MOUNTING CONSIDERATIONS
The Bow-mount Stabilizer Bracket is used to stabilize the Maxxum Mount and reduce bouncing when the motor is stowed and transported.
Attention to detail is needed for successful installation of the stabilizer. When the motor is stowed, the adjustable stabilizer is positioned vertically between the Upper Arm of the bracket and the deck of the boat. We recommend having the stabilizer kit installed by a qualified marine installer.
Installation of the Hold Down Strap
ITEM(S) NEEDED

a. Before mounting the trolling motor, place the Hold Down Strap (Item #10) under the Bow-mount between the Mounting Holes near the back of the motor rest, with the hook and loop side of the strap facing down.
b. Secure the Bow-mount with the Mounting Bolts included with the trolling motor to capture the Hold Down Strap as noted in the “Installation of the Bow-mount” section of the Owner’s Manual.
c. To secure, stow the motor, and then pull the Hold Down Strap through the rectangular Ring until snug. Press the hook pad of the strap, into the loop pad and secure. The Hold Down Strap should be used whenever the motor is stowed.
WARNING
When the motor is being transported, on water or land, it is important to place the motor completely out of water. The motor should be positioned up close to the Bowguard. The motor should be positioned on the Rails of the Motor Rest and in the stowed position. Release the Depth Collar and slide it along the Shaft until it makes contact with the Bowguard, then re-secure the Depth Collar. For added security during transport secure the Hold Down Strap. This provides a secure stow and holds the motor in place during transportation when it is subject to high levels of shock and vibration. Failure to secure the motor may result in injury or damage to the unit.
Installing the Bow-mount Stabilizer Kit
ITEM(S) NEEDED

a. Place the motor in the stowed position.
b. Measure from the Screw Hole in the Upper Arm to the Boat Deck or Gunwale. Add 3/4 of an inch to the total to get the correct Support Shaft length.
c. Take the Support Shaft (Item #6) and trim the bottom of the Support Shaft with a Hand Saw to the correct length. Round the cut edge with a File or Sandpaper.
CAUTION
Adjusting the Support Shaft too tightly removes the end play needed for proper latch pin engagement and doing so could prevent the mount from fully latching in the stowed position. Improper latching may cause damage. If installed correctly, the tip of the Support Shaft should lift off of the boat deck about 1/4” without the mount unlatching. Cutting the Support Shaft too short will cause inadequate support of the mount. Lack of mount support may cause damage.
ITEM(S) NEEDED

d. Secure the Support Shaft to the Bow-mount with the 1/4” Hex Head Screw (Item #2) and Lock Washers (Item #4). The Hex Head Screw should pass through a Lock Washer, then the Upper Arm of the Bow Mount, then another Lock Washer and into the Support Shaft.
e. Attach the Rubber Bumper (Item #8) to the bottom of the Support Shaft where it contacts the Boat Deck or Gunwale.
f. Verify that the motor locks into the stowed position when retracted. The Stabilizer should support the Bow-mount to prevent bouncing yet not interfere with the locking system. Adjust the Support Shaft length as needed.
