A rotary vane vacuum pump in its simplest definition is a type of pump technology that enables the compression of air inside the pump chamber to create suction for the removal of air molecules from a vessel or area. The rotary vane vacuum pump works on a positive-displacement pumping principle.
Pfeiffer Vacuum rotary vane pumps cover an extremely wide range of pumping speeds from 1.25 to 1,600 m3/h (60 Hz to 1,920 m3/h). Two different types of pumps are available to choose from: single-stage and two-stage rotary vane pumps.
If the pump cannot move at all, possible reasons may include too low a starting temperature, an oil level that is too high, or foreign matter in the pump such as oxide or welding slag.
During the initial part of the evacuation process, the gas ballast should be opened, allowing relatively dry atmospheric air to enter the vacuum pump. Once the system’s micron level approaches about 3,000 microns, it should be closed for the remainder of the evacuation process.
The pump needs to run the entire time to keep the vacuum at the fullest level. My chambers do not even have a valve between the pump and chamber for this very reason. As soon as you shut off the vacuum, the level of vacuum inside the chamber begins to slowly go down.
