Power Requirements

WARNING The tool shall be grounded while in use to prevent an electric shock. · Connect the plug into a properly grounded power outlet. Not all the power outlets are duly grounded. If in doubt, verify with a certified electrician. · If the power outlet used for the tool has 2 poles (2 orifices), FOR NO REASON AT ALL DO NOT REMOVE OR ALTER THE GROUND CONNECTOR IN THE PLUG. Use a temporary adapter as shown in example E. Always connect the ground connection lug as indicated.

Working with 220 Volts

Working with 127 Volts

The motor wiring in this equipment is set to working with 220~ (see figure A). However, it does not include the power plug that matches the specific characteristics of each
users’ power supply. An example of a 220 V~plug with the
corresponding power outlet that can be adapted to the power cable in the machine, is shown in figure C. Please contact a certified electrician to set up the right and safe
installation to 220 V~.

If you want to configure the motor wiring to work in
127 V~: 1. Disconnect the equipment from the power supply. 2. Reconnect the four wires in the motor to operate 127 V~ as shown in figure B. 3. It is advisable to adapt a plug specific for 127 V~ in the machine power cable. This plug is illustrated in figure D.
Please contact a certified electrician to set up the plug. 4. In the event the available power inlet is not grounded, use an adapter (E), but only temporarily until a certified
electrician can install a grounded power inlet. Always
connect the ground conductor lug as indicated.

Line

CAUTION When using an extension cable make sure the gauge is enough for the power that your tool needs. A lower gauge cable will cause the voltage to drop in the line resulting in power loss and overheating. The following tables show the right size to be used depending on cable’s length and the ampere capability shown in the nameplate. If you have any doubts use the next higher gauge.

Safety warnings for electric tools

WARNING! Read carefully all safety warnings and instructions listed below. Failure to comply with any of these warnings may result in electric shock, fire and / or severe damage. Save all warnings and instructions for future references.

Work area Keep your work area clean, and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas may cause accidents.
Never use the tool in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Sparks generated by power tools may ignite the flammable material.
Keep children and bystanders at a safe distance while operating the tool. Distractions may cause losing control.
Electrical Safety The tool plug must match the power outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with grounded power tools. Modified plugs and different power outlets increase the risk of electric shock.
Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, electric ranges and refrigerators. The risk of electric shock increases if your body is grounded.
Do not expose the tool to rain or wet conditions. Water entering into the tool increases the risk of electric shock.

Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables a better control on the tool during unexpected situations.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair, clothes and gloves away from the moving parts. Loose clothes or long hair may get caught in moving parts.
If you have dust extraction and recollection devices connected onto the tool, inspect their connections and use them correctly. Using these devices reduce dust-related risks.
Power Tools Use and Care Do not force the tool. Use the adequate tool for your application. The correct tool delivers a better and safer job at the rate for which it was designed.
Do not use the tool if the switch is not working properly. Any power tool that cannot be turned ON or OFF is dangerous and should be repaired before operating.
Disconnect the tool from the power source and / or battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories or storing. These measures reduce the risk of accidentally starting the tool.

Do not force the cord. Never use the cord to carry, lift or unplug the tool. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.

Store tools out of the reach of children. Do not allow persons that are not familiar with the tool or its instructions to operate the tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

When operating a tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Using an adequate outdoor extension cord reduces the risk of electric shock.
If operating the tool in a damp location cannot be avoided, use a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protected supply. Using a GFCI reduces the risk of electric shock.
Personal safety Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of distraction while operating the tool may result in personal injury.
Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as safety glasses, anti-dust mask, non-skid shoes, hard hats and hearing protection used in the right conditions significantly reduce personal injury.

Service the tool. Check the mobile parts are not misaligned or stuck. There should not be broken parts or other conditions that may affect its operation. Repair any damage before using the tool. Most accidents are caused due to poor maintenance to the tools.

Keep the cutting accessories sharp and clean. Cutting accessories in good working conditions are less likely to bind and are
easier to control.

Use the tool, components and accessories in accordance with these instructions and the projected way to use it for the type of tool when in adequate working conditions. Using the tool for applications different from those it was designed for, could
result in a hazardous situation.

Service

Repair the tool in a

Authorized Service Center

using only identical spare parts.

This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Prevent unintentional starting up. Ensure the switch is in the “OFF” position before connecting into the power source and / or battery as well as when carrying the tool. Transporting power tools with the finger on the switch or connecting power tools with the switch in the “ON” position may cause accidents.
Remove any wrench or vice before turning the power tool on. Wrenches or vices left attached to rotating parts of the tool may result in personal injury.

Children or people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities shall not operate the tool, neither inexperienced people or without knowledge in the use of the tool, unless supervised by a person responsible of their safety or if receiving previous instructions about the tool operation. Children shall be kept under supervision to double-check they will not play with the tool. Tight supervision shall be used with children or disabled persons to prevent from using or being close to any household tool.

This tool is in compliance with the Official Mexican Standard (NOM – Norma Oficial Mexicana).

Before operating the saw
CAUTION · Get training from a qualified person familiar with the equipment and its functioning. · In the event of having trouble to carry out any operation do not use the equipment. Contact the supervisor, instructor or service center immediately. · Before unplugging and plugging in the equipment, set the power switch in the OFF position (see page 12, section Start Up).
CAUTION · Before plugging in the equipment verify the cutting band is correctly mounted. · Double check the band is honed, in good repair, with the right tension and alignment, free of oxide and tar. · Before turning ON the equipment verify the cutting band is not making contact with the work piece. · Close and secure both flywheel cabinets. · All the parts shall be correctly installed. · Adjust the upper cutting guide height to be set 0.12″ over the work piece.
While operating the saw
WARNING · Keep your hands always away from the cutting band.
WARNING · Do not carry out any operation free-handedly. Use the support fence and the miter gauge as indicated in this Instructions Manual. To gain control over small pieces use push sticks and / or push blocks with the specifications shown in figure A.
CAUTION · The work piece feeding direction shall always be against the band teeth and shall be carried out in a moderate and constant speed. · Work pieces must have flat faces. Never work with warped or bent pieces nor having a rounded shape.
WARNING · Avoid positions or movements that could make your body or hands move towards the moving band. · Turn OFF the machine and wait for the cutting band to stop completely before removing the remaining scrap pieces from the table. · When a work piece requires more than one cut, turn OFF the equipment and wait until the cutting band comes to a complete stop before setting the work piece for further cuts. · When cutting in an angle, with the help of the miter gauge remove the support fence out of the work piece trajectory. · When cutting long curves, make support cuts previous to the final cut.

Safety Warnings for Band Saws
Kickback
· Prevent a kickback (when the work piece is thrown against the operator). Keep the band sharp, tight and properly aligned; the support fence parallel to the band and the cutting guide adjusted to 0.12″ from the work piece. Do not let go the piece until it goes over the cutting band. · Do not cut through the vein with warped or dished wood; or work piece not having a straight edge which prevents it from being guided along the guide. · Double check you are not cutting wood with nails or screws.
Additional precautions
· When adjusting, replacing or manipulating the cutting band wear safety gloves to prevent injuries. · The equipment shall only be operated by people with experience it the use of the machine or people duly trained. · Wear a dust mask with the right flow of air adequate for the extraction of dangerous dusts. · Wear hearing protection. · The equipment may throw debris to your eyes while being operated causing severe or permanent damage. Always wear safety eyeglasses complying with ANSI Z87.1 Standard. · Do not try to remove chips while the band is moving, and the equipment is ON.
WARNING · Do not try to stop the cutting band while the saw is running. · Never stand up on the equipment.
WARNING · DO NOT ASSEMBLE the equipment until being sure it is not connect and the power switch is OFF (see page 12, Start Up Section).
WARNING · DO NOT CONNECT the equipment to the power supply until fully assembled and after reading and understanding this Manual in full. · When working with large work pieces that overhang out of the work table area, use adequate support to prevent losing control over the work piece. · To be able to carry out good maintenance on the machine there shall be enough space around the machine. · Work in a well-ventilated area and remove the saw dust frequently. · Release the band tension when the saw is not going to be used for a long period of time.
Unpacking
· Remove the packing material from the machine and fix it to the base before operating.
CAUTION · Keep a free area of about 32″ around the machine to give ample space to the work. When working long materials, there shall be enough space in the front and rear of the machine to be able to put in and remove the material with ease.

· Use a 2-ton hoist to lift the equipment and set it in a leveled, flat and stable surface. · The equipment shall be separated from other machines and wall to allow the operator to gain free circulation and work pieces handling. · Fix the base of the equipment to the floor using the four included bolts.

· With the help of another person, lift the work table (A) and set it onto the joint (B). Fix the table with four sets of hex screws and washers (C). · Set the insert (D) in the center of the table with the bevel facing down. F
Flywheels
· Set the motor band tension flywheel (E) using a 0.4″ wrench. · Set the upper cutting guide height adjusting flywheel (F) 0.55″ wrench.

Cutting Band

· The equipment is factory equipped with a general use

band. If the job requires a different band or if the band is

worn or damaged, replace it with a new one.

CAUTION · Double check if the machine is OFF

and disconnected from the power supply.

Wear gloves to prevent injury.

· Loosen the fast release lever (G) in a clockwise

direction.

· Open both guards (H) to gain access to the cutting

band flywheels.

· Set the band passing it through the work table slot ( I )

and through the slot in the saw column ( J ). Make sure

the band teeth passing through the table slot are pointing

downwards and to the front.

· Adjust the band to run in the center of the two pulleys

(K) and make it tense tightening the flywheel (L).

· Tighten the fast release lever (G) in a counter clockwise

direction.

· To verify how the band passes, turn the upper flywheel manually. To rectify the band trip,

turn the upper flywheel depth knob (M) in the rear of the upper cabinet (see page 10).

· Close both cabinets.

Guide Rail and Longitudinal Cutting Guide
· Once the cutting guide is mounted, the guide rail can be set (A) using the four sets of butterfly screws and washers in the front end of the work table. · Set the rear rail (B) in the rear side of the work table and secure with two sets of bolts and washers. · With the two rails in place, pass the longitudinal cutting guide (C) inside de cutting band and hook its stopper (D) with the rear rail tab. Lower the longitudinal cut guide so that the brake mechanism (E) sits in the guide rail. · To adjust the guide rail scale, travel the longitudinal cutting guide until making contact with the cutting band. Loosen the screw (F) and travel the scale until the “zero” matches the peephole (G). Once the scale “zero” in the scale marches with the cutting band trajectory, tighten the screw (F) again.

Dust Exhaust

CAUTION · Working with the saw may generate

dangerous dusts aside from sawdust and chips which

combined with an ignition source could catch fire or

generate explosions, injuries or allergy.

· The equipment is built with two dust extraction ports (H).

When in use, we recommend to connect the equipment to

an adequate dust collector.

Tension knob
· The tension knob (A) lowers and lifts the upper flywheel to control tension in the cutting band. To loosen the band tension turn the knob in a counter clockwise direction. To apply tension, turn the flywheel in a clockwise direction. · Tension can be verified in the tension indicator window (B) in the upper guard in the front of the saw.
Depth knob
· The depth knob (C) pushes and pulls the upper flywheel to perfectly center the cutting band. · Once the band is set and tense, with your hand turn the upper flywheel in a clockwise direction to verify the band runs in the center of the flywheel. · If the band is not centered in the pulley, loosen the lock (C1) and turn the knob (C) until the band is centered. · Once the band is centered, secure the depth knob with the lock.
Cutting guide height
· Loosen the knob (D) to adjust the cutting guide height turning the flywheel (E). The guide shall be set no less than 0,11″ distance from the work piece. · Tighten the knob to fix the cutting guide height.
Speed change
· The equipment can work in two speeds: 1800 ft/min for hard wood, some plastics and some non-ferrous metals and 3870 ft/min for the rest of woods. · Turn OFF and disconnect the equipment before changing speeds. · To change speeds, first loosen the tension screw (F) turning the flywheel (G). This will loosen the band (H) to be set it in the adequate position in main pulleys ( I ) and those in the motor ( J ). · Remove the lower flywheel and set up the band. · For high speed (3870 ft/min), the band shall be set in the rear pulleys both in the motor and the flywheel. · For low speed (1800 ft/min), the band shall be set in the front pulleys, both in the motor and the flywheel.

Cutting Angle Adjustment

· To make bevel cuts, modify the work table angle

loosening blocking lever (F).

· Turn the knob (G) to tilt the work table to get into the

desired angle, signaled with the pointer.

· Tighten firmly the cutting angle blocking lever.

CAUTION · Make sure the lever is firmly tightened before making bevel cuts

Adjustments

Band Guides

· To assure clean cuts and optimal performance of the saw,

the cutting band shall run through the cutting guides (upper

and lower).

· These guides are made with a bearing system that keep

the cutting band in place while making the cut. The bearings

are set on the sides and in the rear of the cutting band.

· The bearings (A) are secured with an Allen screw (B) that

can be loosened to adjust each bearing position.

· Both guides (upper and lower) have a hexagonal head

screw (C) to bring over or move away the band bearings

system from the cutting band depending of the band size.

CAUTION · It is important that the bearings are set

1/16″ behind the cutting teeth as indicated in graph (D) to

prevent vibration or wear in the cutting band. Otherwise, to

adjust, loosen the hexagonal screws (C) to make the guides

travel to the right distance. Then, tighten the screws to

secure.

· After this adjustment, verify all the bearings (in rear and in

the sides) are separated 1/32″ away from the band. Otherwise, adjust by loosening the bearing Allen screw.

Make it travel to the right distance in the band and tighten

the Allen screw to secure the position.

CAUTION Prevent the band travel make contact with

the bearings. The friction generated would be counterpro-

ductive for the band and the cutting bands.

· Once all the adjustments are carried out, the separation

distance between the saw and the slot edge shall be 1/2″.

There has to be no contact or friction between the saw and

the slot profile.

· The longitudinal cut guide can be moved move close or away from the cutting guide depending on the job. · To release the longitudinal cutting guide, lift the lever (C) and set the guide in the desired position. Lower the lever to secure the guide in place.

Start Up
CAUTION The saw is built with a switch with a lock to prevent unauthorized use. If leaving aside the machine for a long period of time, and there is the possibility the third parties could use it, especially children, set a padlock or pin to block it. · Press the button ( I ) to start the saw. · Press the button ( O ) to turn the saw OFF.
Operation
· Keep in mind that the band cuts in a continuous descendent run. · Using both hands, firmly support the work piece onto the table. Feed it slowly towards the band. Keep your hands away from the band. · For better results, the band shall be sharp. A dull band will not cut properly, especially straight cuts and will cause excessive pressure in the rear guide bearings. · Select the right band for the job, depending on the wood thickness and type of cut. The thinner and harder the wood is, the band teeth shall be finer. Use a fine teeth band for sharp curve cuts. · The machine is especially designed to make curved or straight cuts. · When cutting, follow the design marked and only pushing and rotating the work piece in a uniform manner. · Do not try to turn the work piece by pushing it. The work piece will get stuck or the band will bend. · To make straight cuts use the support fence to slowly feed the work piece towards the band in contact with the fence.
Cutting band replacement
· Use 6 teeth per inch (tpi) for wood or soft materials. Use 14 teeth per inch (tpi) for harder materials. Remember, 14 teeth per inch (tpi) cuts slower because the teeth are finer and the cutting operation is slower.

Maintenance

Cleansing and Lubrication
· Turn OFF and disconnect the saw. · Remove all the dust using a hard-brittle brush and a vacuum cleaner. Pay attention to the mechanisms and the motor air vents. · Apply dry graphite lubricant or silicon in the mechanism.
ATENCIÓN Do not use oil or grease because it would accumulate saw dust and can hinder the function of the mechanism. · The motor bearings are factory sealed and lubricated. Do not require additional lubrication.

Service
· Servicing the saw can only be carried out by Authorized Service Center staff.
Service and maintenance carried out by non-qualified personnel may be dangerous and could cause personal injuries and makes Warranty void.

Dust accumulates · This is due to normal use. inside the machine.

· Clean the motor vents using a vacuum cleaner. Remove dust constantly to prevent dust entering inside the cover.

The machine is not cutting 45° or 90° angles.

· The table is not set in the right angles with regards to the band. · The band is dull or there was too much pressure on the work piece.

· Adjust the table (see page 10). · Replace the band or exercise less pressure on the work piece.

The band cannot be set in the right manner in the flywheels.

· The flywheels are crooked. · The flywheel alignment knob has not been adjusted right. · The band is defective.

· Go to a

Limpieza y lubricación
· Apague y desconecte la sierra. · Con ayuda de un cepillo de cerda dura y una aspiradora retire todo el polvo, ponga atención en los mecanismos y en la entrada de aire del motor. · Aplique lubricante seco de grafito o silicón en los mecanismos. ATENCIÓN No utilice aceite o grasa, pues acumularían aserrín y entorpecería el funcionamiento de los mecanismos. · Los rodamientos del motor están sellados y lubricados de fábrica, no requieren de lubricación adicional.

Si va a dejar la máquina por un largo período de tiempo y existe la posibilidad de que la usen otras personas, especialmente niños, coloque un pasador o candado para bloquearlo. · Presione el botón ( I ) para encender la sierra. · Presione el botón ( O ) para apagar la sierra.

· Tome en cuenta que la cinta corta en una carrera descendente continua. · Con ambas manos sostenga firmemente la pieza de trabajo sobre la mesa, y aliméntela lentamente hacia la cinta, manteniendo sus manos alejadas de la cinta. · Para mejores resultados la cinta debe estar afilada. Una cinta sin filo no cortará de manera correcta, especialmente en cortes rectos, y causará una presión excesiva en los baleros de guía traseros. · Seleccione la cinta correcta para el trabajo a realizar, dependiendo del grueso de la madera y el tipo de corte que se va a trabajar. Entre más delgada y dura la madera, los dientes de la cinta deben ser más finos. Utilice una cinta de dientes finos para cortes curvos pronunciados. · La máquina está especialmente diseñada para realizar cortes curvos y rectos. · Al cortar, siga el diseño marcado únicamente empujando y girando la pieza de trabajo uniformemente. · No intente girar la pieza de trabajo empujándola, ya que esto puede causar que la pieza de trabajo se atore, o que la cinta se doble. · Para cortes rectos, utilice la defensa de apoyo para alimentar lentamente la pieza de trabajo hacia la cinta y en contacto con la defensa.
Reemplazo de la cinta de corte
· Utilice una cinta de 6 dpp* para madera y materiales suaves. Utilice una cinta de 14 dpp* para materiales más duros. Recuerde que una cinta de 14 dpp* corta más despacio, debido a que los dientes son más finos y su operación de corte es más lenta. * dientes por pulgada.

Guías de la cinta

· Para asegurar cortes limpios y un óptimo desempeño de

la sierra, la cinta de corte debe correr por las guías de corte

(superior e inferior).

· Estas guías cuentan con un sistema de baleros que

mantienen la cinta de corte en su lugar mientras se realiza

el corte. Los baleros se ubican a los costados y detrás de la

cinta de corte.

· Los baleros (A) están asegurados con un tornillo Allen (B)

que se puede aflojar para ajustar la posición de cada balero.

· Ambas guías (superior e inferior) cuentan con un tornillo

de cabeza hexagonal (C) para acercar o alejar el sistema de

baleros a la cinta de corte dependiendo del tamaño de la

cinta.

ATENCIÓN · Es importante que los baleros queden

a 1.5 mm (1/16″) detrás de los dientes de corte como se

indica en el gráfico D para evitar vibraciones o desgaste en

la sierra de corte. De no ser así haga el ajuste aflojando los

tornillos hexagonales C para recorrer las guías a la distancia

adecuada y apretando los tornillos para asegurarlas. · Después de este ajuste verifique que todos los baleros

(detrás y a los costados) estén separados 1 mm (1/32″) de

la cinta. De no ser así haga el ajuste aflojando el tornillo

allen del balero, recórralo a la distancia adecuada de la cinta

y apriete el tornillo allen para asegurar su posición.

ATENCIÓN No permita que la cinta corra en

contacto con los baleros, pues la fricción generada sería

contraproducente para la cinta y las guías de corte.

· Una vez realizados todos los ajustes la distancia de

separación entre la sierra y el extremo de la ranura deberá

de ser de 12,3 mm y no debe de haber contacto o

rozamiento entre la sierra y el perfil de la ranura.

· Guía de corte longitudinal puede recorrerse para acercarse o alejarse de la cinta de corte dependiendo del trabajo a realizar. · Para liberar la guía de corte longitudinal levante la palanca (C) y coloque la guía en la posición deseada. Baje la palanca para asegurar la guía en su lugar.

Volante de tensión
· El volante de tensión (A) sube y baja la polea superior, para controlar la tensión de la cinta de corte. Para aflojar la tensión de la cinta, gire el volante en contra del reloj. Para apretar la tensión, gire el volante en dirección del reloj. · La tensión se puede verificar en la ventana indicadora de tensión (B) en la guarda superior al frente de la sierra.
Perilla de profundidad
· La perilla de profundidad (C) empuja y jala la polea superior para que la cinta de corte quede bien centrada. · Una vez que la cinta esté colocada y tensada, gire con la mano la polea superior en dirección del reloj para verificar que la cinta corra por el centro de la polea. · Si la cinta no está centrada en la polea afloje el seguro (C1) y gire la perilla (C) hasta que la cinta quede centrada. · Una vez centrada, bloqué la perilla de profundidad con el seguro.
Altura de la guía de corte
· Afloje la perilla (D) para ajustar la altura de la guía de corte girando el volante (E). La guía debe quedar a no menos de 3 mm de distancia de la pieza de trabajo. · Apriete la perilla para fijar la altura de la guía de corte.
Cambio de velocidad
· El equipo puede trabajar a dos velocidades: 550 m/min para maderas duras, algunos plásticos y ciertos metales no ferrosos y 1 180 m/min para el resto de las maderas. · Apague y desconecte el equipo antes de cambiar la velocidad. · Para cambiar la velocidad primero afloje el rodillo de tensión (F) girando el volante (G). Esto aflojará la banda (H) para poder colocarla en la posición adecuada en las poleas principal ( I ) y la del motor ( J ). · Retire el volante inferior y acomode la banda. · Para la velocidad alta (1 180 m/min), la banda debe ser colocada en las poleas traseras tanto en el motor como en el volante. · Para la velocidad baja (550 m/min), la banda debe ser colocada en las poleas frontales tanto en el motor como en el volante.
Ajuste del ángulo de corte
· Para realizar cortes en bisel modifique el ángulo de la mesa de trabajo aflojando la palanca de bloqueo (F). · Gire la perilla (G) para inclinar la mesa de trabajo hasta obtener el ángulo deseado señalado por el puntero de la escala. · Apriete firmemente la palanca de bloqueo del ángulo de corte. ATENCIÓN · Asegúrese de apretar firmemente la palanca antes de realizar cortes en bisel.

Riel guía y guía de corte longitudinal
· Una vez que la cinta de corte ha sido montada ya puede montar el riel guía (A) con los cuatro juegos de tornillos de mariposa y rondanas en el extremo frontal de la mesa de trabajo. · Coloque el riel trasero (B) en la parte posterior de la mesa de trabajo y asegúrelo con dos juegos de pernos y rondanas. · Con los dos rieles en su lugar haga pasar la guía de corte longitudinal (C) por dentro de la cinta de corte y enganche su tope (D) con la pestaña del riel trasero, baje la guía de corte longitudinal para que el mecanismo de freno (E) calce en el riel guía. · Para ajustar la escala del riel guía recorra la guía de corte longitudinal hasta hacer contacto con la cinta de corte, afloje el tornillo (F) y recorra la escala hasta que el cero coincida con la mirilla (G). Una vez que el cero de la escala coincida con la trayectoria de la cinta de corte, apriete de nuevo el tornillo F.

Expulsores de polvo

ATENCIÓN · El trabajo con la sierra puede generar

polvos peligrosos, además de aserrín y astillas que en

combinación con una fuente de ignición podrían

incendiarse o generar explosiones, heridas o alergias.

· El equipo cuenta con dos puertos (H) de extracción de

polvo. Se recomienda que cuando esté en uso, el equipo

esté conectada a un recolector de polvo adecuado.

· Con ayuda de otra persona levante la mesa de trabajo (A) y colóquela sobre la articulación (B), fije la mesa con cuatro juegos de tornillos de cabeza hexagonal y rondanas (C). · Coloque el inserto (D) en el centro de la mesa con el bisel hacia abajo. F

· Coloque el volante de tensión de la banda del motor (E) con ayuda de una llave de 10 mm. · Coloque el volante de ajuste de altura de la guía de corte superior (F) con ayuda de una llave de 14 mm.

Cinta de corte

· El equipo está equipado de fábrica con una cinta para

uso general. En caso de que el trabajo a realizar requiera

de una cinta diferente o que la cinta esté gastada o dañada

deberá cambiarla por otra.

ATENCIÓN · Asegúrese de que la máquina esté

apagada y desconectada de la toma de corriente.

Utilice guantes para evitar lesiones.

· Afloje la palanca de liberación rápida (G) en sentido de

las manecillas del reloj.

· Abra ambas guardas (H) para tener acceso a los volantes

de la cinta de corte.

· Coloque la cinta haciéndola pasar por la ranura de la

mesa de trabajo ( I ) y por la ranura de la columna de la

sierra ( J ). Asegúrese que los dientes de la cinta que

pasan por la ranura de la mesa estén apuntando hacia

abajo y hacia enfrente.

· Acomode la cinta para que corra por el centro de las dos

poleas (K) y ténsela ligeramente apretando el volante (L).

· Apriete la palanca de liberación rápida (G) en sentido opuesto a las manecillas del reloj.

· Para verificar por dónde pasa la cinta, gire manualmente el volante superior. Para rectificar el

paso de la cinta, gire la perilla de profundidad del volante superior (M) en la parte posterior

del gabinete superior (consulte la página 10).

· Cierre los dos gabinetes.

Contacte de inmediato a su supervisor, instructor o al centro de servicio. · Antes de desconectar y conectar el equipo, debe poner el interruptor de corriente en la posición de APAGADO (ver página 12 sección encendido).
ATENCIÓN · Verifique que la cinta de corte esté debidamente montada antes de conectar el equipo. · Asegúrese de que la cinta esté afilada, en buen estado, con una tensión y alineación adecuadas, libre de óxido y brea. · Antes de encender el equipo verifique que la cinta de corte no esté haciendo contacto con la pieza de trabajo. · Cierre y asegure los dos gabinetes de los volantes. · Todas sus partes deben de estar correctamente instaladas. · Ajuste la altura de la guía de corte superior para que quede a 3 mm sobre la pieza de trabajo.
Mientras opera la sierra
ADVERTENCIA · Mantenga las manos siempre alejadas de la cinta de corte.
ADVERTENCIA · No haga ninguna operación a manos libres. Utilice la defensa de apoyo y el calibrador de inglete como se indica en éste instructivo. Para controlar piezas pequeñas utilice bastones y/o bloques de empuje con las especificaciones de la figura A.
ATENCIÓN · La dirección de alimentación de la pieza de trabajo debe ser siempre contra los dientes de la cinta, y debe de hacerse a una velocidad constante y moderada. · Las piezas a trabajar deben de tener caras planas; nunca trabaje madera pandeada o torcida, ni de forma redonda.
ADVERTENCIA · Evite posiciones y movimientos que puedan ocasionar que sus manos o su cuerpo se muevan hacia la cinta en movimiento. · Apáguela y espere a que la cinta de corte se detenga por completo antes de retirar las piezas sobrantes de la mesa. · Cuando una pieza de trabajo requiera de más de un corte, apague el equipo y espere a que la cinta de corte se detenga por completo antes de acomodar la pieza de trabajo para realizar los cortes subsiguientes. · Cuando realice cortes en ángulo con ayuda de la guía de inglete, retire la defensa de apoyo de la trayectoria de la pieza de trabajo. · Cuando realice cortes curvos largos realice cortes de apoyo previos al corte final.

· Evite recibir un contragolpe (cuando la pieza de trabajo es lanzada contra el operario). Mantenga la cinta afilada, tensa y debidamente alineada, la defensa de apoyo paralela a la cinta y la guía de corte ajustada a 3 mm de la pieza de trabajo. No suelte la pieza de trabajo hasta que sobrepase la cinta de corte. · No corte a través de la veta con madera torcida o abombada; o que no tenga la orilla derecha que le impida ser guiada a lo largo de la guía. · Asegúrese de no cortar madera con clavos o tornillos.
Precauciones adicionales
· Cuando ajuste, cambie o manipule la cinta de corte utilice guantes de seguridad para evitar lesiones. · El equipo debe ser operado sólo por personas con experiencia en su uso o debidamente capacitadas. · Use una mascarilla antipolvo y conecte el equipo a un recolector de polvo con un flujo de aire adecuado para la extracción de polvos peligrosos. · Use protectores para los oídos. · El equipo puede lanzar deshechos a los ojos durante su operación; causando daño severo o permanente. Use siempre anteojos de seguridad que cumplan con la Norma ANSI Z87.1. · No trate de retirar astillas mientras la cinta está en movimiento y el equipo encendido.
ADVERTENCIA · No intente detener la cinta de corte con la sierra en marcha. · Nunca se pare sobre el equipo.
ADVERTENCIA · NO ENSAMBLE el equipo hasta estar seguro que no está conectado y que el interruptor de corriente esté en la posición de APAGADO (ver página 12 sección encendido).
ADVERTENCIA · NO CONECTE el equipo al suministro eléctrico hasta que esté ensamblado por completo y haya usted leído y comprendido en su totalidad este instructivo. · Al trabajar piezas de trabajo grandes que sobresalgan mucho del área de la mesa de trabajo, utilice soportes adecuados para no perder el control de la pieza de trabajo. · Para poder dar buen mantenimiento, debe haber suficiente espacio alrededor de la máquina. · Trabaje en un área bien ventilada y retire frecuentemente el aserrín. · Libere la tensión de la cinta cuando la sierra no vaya a ser utilizada por un tiempo prolongado.
Desembalaje
· Retire el material de empaque de la máquina y fíjela a su base antes de operarla.
ATENCIÓN · Mantenga un área libre de 80 cm alrededor de la máquina para darle espacio al trabajo. En caso que trabaje materiales largos, debe tener suficiente espacio en el frente y la parte trasera de la máquina para poder meter y sacar el material con comodidad.

Advertencias generales de seguridad para herramientas eléctricas

¡ADVERTENCIA! Lea detenidamente todas las advertencias de seguridad y todas las instrucciones que se enlistan a continuación. La omisión de alguna de ellas puede dar como resultado un choque eléctrico, incendio y/o daño serio. Conserve las advertencias y las instrucciones para futuras referencias.

Área de trabajo Mantenga el área de trabajo limpia y bien iluminada. Las áreas desordenadas y obscuras son propensas a accidentes.
No maneje la herramienta en ambientes explosivos, como en presencia de líquido, gas o polvo inflamables. Las herramientas eléctricas producen chispas que pueden encender material inflamable.
Mantenga alejados a los niños y curiosos cuando opere la herramienta. Las distracciones pueden hacer que pierda el control.
Seguridad eléctrica La clavija de la herramienta debe coincidir con el tomacorriente. Nunca modifique una clavija. No use ningún tipo de adaptador para clavijas de herramientas puestas a tierra. Clavijas modificadas y enchufes diferentes aumentan el riesgo de choque eléctrico.
Evite el contacto del cuerpo con superficies puestas a tierra como tuberías, radiadores, cocinas eléctricas y refrigeradores. Hay un mayor riesgo de choque eléctrico si el cuerpo está puesto a tierra.
No exponga la herramienta a la lluvia o condiciones de humedad. El agua que ingresa en la herramienta aumenta el riesgo de choque eléctrico.
No fuerce el cable. Nunca use el cable para transportar, levantar o desconectar la herramienta. Mantenga el cable lejos del calor, aceite, orillas afiladas o piezas en movimiento. Los cables dañados o enredados aumentan el riesgo de choque eléctrico.
Cuando maneje una herramienta en exteriores, use una extensión especial para uso en exteriores. El uso de una extensión adecuada para exteriores reduce el riesgo de choque eléctrico.
Si el uso de la herramienta en un lugar húmedo es inevitable, use una alimentación protegida por un interruptor de circuito de falla a tierra (GFCI). El uso de un GFCI reduce el riesgo de choque eléctrico.

No sobrepase su campo de acción. Mantenga ambos pies bien asentados sobre el suelo y conserve el equilibrio en todo momento. Esto permite un mejor control de la herramienta en situaciones inesperadas.
Vista adecuadamente. No vista ropa suelta o joyas. Mantenga su pelo, su ropa y guantes alejados de las piezas en movimiento. La ropa, el pelo suelto o las joyas pueden quedar atrapados en las piezas en movimiento.
En caso de contar con dispositivos de extracción y recolección de polvo conectados a la herramienta, verifique sus conexiones y úselos correctamente. El uso de estos dispositivos reduce los riesgos relacionados con el polvo.
Uso y cuidados de la herramienta No fuerce la herramienta. Use la herramienta adecuada para el trabajo a realizar. La herramienta adecuada hace un trabajo mejor y más seguro cuando se usa al ritmo para el que fue diseñado.
No use la herramienta si el interruptor no funciona. Cualquier herramienta eléctrica que no pueda encenderse o apagarse es peligrosa y debe repararse antes de ser operada.
Desconecte la herramienta de la fuente de alimentación y/o de la batería antes de efectuar cualquier ajuste, cambiar accesorios o almacenarla. Estas medidas reducen el riesgo de arrancar la herramienta accidentalmente.
Almacene las herramientas fuera del alcance de los niños y no permita su manejo por personas no familiarizadas con las herramientas o con las instrucciones. Las herramientas eléctricas son peligrosas en manos no entrenadas.
Dele mantenimiento a la herramienta. Compruebe que las partes móviles no estén desalineadas o trabadas, que no haya piezas rotas u otras condiciones que puedan afectar su operación. Repare cualquier daño antes de usar la herramienta. Muchos accidentes son causados por el escaso mantenimiento de las herramientas.

Seguridad personal Esté alerta, vigile lo que está haciendo y use el sentido común cuando maneje una herramienta. No la use si está cansado o bajo la influencia de drogas, alcohol o medicamentos. Un momento de distracción mientras maneja la herramienta puede causar un daño personal.
Use equipo de seguridad. Use siempre protección para los ojos. El uso de equipo de seguridad como lentes de seguridad, mascarilla antipolvo, zapatos antideslizantes, casco y protección para los oídos en condiciones apropiadas, reduce de manera significativa los daños personales.
Evite arranques accidentales. Asegúrese de que el interruptor está en posición “apagado” antes de conectar a la fuente de alimentación y/o a la batería o transportar la herramienta. Transportar herramientas eléctricas con el dedo sobre el interruptor o conectar herramientas eléctricas que tienen el interruptor en posición de “encendido” puede causar accidentes.
Retire cualquier llave o herramienta de ajuste antes de arrancar la herramienta eléctrica. Las llaves o herramientas que quedan en las partes rotativas de la herramienta pueden causar un daño personal.

Mantenga los accesorios de corte afilados y limpios. Los accesorios de corte en buenas condiciones son menos probables de trabarse y más fáciles de controlar.
Use la herramienta, sus componentes y accesorios de acuerdo con estas instrucciones y de la manera prevista para el tipo de herramienta, en condiciones de trabajo adecuadas. El uso de la herramienta para aplicaciones diferentes para las que está diseñada podría causar una situación de peligro.
Servicio Repare la herramienta en un Centro de Servicio Autorizado
usando sólo piezas de repuesto idénticas. Para mantener la seguridad de la herramienta.
La máquina no debe de ser utilizada por niños ni por personas con capacidades físicas, sensoriales o mentales reducidas; tampoco por personas sin experiencia o conocimientos en su uso, a menos que estén supervisadas por una persona responsable de su seguridad o reciban instrucciones previas sobre el uso de la máquina. Los niños deben de estar bajo supervisión para asegurarse de que no jueguen con la máquina. Se debe de mantener una estricta supervisión si niños o personas discapacitadas llegan a utilizar cualquier tipo de aparato electrodoméstico o estén cerca de él.

Requerimientos eléctricos

ADVERTENCIA El equipo debe ser conectado a tierra para evitar una descarga eléctrica. · Conecte la clavija en un tomacorriente debidamente aterrizado. No todos los tomacorrientes están propiamente aterrizados, si no está seguro verifique con un eléctrico calificado. · Si el tomacorriente disponible para el equipo es de 2 polos (2 orificios), NO REMUEVA O ALTERE EL CONDUCTOR DE TIERRA DE SU CLAVIJA POR NINGÚN MOTIVO. Utilice un adaptador temporal como se muestra en el ejemplo E y siempre conecte la oreja del conductor de tierra como se indica.

Funcionamiento con 220 Volts

Funcionamiento con 127 Volts

El cableado del motor del equipo está configurado para funcionar a 220 V~ (figura A). Sin embargo, no incluye la clavija de alimentación correspondiente para que el
equipo pueda conectarse fácilmente a las características
específicas del suministro eléctrico de cada usuario. Un
ejemplo de clavija para 220 V~ que puede ser adaptada al
cordón de alimentación de la máquina con su tomacorriente respectivo se ilustra en la figura C. Póngase en contacto con un electricista calificado para que realice la
instalación adecuada y segura a 220 V~.

Si desea configurar el cableado del motor para que
funcione a 127 V~: 1. Desconecte el equipo de la fuente de energía. 2. Reconecte los cuatro cables del motor para operar a 127 V~ como se muestra en la figura B. 3. Se recomienda adaptar una clavija específica para
127 V~ en el cordón de alimentación de la máquina. Esta clavija se ilustra en la figura D. Póngase en contacto con
un electricista calificado para instalar la clavija. 4. En caso de que el tomacorriente disponible no esté aterrizado, puede usar un adaptador (E), pero solo
temporalmente, hasta que un electricista calificado pueda
instalar un tomacorriente aterrizado y siempre conecte la
oreja del conductor de tierra como se indica.

ATENCIÓN Al usar un cable de extensión, asegúrese que el calibre sea suficiente para la corriente que consumirá el equipo. Un calibre inferior ocasionará caídas de tensión en la línea, pérdida de potencia y sobrecalentamiento del motor. Las tablas siguientes muestran los calibres correctos que debe usarse dependiendo de la longitud del cable y de la capacidad de amperes indicada en la placa de datos de la herramienta. Si tiene dudas use el siguiente calibre más alto.
