Safety Precautions
Always use suitable personal protection equipment and safe work
practices when installing or servicing the product.
Installation Requirements
- The product is to be installed and serviced by a suitably
qualified professional. - The installation must meet all applicable engineering and
regulatory requirements. - Do not use acid/chemical washes as discoloration may occur and
will void the warranty. - Do not carry the lid with the key.
- Always remove the key from the lid once locked and keep it out
of reach of children. - After installation, provide the manual to the owner/operator to
store in a safe place.
Outer Frame Installation on Stone/Tile
- For new builds, allow for a mortar bed allowance (A) as
specified on page 2 of the installation guide. - For retro-fit, create a recess for the outer frame, ensuring
that any mortar that falls into the skimmer box opening is
immediately removed. - Apply mortar into the recess surrounding the skimmer box
opening, making sure to remove any excess mortar that falls into
the skimmer box. - Install the outer frame while the mortar is still wet, making
sure to leave a small clearance gap (A) and aligning the
pre-moulded mounting holes (B). - Optional: remove the install plate (P/N: 475-209) after the
compound is fully cured (B).
Outer Frame Installation on Decking
- Create a sub-frame slightly larger than the outer frame and
centered over the skimmer box opening (A). - Ensure that the outer frame is square, level, and centered on
the skimmer box opening (A). - Align the pre-moulded mounting holes (B) and attach the outer
frame to the sub-frame, leaving a small clearance gap (A). - Optional: cut boards spanning the outer frame so that a section
equal to the width of the lid is removed for a seamless
installation.
Lid Inlay Installation on Stone/Tile
- Prepare the inlay on a flat surface.
- Apply V-lock adhesive to the underside of the inlay, making
sure to maximize the adhesive bond strength (B). - Ensure that the inlay is free from dust, oil, debris, and
completely dry before continuing. - Place the lid over the inlay and press down until the lid outer
rim is touching the work surface (B). - Leave for approximately 15 minutes to allow the adhesive to
partially cure. - Remove the lid and inlay, apply more adhesive if necessary, and
reposition the inlay, making sure it is centered for consistent
grout line thickness (A). - Leave for approximately 24 hours to allow the adhesive to fully
cure.

OUTER FRAME PREPARATION – STONE/TILE
1
NEW BUILD NEW BUILD
· Check & confirm finished height of stone/tile.
· Check & confirm overall height of V-LOCK model to be installed
(See Page 2).
· Prepare a level bed slightly larger than overall size of Outer Frame including
mortar bed allowance (A).
1
RETRO-FIT RETRO-FIT
· Align & centre Outer Frame over existing skimmer box opening (A).
· Mark perimeter of Outer Frame on surrounding stone/tile (B).
2
3
RETRO-FIT
To create recess for Outer Frame:
· Carefully cut existing tile/stone to create recess for Outer Frame (A).
· Remove debris to a depth suitable for overall height of V-LOCK model to be installed (See Page 2) plus mortar bed allowance (B).
OUTER FRAME INSTALLATION – STONE/TILE
1
To lay mortar bed: · Using appropriate mortar mix, insert
mortar into recess surrounding
skimmer box opening (A).
IMMEDIATELY REMOVE ANY MORTAR THAT FALLS INTO SKIMMER BOX
2
3
P/N: 475-209
To position Outer Frame: · Place Outer Frame on mortar bed.
Mortar must fully support Outer Frame (A). · Ensure top rim of Outer Frame is flush with top face of surrounding stone/tile. · Remove any excess mortar and ensure skimmer box opening is fully accessible through Outer Frame (B).
IMMEDIATELY REMOVE ANY MORTAR THAT FALLS INTO SKIMMER BOX
**WHILE MORTAR IS WET**
To install Outer Frame:
· OPTIONAL – Insert Install Plate (P/N. 475-209) into Outer Frame with label facing upwards, and press down gently until it rests on stop ribs (A).
· Adjust as required to ensure Outer Frame is level, square and top rim is flush with surrounding surface (B).
**AFTER MORTAR HAS SET**
4
To finish Outer Frame:
· PREFERRED – Fill gap surrounding Outer Frame using a suitable expansion joint gap filler (A).
· ALTERNATE – Apply grout around Outer Frame perimeter using preferred mortar/grout compound*.
OPTIONAL – Remove Install Plate
P/N: 475-209
(P/N. 475-209) after compound is fully cured (B).
* Using rigid grout or mortar may result in gaps/cracking appearing over time due to natural expansion & contraction.

OUTER FRAME INSTALLATION – Decking
1
To prepare sub-frame: · Construct square opening in
sub-frame slightly larger than Outer
Frame, centred over skimmer box
opening (A).
· Fix corner gussets to sub-frame opening. Ensure gussets are recessed so top surface of Outer Frame rim is flush with finished decking level (B).
2
To install Outer Frame: · Adjust as required to ensure Outer
Frame is square, level and centred on
skimmer box opening (A).
· Attach Outer Frame to sub-frame with suitable fasteners through
pre-moulded mounting holes (B).
3
Applying decking: · Lay decking around Outer Frame
leaving a small clearance gap (A).
HINT: For a seamless installation, cut boards spanning Outer Frame so that a section equal to width of Lid is removed. These pieces can be used to create a perfectly grain-matched Lid inlay.
