The Trailer Brake Control Module is a component in the 2015
Chevrolet Silverado that allows the driver to control the brakes on
a trailer while towing. This module is an essential part of the
vehicle’s towing system and ensures safe and reliable braking on
the trailer.
Product Usage Instructions: Trailer Brake Control Module
Replacement (J95, J96)
Before replacing the Trailer Brake Control Module, ensure that
the ignition switch is turned OFF and the spare tire and wheel
assembly is lowered and secured. Follow the below steps for removal
and installation of the module:
Removal Procedure:
- Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
- Lower and secure the spare tire and wheel assembly.
- Disconnect the chassis control module and the trailer brake
power control module electrical connectors. - Loosen, but do not remove, the chassis control and trailer
brake power control module bracket bolts(1). - Slide the chassis control and trailer brake power control
module bracket toward the right of the vehicle and remove the
assembly from the vehicle. - Remove the trailer brake power control module nuts(1).
- Remove the trailer brake power control module(1)from the
bracket.
Installation Procedure:
- Install the trailer brake power control module(1)to the
bracket. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution. - Install the trailer brake power control module nuts(1)and
tighten to 9Y (80lbin). - Install the chassis control and trailer brake power control
module bracket assembly to the frame. - Slide the chassis control and trailer brake power control
module bracket assembly fully into the slotted holes of the vehicle
frame. - Tighten the chassis control and trailer brake power control
module bracket bolts(1)to 9Y (80 lbin). - Connect the chassis control and trailer brake power control
module electrical connectors. - Raise and secure the spare tire and wheel assembly.
- If installing a new trailer brake power control module, program
the module. Refer to Trailer Brake Power Module Programming and
Setup.
It is recommended to refer to the Fastener Caution and Trailer
Brake Power Module Programming and Setup instructions in the user
manual before performing the installation procedure.

Trailer Brake Control Module Replacement (J95, J96)
Removal Procedure 1. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position. 2. Lower and secure the spare tire and wheel assembly.
3. Disconnect the chassis control module and the trailer brake power control module electrical connectors.
4. Loosen, but do not remove, the chassis control and trailer brake power control module bracket bolts(1).
5. Slide the chassis control and trailer brake power control module bracket toward the right of the vehicle and remove the assembly from the vehicle.

1. Install the trailer brake power control module(1)to the bracket.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution. 2. Install the trailer brake power control module nuts(1)and tighten to9Y (80lbin).

3. Install the chassis control and trailer brake power control module bracket assembly to the frame.
4. Slide the chassis control and trailer brake power control module bracket assembly fully into the slotted holes of the vehicle frame.
5. Tighten the chassis control and trailer brake power control module bracket bolts(1)to9Y (80 lbin).
6. Connect the chassis control and trailer brake power control module electrical connectors.
7. Raise and secure the spare tire and wheel assembly.
8. If installing a new trailer brake power control module, program the module. Refer to Trailer Brake Power Module Programming and Setup.
