Our sterile pre-moistened cellulose sponge with quick release handle is a convenient ready-to-use product designed to eliminate the costly, time-consuming steps of diluent preparation, sterilization and application to sampling devices. The cellulose sampling sponge with quick release handle is gamma radiated to ensure sterility. Cellulose sponges are premoistened with 10 mL broth.

Dey-Engley (DE) Neutralizing Broth ­ DE Neutralizing Broth assists in the recovery of microorganisms in samples taken from surfaces exposed to sanitizing agents. It has the ability to neutralize the bactericidal and bacteriostatic effects of sanitizing agents such as chlorine, quaternary ammonium compounds, iodine, phenolics, mercurials, formaldehyde, and glutaraldehyde (Difco Manual). The medium also contains nutritive agents that aid in the recovery and promote the growth of microorganisms.

Method:
· Tear open twirl-tie bag with tear notches at either side. · Remove the black handle holding the sponge. · Collect the sample by vigorously rubbing sponge on targeted area. · Release the sponge from handle back into the sterile sample bag. · Discard the handle and seal the bag. · Label the bag with the sample details. · Transport samples directly to the laboratory immediately after collection. If the collection and transport time to
the laboratory will be greater than six hours, use a cooler with ice packs or refrigerate the samples prior to
shipment. DO NOT FREEZE.

Storage:
· Store unused sponges in their original packaging at room
temperature. Avoid storage in sunlight.
Shelf Life:
· Pre-moistened sponges in foil have a shelf life of 6 months.
Product Disposal :
· Sterilize inoculated sponges before disposal by autoclaving,
incinerating, or soaking in a bleach solution overnight. Dispose in accordance
with local and national regulations.
