The CLUpdater 2 Interface 2 is a device used to update the
firmware of compatible devices. The firmware update process is done
through the Light Uploader V1.0 software which is not available on
the internet. The device has a USB-B port for connection to a
computer and a 3-pin DMX port for connection to the device being
updated. Updating more than eight devices simultaneously is not
recommended.

Prerequisites

  • Download the update file for the corresponding device from the
    newsletter attachment.
  • Download the Light Uploader V1.0 software from the newsletter
    attachment.

Preparing the Firmware Update

  1. Connect the USB-B port of the CLUpdater 2 interface with your
    computer.
  2. Connect the 3-pin DMX port of the CLUpdater 2 interface with
    the DMX port of the device you want to update.
  3. Open the Light Updater V1.0 software on your computer.
  4. In the dialogue window that opens, choose Fixture Firmware
    Upgrade.
  5. Choose Open and navigate to the update file folder on your
    computer and open it.
  6. Open the update files in ascending order one after another and
    run the update on each of the files:
  • Update the files with DISP in the filename in ascending
    order.
  • Update the files with CTR in the filename in ascending
    order.

Running the Firmware Update

  1. Set the Speed value to 96.
  2. Choose Upgrade to run the firmware update process.
  3. After the green progress bar reaches the far right, the
    Firmware Upgrade finish! dialogue window opens. Choose OK.
  4. Repeat the process for the remaining files.

Checking the Firmware Update

  1. Disconnect the DMX cable from the updated device. The device
    reboots.
  2. After the reboot of the device, check that the firmware update
    ran correctly. Check whether the full functionality of the updated
    device is still given.

2. Prerequisites
2.1 Download the update file for the corresponding device from the newsletter attachment. 2.2 Download the Light Uploader V1.0 software from the newsletter attachment.
The software is not available on the Internet.
3. Preparing the Firmware Update

Damage to the device and void of warranty. Only use the USB-B port to connect the CLUpdater 2 to your computer. Do not use the USB-A port on the opposite side.

3.1 Connect the USB-B port of the CLUpdater 2 interface with your computer (fig. 1)

Damage to the device and void of warranty. Do not update more than eight devices at the same time. Wait 30 seconds in between each step.

3.2 Connect the 3-pin DMX port of the CLUpdater 2 interface with the DMX port of the device you want to update.

If you plan on updating multiple devices, connect the following devices in daisy chain via DMX. If any device has a 5-pin DMX port, use an adapter 3-pin DMX (m) to 5-pin DMX (f).
3.3 Open the Light Updater V1.0 software on your computer.

3.4 In the dialogue window that opens, choose Fixture Firmware Upgrade (fig. 2). The red LED on the CLUpdater 2 interface starts to flash.

3.6 Navigate to the update file folder on your computer and open it.

3.7 Open the update files in ascending order one after another and run the update on each of the files (see 4. Running the Firmware Update) a. Update the files with DISP in the filename in ascending order (fig. 4).
b. Update the files with CTR in the file name in ascending order (fig.5).
4. Running the Firmware Update
Damage to the device and void of warranty. Only use the following value. Otherwise the update cannot perform correctly
4.1 Set the Speed value to 96 (fig. 6).
Damage to the device and void of warranty. During the update process, do not disconnect the devices from mains power or close the Light Uploader V1.0 software.
4.2 Choose Upgrade (fig. 7) to run the firmware update process.
4.3 After the green progress bar reaches the far right, the Firmware Upgrade finish! dialogue window opens. Choose OK (fig. 8).
4.4 Repeat the process for the remaining files (see 3.Preparing the Firmware Update, Step 3.5 to 3.7)
5. Checking the Firmware Update 5.1 Disconnect the DMX cable from the updated device. The device reboots. 5.2 After the reboot of the device, check that the firmware update ran correctly.
This is an individual process per device. For some devices you can see firmware version during the booting process, for others you must access this info manually in the menu.
5.3 Check whether the full functionality of the updated device is still given.
