FAQS

will this work on an X-T10?

Hello, This lens is fully functional on the X-T10.

does it have moving part noises? the one i received does while detached as well…none of my other primes do

Yes. It’s the magnets moving and it’s perfectly normal.

Amazon notes that this lens ships with “frustration free packaging.” Does that mean it’s different than fuji’s standard packaging for lenses?

Amazon is starting to indicate “frustration free” as non blister pack in general. Both of mine were normal and I purchased another lens from Amazon Warehouse recently that said “frustration free” but it was oem packaging but in a clear plastic bag for protection

is this good for wide angle portrait photography?

This is a telephoto lense and is used for telephoto portraits. Now of course if you have plenty of room to back yourself away from your subject it can be used for some wide portraits.

Which country is this lens made in?

Cameta Camera sells the Fujifilm 90mm f/2 XF R LM WR Lens that was made in Japan

Does this have internal stabilization?

It doesn’t, however, you shouldn’t let that prevent you from getting it. As a 135mm (35mm equivalent) and one of, if not fuji’s fastest prime, this is a spectacular piece of glass.

Ignoring personal preferences, how is this better or worse than the 56mm?

it suits the purpose of getting closer to your subject very well if you are looking to do a waist up type of portrait photography compared to the 56mm. It’s just as sharp as the 56mm also

I can hear something moving inside the lens if i shake it gently. this goes away when i mount it. is this normal?

When the lens is not mounted on a camera or the camera is turned off, there is a loose AF group which rattles when “shaking” the lens. This is due to its linear quad AF motor that use 4 magnets to drive the AF group and it is absolutely normal

will this work on an X-T100?

Yes, this will work on the Fuji X-T100. The lens and the camera use the X-mount.

Should this rattle when i tip it?

Yes It had multiple copies, they all do, it is normal operation. The rattle stops when lens is mounted and power is on

Does this Lens come with a Hood?

Yes, it comes with a detachable hood that can be fitted in reverse in order to pack it in a lens case. The interesting thing is that the hood comes with a little window on the side that opens and closes to let you adjust your polarizing filter.

Does it work with fujiX100f?

No. The x100F is a fixed lens camera. You’ll need a body such as the XT2 that uses interchangeable lenses.

Anybody use the 100-400 with the 2x tc. How’s the image quality?

There will be image quality degradation using the X2. The x1.4 is better at keeping image quality compared to no extender.

Rotates just a tiny bit (maybe 3-5 degrees) when locked on my x-pro2, is this cause for concern?

This does not occur on my X-Pro2. The question is do the lens and body electronic contacts align so that the lens operates correctly? If so, then there is no problem, if not, there is a defect.

How’s the autofocus speed? Good enough for bird photography?

Very good autofocus speed with xpro2 and fairly decent light. Have obtained photos easily equal to the Nikon 100-400 (newer version). Seemed to focus quickly on hawk in a dark tree but I haven ‘t evaluated that too carefully. Focus has been accurate. Good sharp pictures.
