GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
In the event of malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. The appliance must be connected to a cord having an equipmentgrounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

A. DANGER – Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. The conductor with insulation having an outer surface that is green with or without yellow stripes is the equipment grounding conductor. If repair or replacement of the cord or plug is necessary, do not connect the equipment-grounding conductor to a live terminal. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if in doubt as to whether the [tool/appliance] is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug connected to the [tool/appliance] – if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.

SUPPLY CIRCUIT
The appliance is for use on a nominal 120V circuit and should be connected to a grounding outlet that looks like the one illustrated below. The use of a temporary adaptor is not recommended.

POWER SUPPLY CORD

  • Avoid the use of an extension cord because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions. Have a qualified electrician or serviceman to install an outlet near the appliance.
  • If it is absolutely necessary to use an extension cord, extreme care must be exercised.
    • Use only a grounding type 3-wire extension cord that has a 3-blade grounding plug and a 3-slot receptacle that will accept the plug on the appliance.
    • The marked electrical rating of the extension cord must equal to or greater than the electrical rating of the appliance. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.

The absence of a compressor reduces the noise and vibration usually associated with refrigerated appliances.

CLEANING AND CARE

  • To avoid electric shock always unplug the wine cellar before cleaning. Ignoring this warning may result in death or injury.
  • Before using cleaning products, always read and follow manufacturer’s instructions and warnings to avoid personal injury or product damage.
  • General:  Prepare a cleaning solution of 3-4 tablespoons of baking soda mixed with warm water. Use sponge or soft cloth, dampened with the cleaning solution to wipe down your wine cellar.

FAQS

How long is power cord with plug?
Power cord is about 6’ long

can the floor legs be removed or adjusted?
One of the legs adjusts to level the unit. You want the box up off the counter for air flow.

How much weight on top can it support? Keep small 43″ TV?
Not a great idea to place a heat generating appliance near a wine cooler, which is unlikely to support the weight or to provide a stable platform.

How tall is it?
14.5” tall. 10” wide. 20” deep.

Can you store a fur in it?
Well, you could, but probably wouldn’t like the results!

what’s the correct outside height?
There might be some confusion because 3 sizes of wine coolers are presented on one page

What does thermoelectric cooling mean? How does it work?
Thermo-electric refers to the use of Peltier devices, rather than compressor circulation for cooling the air.

I’m guessing the listed 19.8 x 9.7 x 14.9″ are the exterior dimensions. what are the interior dimensions?
Inside dimensions are 7.25” wide, 11.5” deep, 11″ tall. Holds 6 regular size wine/liquor bottles on their side with 3 removable metal racks.

Description says hinges are on the left, picture shows door hinges on the right. Are door hinges reversible?
The hinges are on the right and there is no easy way to reverse the door. You’d have to turn the door upside down and then drill holes

Are the shelves removable
Yes they shelves removable

How many legs are supposed to come with this?
My unit rests on 3 large circumference legs and one leg that is smaller in circumference.

Will the shelves hold champagne bottles?
to place one champagne bottle on the bottom shelf, alongside a red wine bottle. But the champagne bottle would not fit on either upper shelf, nor could a second bottle fit on the bottom shelf at the same time.

For the 6 bottle version – does the 14.9 inch height include the legs AND the little hinge at the top right?
My unit measures 14 15/16″ high, from counter top to top of hinge. Be sure to leave some room around this or any similar device for air to circulate. Very happy with my unit so far! Best of luck.

What is the energy usage?
The 6-bottle Black & Decker carries an “Energy Star” certification, is billed as “energy efficient,” and claims an annual energy consumption of 90 Watts.

Does this hold 1.5 liter bottles?
No – the magnums I tried were about 1″ too tall to allow the door to close.
