Hide Skimmer Box Cover Instruction Manual

Skimmer Box Cover

Product Information

The Hide Skimmer Cover is a patented product designed to cover
the skimmer box in swimming pools. It is made up of a frame, lid,
and key, and is available in different kit sizes. The skimmer box
cover is protected by international and U.S. design patents.

The kit includes the following materials and tools:

  • A Hide Safety Key: This key is used to safely open and close
the installed Hide cover. Single key models are available in kits
10, 20, and 30mm, while double key models are available in kits 40,
    50, and 60mm.
  • D Edge Protector: This frame is inserted into a recess within
the landscaped area to protect the coping/surrounds from chipping
    or breakage.
  • B Height Adjuster: This is a tray that holds the inlay material
and provides an extra 5mm (3/16) height if the inlay material is
not thick enough to achieve a flush finish with the top of the
Inlay Cover. It suits both single key and double key models.
  • E Adhesive: Hide Adhesive is used when assembling the Inlay
Cover. It needs to be inserted into a caulking gun for use.
  • F Info Pack for the Homeowner: This pack includes the
Homeowners Manual and Warranty information, which should be passed
on to the homeowner after installation.

Additional equipment needed for installation includes a circular
saw, angle grinder, personal protective equipment (PPE), level work
surface, tape measure and marker, sponge and water, caulking gun,
general purpose bucket, mortar, mortar bed mix, grout, grout and
spacers, trowel, and expansion joint gap filler.

Depending on the installation location, the Hide product may
need to be installed with different types of landscaping materials
or grout lines. It can be installed to be virtually invisible with
extra care.

Product Usage Instructions

1. Assembling the Inlay Cover

  1. Cut the tile or stone inlay to the desired size.
  2. Mark up and cut a keyway at the center of the inlay material,
    with a width of 6mm (1/4).
  3. Clean and dry the inlay material. If using tumbled or chiselled
edge tile/stone, cut all four edges for a better finish.
  4. Position the keyway on the tile edge closest to the pool.
Ensure that the key fits the keyway before gluing. Note: Two-key
    models require two keyways.

2. Fitting Tile/Stone Inlay

Note: Failure to complete these steps may result in a weak
adhesive bond. Ensure that bonding materials are fully dry before
bonding, especially in cold weather.

  1. Calculate the amount of adhesive required by measuring the
height difference between the Inlay Cover and the inlay material
    thickness.
  2. If the height difference is under 3mm (1/8), proceed to the
    next step.

IMPORTANT CONTRACTOR INFORMATION
EARTHING (BONDING) RULES AND REGULATIONS HIDE products are constructed from 316 marine grade stainless steel, and are considered a conductive material. Safety regulations vary and you should consult your local authority to determine what rules may apply in your area. Bonding is the responsibility of the installer, attachment points have been provided to allow for use of bonding devices if required. Check your local regulations to ensure the installation meets electrical safety requirements.
D

!!SAFETY FIRST!!
REMOVE KEY FROM COVER

PASS KEY TO HOMEOWNER

NEVER leave the HIDE Safety Key in the cover for any reason, especially after install.
Leaving the Safety Key in the top of an installed cover may be dangerous, as it enables children to access the Skimmer.

DO NOT RISK IT – HIDE recommends that once the cover is installed, the Safety Key is passed to the homeowner and is stored securely.

NO ACID / CHEMICAL WASH CONTACT
ACID and chemical washes will cause discolouration and/or rusting on the stainless steel HIDE components. Acid or chemical contact will void the HIDE warranty.

SAFE WORK PRACTICES
ALWAYS be conscious of your and co-workers’ safety while assembling and installing the HIDE components. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn, especially when cutting tiles and using adhesive. Recommended PPE includes eye and ear protection, gloves, dust mask and safety boots.
7

ACCESS & INSPECTION

OTHER PRODUCTS DRAIN

CONCRETE WET POUR

The HIDE Access and Inspection Covers can be used for underground service points including: water table inspection pipe (typically close to the skimmer box); grey water inspections outlets (IO); water tanks; balance tanks; taps and irrigation; valves and meters.

The HIDE Drain Cover can be used in most outdoor areas, including patios, decks and pathways allowing for a water intake compatible with a standard 90mm or 100mm drainage network.
HIDE Drain Covers not only look amazing but provide superior safety and performance.

The HIDE Concrete Cover is filled and finished at the same time as the pool surrounds. This ensures this cover perfectly matches the selected surface finish in both texture and colour. If you are wanting to finish your pool surrounds in a material like polished or decorative concrete, this is the product for you!
