Product Information:
The product is a fuse assignment supplement for Mercedes-Benz
vehicles. It includes information on the assignment of fuses and
relays in the engine compartment, in the rear compartment, and in
the pre-fuse box next to the starter battery in the seat base of
the right-hand front seat. The manual also provides information on
symbols used in the instructions, notes on fuses and relays, and
general notes.
Product Usage Instructions:
Before replacing a fuse, follow these steps:
- Apply the parking brake.
- For vehicles with automatic transmission, shift the
transmission to position j. For vehicles with manual transmission,
shift to neutral. - Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Remove the key from the ignition lock.
To open and close the engine compartment fuse box, follow these
steps:
- Open the hood and remove any existing moisture from the fuse
box using a dry cloth. - Open retaining clamps 2 and unhook them from the fuse box.
- Fold out cover 1 upwards in the direction of the arrow and
remove it. - To close the fuse box, check that the seal sits correctly in
cover 1. Hook cover 1 in at the back and fold it down. Hook in
retaining clamps 2 on the fuse box and close. - Close the hood (see the vehicle’s Operating Instructions).
Note that if you manipulate or bridge a faulty fuse or if you
replace it with a fuse with a higher amperage, the electric line
could be overloaded, which could result in a fire. Always replace
faulty fuses with specified new fuses containing the correct
amperage. Also, when the fuse box is open, make sure that no
moisture can enter the fuse box. When closing the fuse box, make
sure that the seal of the lid is positioned correctly on the fuse
box.

Notes on fuses and relays
& WARNING Risk of accident and injury due to overloaded lines
If you manipulate or bridge a faulty fuse or if you replace it with a fuse with a higher amperage, the electric line could be overloa- ded. This could result in a fire. # Always replace faulty fuses with speci-
fied new fuses containing the correct amperage.
Preparing to replace a fuse # Apply the parking brake. # Vehicles with automatic transmission:
shift the transmission to position j. # Vehicles with manual transmission: shift
to neutral. # Switch off all electrical consumers. # Remove the key from the ignition lock.
* NOTE Damage or malfunctions caused by moisture
Moisture may cause damage to the electrical system or cause it to malfunction. # When the fuse box is open, make sure
that no moisture can enter the fuse box. # When closing the fuse box, make sure
that the seal of the lid is positioned cor- rectly on the fuse box.
The electrical fuses in your vehicle switch off defective circuits. If a fuse blows, all the compo- nents on the circuit and their functions will cease to operate. Replace faulty fuses with fuses of the same type that have the fuse rating recommended in the fol- lowing overviews. Fuses of the same type can be recognized by the color and fuse rating. A quali- fied specialist workshop will be happy to advise you. If a new fuse blows again, have the cause deter- mined and rectified at a qualified specialist work- shop. The fuses and relays are split between the follow- ing fuse boxes in the vehicle: R Fuse box in the engine compartment (PDCE) R Fuse box in the co-driver footwell (PDCP) R Fuse box in the co-driver footwell on the A-pil-
lar (PDCF) R Fuse box in the rear compartment (PDCR) R Pre-fuse box next to the starter battery in the
seat base of the right-hand front seat
Always have the fuses in the pre-fuse box and the relays in the fuse boxes replaced at a qualified specialist workshop.
