FX182 Optical Channel Checker
Product Information
The FX182 OCC is a test set that provides firmware/software
updates for various features and enhancements. The current software
version is ver. 01.04.0001, which was released on October 20, 2022.
The firmware versions include Boot Rom version 4.0.1, CPLD version
10, and Fiber Tool Version 01.01.06.
The OCC (Optical Channel Checker) offers several new features
and improvements, including general enhancements such as fixing
WiFi/BT enabled option bug and minor UI improvements. It also
includes file operation and related enhancements such as the
ability to customize the set of optical channel plans through
R-Server.
Prior releases include ver. 01.02.0008, released on July 7,
2022, and ver. 01.02.0004, the initial release on November 22,
2021. These releases introduced various general enhancements, file
operation improvements, and bug fixes.
Product Usage Instructions
Upgrading Procedure via USB Memory Stick
1. Ensure that the test set can detect the memory stick before
starting the procedure.
2. Turn the test set’s power OFF.
3. Connect the USB stick via an OTG cable to the FX182 micro-USB
port and connect the AC adapter.
4. Option A (Clean Install): Turn the test set ON by pressing
the SAVE+POWER buttons simultaneously and holding them until a tone
(beep) is heard. Wait for the boot-up process to finish.
5. Option B (Preserve Settings and Data): Turn the test set ON
by pressing the POWER+HOME buttons simultaneously and holding them
until a tone (beep) is heard. Wait for the boot-up process to
finish.
6. The test set will reboot itself at the end of the upgrading
process.
Upgrading Procedure via WiFi or LAN
1. Ensure that the test set is ON and connected to WiFi or LAN
using the micro-B USB-RJ45 adapter cable.
2. Use a PC, Mac, tablet, or smartphone with access to the file
system and the ability to select the install package file.
3. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the test set
into the browser’s address/search field (e.g., 10.0.20.1). The test
set’s IP address is displayed at the bottom-left corner of the
screen.
4. Once the test set’s Web Remote Access page loads, select
“Upgrade” from the menu on the left side of the screen.
5. Tap or click on the “Select File” button and point it to the
Software Image file.
6. Tap or click on the “Upload” button to transfer the Software
Image file to the test set.
7. Once the file transfer is complete, tap or click on “Upgrade”
and let the test set go through the process without interruption.

Software Release Notes
Upgrading procedure
To download the latest software version available, go to https://www.veexinc.com/support/software, enter the first four characters of the test set’s serial number (e.g. TEBC) and use the links to download the software package and Release Notes to the PC. FX182 OCC image file can be recognized by its fx182-veex-arm.tar.gz file name. Extract this file from the ZIP folder and copy to the root of a FAT32 USB memory stick. This upgrade integrates the micro OSA software, Boot Rom, and CPLD into a single file. The test set must be connected to AC/DC charger at all times during the whole upgrade process. DO NOT turn it off at any time; the update process would take a few minutes. To verify the software version number installed, turn the test set back on, open the Utilities section, select Settings, and open About. You may also use the Web Remote Access to get the information
