Introduction

The 24″ Illuminated Outdoor Clock with Thermometer and Humidity Sensor from AcuRite offers both aesthetic appeal and usefulness, day or night. It has an embedded light sensor that turns on a cosy, ambient backlight when it becomes dark outside. This works well as a utilitarian addition to any patio or garden thanks to its sturdy all-weather construction. It is ideal for indoor décor thanks to its chic, modern style. Additionally, it has a dependable quartz crystal movement, precise humidity and temperature sensors, and legible Roman numerals. The humidity sensor provides measurements between 1% and 99% relative humidity, while the thermometer registers temperatures between 0 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. An instruction manual and an integrated hang hole are both included with this clock for simple wall hanging.

The clock needs one (1) AA alkaline or lithium battery, while the backlight needs four (4) D alkaline batteries (not included). Lithium batteries are advised for use in below -4°F/-20°C conditions. Limited guarantee of one year.

Install or Replace Batteries
AcuRite recommends high quality alkaline or lithium* batteries for the best product performance. Heavy duty or rechargeable batteries are not recommended. *The clock movement requires a lithium battery in low temperature conditions. Cold temperatures can cause alkaline batteries to function improperly. Use a lithium battery in the clock movement for temperatures below -4°F / -20°C. Insert 1 x AA alkaline or lithium battery into the clock movement’s battery compartment. Insert 2 x D alkaline batteries into each backlight battery compartment. Follow the polarity (+/-) diagrams in each battery compartment. Replace the weather-resistant covers.

Set the switch above the left backlight battery compartment to the desired backlight mode

  • T: 4 Hour Timer – Clock illuminates when dark, for period of 4 hours. *
  • A: Always On – Clock remains illuminated when dark.

However, as with all instruments that are placed in a new location, you should always allow a period of at least 3 hours for stabilization before determining whether it is reading accurately. Should you determine that an adjustment of the thermometer or hygrometer is needed, this can be achieved by gently rotating the back of the thermometer or hygrometer movement on the back of the unit, as illustrated, slowly in either direction until the correct reading is shown on the dial.

FAQs

How is it powered?

it is powered by four D batteries

Is this an automic clock?

This clock is not an Atomic clock. The time will need to be adjusted manually.

Is this clock bronze or black?

It was black. However, I sent two of them back because they quit telling time. It was a beautiful clock. I thought that maybe the first clock had a bad movement, but the replacement clock had the same issue. Brand new batteries didn’t fix either of them. I don’t recommend.

How often do the batteries need to be replaced?

I purchased this clock for outdoor use by our pool. I got it late spring and I have not replaced the batteries yet. Runs great, looks great and is holding up well in the weather.

Is this clock loud?

You may hear a soft ticking noise from the movement of the clock mechanism. Otherwise, this clock does not make any other sounds.

If I’m not planning to use the backlight illumination feature, is it a waste of money to buy this clock as opposed to a different model?

I understand your concern. As a buyer of MANY large outside clocks only to be disappointed – the hands always end up pointing at 6:30, this clock is still working.

Does it come with mounting screw?

Mounting screws are not included with this clock.

Can I place this clock in direct sunlight?

No, the white face plat will discolor and turn brown in direct sunlight. The sun is very powerful you know?

Does this clock have a cover for the battery and working parts?

Yes!

How much does the clock weigh?

This clock will weigh about 12 pounds.

Is there a replacement for the battery operated clock?

The clock doesn’t come with batteries, you have to buy some. There are 2 places for batteries., the first you need C batteries for the back light and the other place is for the clock itself. I think those wetr AA.

Is this clock weather resistant?

This clock is weather-resistant but not waterproof. We recommend mounting the clock out of direct sunlight and rainfall for the greatest accuracy and life expectancy.

How do you get the light to stay on. We have tried all setting and the light flashes for a few seconds and that it.

The light should stay on either for 4 hours with the appropriate setting or come on when dark when it is on the “always on” setting. To make sure that it isn’t in a place that may be getting to much artificial light I would bring the clock inside a dark room and see if it stays on for more then a few seconds.

Has anyone had trouble with the temperature and humidity dials not working?

We have had ours for about a year now and no trouble with the temperature and humidity dials not working.

Does the light attract bugs?

I used mine indoors and it was beautiful. However, it stopped working within days of hanging it up. I switched batteries and tried again. It would work for a day or two, then stop. I returned and ordered another of the same clock. The same thing happened. I returned that one as well. I’m thinking these clocks have bad movements in them. I don’t know how else to explain it.
