WHY A SHIM KIT?
If you place a heavy load at the rear of your Diamond Back HD, you may find it difficult to open and close the tailgate. These shims take the load off the tailgate so you can operate it even with heavy load on top.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Open the tail panel of the cover.
- Place a shim onto each bed rail, tight against the inside of the tailgate.
- Close the cover.
- If the lock rods can no longer travel unimpeded past the bed rail lips, drop the tailgate and use a 7/16″ socket to lower the rod guide brackets and thus reposition the rods.
For best weather protection, make sure that in the closed position, the rods draw the tailgate panel down and compress its perimeter weatherstrip.
