Summary
Instances of high voltage electrical shorts have been reported with FLEXX air handlers with electric heat kits installed. This can lead to damage to the unit or personal injury. Most commonly, damaged Molex connectors have been reported.
Solution:
When installing an electric heat kit in a FLEXX air handler, line voltage must only be connected to the circuit breakers included with the heat kit. Line voltage must be disconnected permanently from L1 and L2 on the terminal block. If line voltage is connected to the electric heat kit circuit breakers and the terminal block at the same time, a high voltage short will occur.
Disconnect line voltage from L1 and L2 permanently before installing an electric heat kit to prevent a high voltage short.
