B6351 Mission Beach Outdoor Wall Sconce

Product Information

The B6351 is a lighting fixture that is designed to be installed
on a standard round or octagon box or a through outlet box with a
plaster frame. The fixture includes a mounting plate, ground wire,
white and black fixture lead wires, glass, rings and screws. The
fixture is rated for Max 60 watt type T or B lamps. It is important
to follow all instructions and guidelines provided in the user
manual to ensure safe installation and usage of the fixture.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Before starting installation, ensure that power is disconnected
    from the fixture. Read all instructions completely before starting
    installation.
  2. Ensure that the fixture is installed in compliance with all
    applicable national and local electrical/building codes to avoid
    the risk of fire or shock. Installation and maintenance of this
    unit requires an electrician or certified factory trained
    technician.
  3. If an existing fixture is being replaced, remove it and note to
    which of the wires in the outlet box the fixture was attached. Do
    not separate any other wires that may be in the box. Do not damage
    the insulation of older wiring.
  4. Follow the instructions provided to prepare the fixture for
    installation and ensure that all parts are found before discarding
    the carton.
  5. Attach the mounting plate to the outlet box using the provided
    screws. Fasten the ground wire to the green or bare copper wire in
    the outlet box or to the green screw on the crossbar. Never fasten
    the ground wire to the black or hot wire as this could result in
    serious injury or death.
  6. Fasten the white fixture lead wire to the white wire in the
    outlet box and fasten them together with an approved fastener (wire
    nut). Tightly wrap the connection with electrical tape starting
    about 1 inch below the fastener to seal the end of the fastener.
    Ensure that there is no exposed wire or strands that could cause a
    dangerous short circuit.
  7. Connect the black fixture lead wire to the black wire in the
    outlet box and fasten them together as in step 5.
  8. Put a bead of weatherproof caulking or silicone sealant around
    the inside edge of the back of the fixture to prevent water from
    flowing into the outlet box. Do not plug the drain hole.
  9. Using the screws provided, fasten the backplate to the outlet
    box and slide the glass and rings up using the tool provided.
    Secure the screw ring to the socket.
  10. Install the lamps (light bulbs) as per the instructions
    provided. Do not exceed the maximum rating of 60 watts for type T
    or B lamps.

CAUTION
TO AVOID THE RISK OF FIRE OR SHOCK, FIXTURE MUST BE INSTALLED IN COMPLIANCE WITH
ALL APPLICABLE NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTRICAL/BUILDING CODES.
INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THIS UNIT REQUIRES AN ELECTRICIAN OR
CERTIFIED FACTORY TRAINED TECHNICIAN.
If an existing fixture is being replaced, remove it and note to which of the wires in the outlet box the fixture was attached. DO NOT SEPARATE ANY OTHER WIRES THAT MAY BE IN THE BOX. DO NOT DAMAGE THE INSULATION OF OLDER WIRING. In regular circumstances the BLACK wire will be the “Hot” lead wire and the WHITE wire will be the “Neutral” or “Common” lead wire. A GREEN or BARE COPPER wire is the “Ground”. In older buildings it is always good practice to reconfirm the polarity of the wiring.

This fixture is designed to be mounted on a correctly installed standard round or octagon box or a through outlet box with a plaster frame. The box must be securely mounted to the structure of the building. The mounting bar and hardware supplied should be used. Directly mounting the fixture to the outlet box may make it impossible to correctly align the fixture.
NOTE: For your safety be certain that the circuit breakers controlling outdoor lighting and equipment are GFI breakers
FIXTURE PREPARATION 1. Remove the fixture, parts and parts bag(s) from the carton.
NOTICE:
Before discarding the carton, double check to make certain that all parts are found.
FIXTURE INSTALLATION 1. (Starting at the back), thread the 2 longest screws into the mounting plate. (The green ground screw is the front). Attach the mounting plate to the outlet box. (The green screw should face out). 2. Fasten the ground wire to the green or bare copper wire in the outlet box or to the green screw on the crossbar.
WARNING
Never fasten the ground wire to the black or “hot” wire! Failure to follow this instruction could result in serious injury or death!

3. Fasten the white fixture lead wire to the white wire in the outlet box. Fasten the wires together with an approved fastener (wire nut). Starting about 1″ below the fastener, tightly wrap the connection With electrical tape so that the connection seals the end of the fastener.

Make sure that there is no exposed wire or strands that could cause a dangerous short circuit!

Fasten the joined wires as in step 3. 5. To prevent water from flowing into the outlet box ,put a bead of weatherproof caulking
or silicone sealant around the inside edge of the back. DO NOT PLUG THE DRAIN HOLE! 6. Using the screws , fasten the backplate to the outlet box. 7. Slide the glass and rings up using the tool and secure the screw ring to the socket. 8. Install the lamps (light bulbs). NOTE: This fixture is rated for Max 60 watt type T or B lamps .
WARNING
DO NOT EXCEED RECOMMENDED WATTAGE! 9. Restore power to circuit at breaker or fuse box.
