Frequently Asked Questions
The product I purchased performs properly. If your receiver doesn’t come with an amplifier designed for a subwoofer, you’ll need to buy one to use with this subwoofer. From Parts Express, I purchased the Bash 300S Digital Subwoofer Plate Amplifier 300W RMS. My surround sound system is quite effective. Make sure the speaker grating is fastened. They send you some putty, but it doesn’t work very well. I secured the grate inside by using silicone. If not, it will vibrate loose.
In my experience, similar receivers are excellent value for the money. Although my next-door neighbours have mentioned it, I don’t turn it up loud enough for my neighbours down the block to hear it. You should be alright if you set your amp’s crossover so that your subwoofer will receive the majority of the bass (80 to 100 hz). I have had no problems during my more than a year of use.
The centre speaker should often be placed immediately beneath the TV. This will most accurately replicate sound emanating from the TV and should be at or near ear level. Directly above the TV is the next-best position if you can’t place it there. The key is to keep it within close proximity of the TV.
The most crucial speaker in a surround sound arrangement is the centre channel speaker because it handles the bulk of the work.
So I would absolutely suggest using a centre channel speaker if your family or friends watch movies together. However, a centre speaker is rarely essential and almost usually performs worse than the left and right speakers for one or two persons watching TV while seated immediately in front of it.
The subwoofer should be placed on the floor on either side of the screen, and the front left and right speakers should be positioned at a 22 to 30 degree angle. The two front stereo channels should ideally be placed two to three feet away from the wall and at ear level.
It is best to set these speakers between 90 and 110 degrees from the listener’s location, but make sure to do so far above ear level to prevent any distracting or artificial ambient noise processing. These speakers work best when mounted 2 to 3 feet above ear level.
In a surround sound setup, in-wall speakers can be fully functional and offer additional advantages.
Quality in-wall or in-ceiling speakers have several advantages for a home entertainment system when they are put properly. Some advantages to consider include decreased sound reflection, increased gains, a sleeker profile, and a more adaptable layout design.
Keep in mind that walls also reflect sound. At least two to three feet should separate speakers from the closest wall (especially if your speaker is in a corner). Many speakers have bass ports that face the back. A rear bass port that is too close to a wall will reflect sound waves, blurring time.
In-wall speakers are tuned while they are installed in a wall. This is taken into consideration during the design of the enclosure and the drivers, ensuring that once you install them at home, the system sounds identical to one from a speaker located farther away from the listening area.
Any time you mount a speaker in your ceiling or wall, a backbox should be used. The advantages of using these tools outweigh any drawbacks. Back boxes are essential to the overall value of your built-in speaker investments because they provide soundproofing, sonic enhancements, and speaker protection.
Even if you don’t have any immediate plans to move or sell, a built-in audio system will increase the value of your home if you ever decide to list it for sale. Customers will think they are receiving an added benefit if there are stylish in-wall or in-ceiling speakers.
The speakers must be positioned horizontally for the optimal stereo performance because sound propagates more to the sides of the speakers. Vertical mounting is also an option, although the stereo effect will be reduced.
NO. The wall cavity is intended to be used by in-wall speakers in their output curve. Regular speakers will sound terrible in walls and they sound terrible coming out of walls.
