| 6. If a subwoofer is installed in your vehicle, it is important to secure it firmly. We recommend that you attach the enclosure to the floor or chassis of the vehicle for safety. To obtain the best results from this product, we recommend that you follow carefully all the information contained in this user’s manual. If not correctly followed, any fault observed may not be covered by the warranty.
Important recommendations
First of all, check the space available for fitting the speaker drivers (refer to the plans on the packaging) then proceed with the cutting required. If mounted in the factory location, check that there is sufficient space between the speaker driver and the protective grille.
- Clear the speaker drivers of any metal shavings and dust particles.
- Clean carefully before mounting the speaker drivers.
Conditions of warranty
All Focal loudspeakers are covered by warranty drawn up by the official Focal distributor in your country. Your distributor can provide all details concerning the conditions of warranty. Warranty cover extends at least to that granted by the legal warranty in force in the country where the original purchase invoice was issued.
Our policy of continual product improvement means that Focal-JMlab reserves the right to modify the technical specifications of its products without notice. Product may vary from images.
Choosing the location
Before you begin installation, carefully choose where you would like to fit the speaker drivers. The location of each speaker driver will have an impact on the final acoustic rendering.
- Place the tweeters in one of the three locations shown in Fig. 1

(ASE 130 | ASE 165 | ASE 165 S).
Note: the closer the tweeter is to the listener’s ears, the higher the treble level. Adjusting the treble level on the source can compensate for these variations. - Place the woofers in one of the three locations shown in Fig. 2.

Fitting the woofers
Once you have chosen the speaker driver location, attach it directly to the car door, or to a spacer using the screws provided. If the speaker driver is visible, fit the grille provided as shown in Fig. 3 to prevent any impact that could damage the woofer.
Fitting the tweeters
Once you have chosen the location, you can fit the tweeter in one of two ways
- If you choose to fit the tweeter to the surface, in a location that you have created, use Fig. 4 (Flush mount).

- If you install the tweeter in an existing location, you can remove the front and back to reduce its size and position it more easily (Fig. 5).
