Frequently Asked Questions
- What changes were made from the Sennheiser HD 201 model to the 206? they look identical but presumably, something is different?
The previous answer is incorrect, both the HD 201 and HD 206 are closed-back headphones. The products are identical other than the model number and the packaging. - How’s long the cord?
The cord is about 3 yards (>9′) not counting the part that splits to a “V” near the ear cup which is an additional 12″. - Is the chord detachable?
No. It is a long chord and can get in the way. I use a small cable tie (from Lowe’s or Home Depot) to shorten it and help manage it when I don’t need the full length. - Can I get an extension cord with them?
You can order an extra cord to fit them. They are great sounding. Closed-back. Amazon does sell cords to exte - Does it have a mic?
No - What is the wire-like? Is it real copper or nylon foil wrapped?
It’s a cheap plastic/rubber-like material. It’s a long cable too. About 4-5 ft. - One side of the earphones has quit working. How do I make a warranty claim?
Contact Sennheiser, there should have been a pamphlet in the box with a warranty statement. If not try Amazon and see if they can help. Like David said be nice but firm. - How do the HD 206’s compare with akg k240 pro for neutrality (mixing/mastering)?
The HD 206 is a tracking headphone. I suggest you use an open-back headphone to mix and master like the HD 650 which I use. - Can you use these with an Epiphone acoustic-electric pr 4e guitar?
If the 4E has a mini-jack capability. - By which company does the shipment?
I don’t know. The shipment arrived on schedule in good condition. - Are the ear cups replaceable?
Yes. Do a search for HD 206 Ear-Pad replacements and search on YouTube for a video. - Do these have a straight input or an L-shaped input?
Good day, and thank you for your question. The HD 206 has a straight 3.5mm audio input connector. Hopefully, this helps, and have a good afternoon. - Do these have felt ear cushions?
This is a pretty good utility headset that has plastic-covered foam ear cushions. I find them comfortable for my not-too-small ears. I also wear over-the-ear hearing aids and if I position the cushions carefully, they cover my ears and not the hearing aids. So I can continue to hear ambient sounds…for example if someone is trying to get my attention to talk to me…without interfering with the sound coming through the headset. I know when the cushions are in place since there is no feedback when just my ears are covered. - Does it come with a case?
No these headphones do not come with a case. - Will these completely cover full-size ears and rest against the head?
It depends on what you classify as “full-size ears” but mine fit comfortably inside the ear cups and those do help isolate some of the ambient sounds from the room. - Is the ear cup round or oval?
The ear cup on the HD-206 is slightly oval. It is also very comfortable - Weird question, but how deep are the cups? I play the cello and use my sony MDR xd200s, while perfect, for play-along, but they hit my tuning pegs.
They’re fairly low profile for full-sized headphones if that makes sense. The cup is 1″ deep in total so that’s the standoff at the ears. - Are these sturdy?
These are normally sturdy, not weak or flimsy. I bought the HD203 first and now I have the HD206. I see no real difference in strength between them or any other that I have used. - Do these pick up binaural beats?
Technically, the answer is yes. Whether the brain can separate these perceived tones from those headphones are designed to reproduce is another story.
