For Shaft Seal Assembly

Disconnect unit from the electrical power supply.
Remove knife shaft assembly.
Use a seal spanner wrench (Fig. 1) to remove the existing seal. Make sure bowl threads and seal areas are cleaned and free of any foreign material.
Prepare a new seal (1, Fig. 2) for installation by using the Dow Corning 111 compound from the seal kit. First cover the exposed area of the “0” ring (2, Fig. 2 and 3, Fig. 3) with the compound Next use this sealing compound to fill the seal cavity (2, Fig. 3). Now place a film of the lubricant on the lip of the seal (1, Fig. 3)
Inspect shaft sleeve (4, Fig. 3) for wear grooves or a build-up of foreign material. Clean or replace if necessary. apply a coat of #111 grease to the entire surface of the sleeve.
Assemble the new seal hand-tight. Be extreme ly careful not to damage the seal when sliding the seal onto the motor shaft and also make sure the seal and bowl threads are properly aligned.
Tighten new seal with the spanner wrench (Fig.
