JLR V6 Timing Tool Kit

Product Information

The Timing Tool Kit for JLR V6, part number 4273, is designed
for timing belt replacement on Jaguar Land Rover TDV6 2.7L and 3.0L
diesel engines. It is compatible with Land Rover, Range Rover, and
Jaguar vehicles manufactured from 2004 onwards.

The kit can be used for various Jaguar and Land Rover models,
including S-Type, XF, XJ6, F-Pace, Discovery, Range Rover Sport,
and Range Rover Velar. Please refer to the website for the most

Product Usage Instructions

1. Before using the timing tool kit, refer to the OEM derived
data such as the vehicle manufacturers’ own data or Autodata for
specific engine timing instructions.

2. Ensure that the engine is turned off and all necessary safety
precautions are taken.

3. Identify the appropriate components from the kit based on the
OEM references provided.

4. Use the Camshaft Sprocket Aligning Tool (C322) to align the
camshaft sprocket correctly.

5. Use the Camshaft Sprocket Timing Pins (C323) to ensure
precise timing of the camshaft sprocket.

6. If the vehicle has a manual transmission, use the Flywheel
Locking Tool (C324) to lock the flywheel in place. If it has an
automatic transmission, use the Flywheel Locking Tool (C325)
instead.

7. Follow the specific instructions provided in the OEM
documentation or workshop manual for your vehicle model.

8. Always exercise caution and follow safety guidelines while
using the timing tool kit.

Note: For 3.0 engines, the use of the 6183 Diesel Fuel Pump
Locking Tool – for JLR is also required.

Warning ­ Incorrect or out of phase engine timing can result in damage to the valves. It is always recommended to turn the engine slowly, by hand, and to re-check the camshaft and crankshaft timing positions.

Safety Warnings – please read

· If the engine has been identified as an Interference engine, damage to the engine will occur if the timing belt has been damaged. A compression check of all the cylinders should be taken before the cylinder head (s) are removed.
· Do not turn crankshaft or camshaft when the timing belt/chain has been removed.
· To make turning the engine easier, remove the spark plugs/glow plugs or injectors.
· Observe all tightening torques.
· Do not turn the engine using the camshaft or any other sprocket.
· Disconnect the battery earth lead (check Radio code is available).

· Do not use cleaning fluids on belts, sprockets or rollers.
· Some toothed timing belts are not interchangeable. Check the replacement belt has the correct tooth profile.
· Always mark the belt with the direction of running before removal.
· Do not lever or force the belt onto its sprockets.
· Do not use timing pins to lock the engine when slackening or tightening the crankshaft pulley bolts.
· ALWAYS REFER TO A REPUTABLE MANUFACTURERS WORKSHOP MANUAL.
