During this modification, it is best to test fit the unit (with brackets attached) in between cutting, to ensure the perfect fit.

Once happy with the modification, connect any/all the stereo connections and stow the head unit into

the dash cavity (see image for correct orientation).

7.

Once the head unit is flush in the dashboard, bring back the OEM fascia and install this over the new

stereo (connecting the air vent LED connector in the

process).

Take the lower bracket and place it as seen in the image. This then needs to be screwed into place using the long bolts that come with the kit.

8. Once the lower bracket has finally been installed, place the fascia over top. The magnets found on the rear will firmly hold it in place. This will then complete the installation. 4
