The usual symptoms of a Trolley Jack with air in the system are as follows.

  • No resistance in the pump stroke while pumping to the load fact [handle feels light].
  • Most of the down stroke of the pump handle taken up but no movement of the Lift ram.
  • Pump handle slowly raises on its own while lift arm lowers.

Bleed Instructions

  2. Remove the Filler Bung and if required, refill with ISO46 Grade Hydraulic until the oil is approximately 6mm below the filler hole then replace the Filler Bung.TQB 2906T Hydraulic Garage Jack fig 2TQB 2906T Hydraulic Garage Jack fig 3
  3. Rotate the release handle to the raised position.TQB 2906T Hydraulic Garage Jack fig 4
  4. With the help of an assistant stand the jack on its end on the edge of a bench.TQB 2906T Hydraulic Garage Jack fig 5
  5. While holding the jack by the front axle slowly pump the lift arm out to full height.TQB 2906T Hydraulic Garage Jack fig 6
  6. With the help of an assistant place jack back onto the floor and tilt on its front wheels. Rotate the release handle to the lowering position.TQB 2906T Hydraulic Garage Jack fig 7
  7. Ensure the lift arm returns to the fully lowered position.TQB 2906T Hydraulic Garage Jack fig 8
  8. Place jack on the floor and recheck the oil level, Refill to 6mm below the fill port if required before replacing the filler bung as per step 1.
  9. If the issue persists, please repeat steps 3 to 7.

At this point both the Pump and Lift Ram should be free of air and the Jack ready for operation. If the pump still feels spongy or load is slow to raise, seek the services of a qualified Hydraulic repairer.TQB 2906T Hydraulic Garage Jack fig 9
