RAK204U 265 Volt Sub-Base

Product Information

The RAK204U, RAK204D15C, RAK204D20C, RAK204D30C, RAK204E15C,
RAK204E20C, and RAK204E30C are sub-bases used for electrical
installations. They have different voltage and amperage ratings
depending on the model.

• RAK204U: Non-electrical sub-base
• RAK204D15C: 265V, 15A
• RAK204D20C: 265V, 20A
• RAK204D30C: 265V, 30A
• RAK204E15C: 230/208V, 15A
• RAK204E20C: 230/208V, 20A
• RAK204E30C: 230/208V, 30A

The product also includes a junction box (RAK4002D) and various
screws, clips, and accessories for installation.

Product Usage Instructions

1. Before installation, ensure that the electrical power is
   disconnected.
2. Assemble the sub-base to the sleeve provided before securing
   the sleeve in the wall.
3. Electrical wiring may enter the sub-base through the knockout
   holes on the bottom or rear of the sub-base.
4. Refer to the unit nameplate for the specific branch circuit
   requirements.
5. All wiring should comply with local electrical codes and
   regulations.
6. Do not use the product for aluminum wire applications.
7. If electrical wiring is placed in or against the sub-base
   enclosure, the sub-base must be grounded. Use the provided green
   grounding screws and securing nuts.
8. For installation of the junction box, follow the instructions
   included with the Power Supply Kit or RAK4002D Junction Box
   Kit.
9. If installing 265V units, use the round hole at the bottom of
   the junction box to attach conduit from the branch circuit. Leave 6
   inches of wire free at the end of the conduit for connections.
10. For fuse and fuse holder installation, use the knockout at the
    side of the junction box. Ensure that the fuse and fuse holder have
    the same rating as the branch circuit. Leadwires can be soldered or
    attached with UL-listed 1/4 female crimp connectors.

Important Notes
· This unit must be properly grounded. · Read this instruction before installing the sub-base to
the molded or metal sleeve.
CAUTION The sub-base should be assembled to the sleeve before securing the sleeve in the wall.
CAUTION Electrical power must be disconnected before installing the sub-base.
Electrical Requirements :
1. Electrical wiring may enter the sub-base through any of the knockout holes provided in the sub-base bottom or rear.
2. Refer to the unit nameplate for branch circuit requirements.
3. All wiring should be done in accordance with the local electrical codes and regulations.
4. Not approved for aluminum wire application. 5. If electrical wiring is placed in or against the sub-
base enclosure, the sub-base must be grounded. Grounding holes have been provided in the back surface of the enclosure. See diagram. Green grounding screws and securing nuts are included.

Installation Instructions

INSTALLATION FOR 230/208V MODELS
Follow the installation instruction with the Power Supply Kit if RAK4002D Junction Box Kit to install junction box and connect to the unit wiring.
CONDUIT INSTALLATION FOR 265V UNITS (ALL MODELS)
1. Use the round hole at the bottom of the junction box to attach conduit coming from the branch circuit. Attach the conduit using proper conduit connector and bring wires into the junction box. Leave 6″ of wire free at the end of the conduit to allow connections to be made.

4. Remove the rectangular knockout at the bottom of the junction box. Remove the rectangular knockout at the right end of the sub-base.

2. If a fuse and fuse holder are to be used, the knockout at the side of the box is for mounting a Buss Fuse holder. Be sure the fuse and fuse holder are of the same rating as the branch circuit. Leadwires at the fuse can be either soldered in place or attached using UL-listed 1/4″ female (receptacle) crimp connectors.

2. Align the screw holes and secure the halves together using two type A screws.
3. Remove the junction box cover by removing the 2 screws on the front and the 2 screws on the inside rear of the junction box. Retain for re-assembly. Slide the junction box to the right to clear the mounting slots on the front of the steel box.

5. Slide the upper end of the chaseway with wiring protruding into rectangluar knockout opening in the junction box. Be sure chaseway “ears” are on the inside of the box. Drive one type A screw through the junction box bottom into the chaseway “ear” hole. Insert lower end of chaseway into rectangular hole in sub-base and slide to right into the rectangular knockout making sure chaseway “side ears” are inside the sub-base. Replace junction box on chassis in reverse order of Step 3. Route wire toward the center of the sub-base. Drive one type A screw through the sub-base slotted hole into chaseway “ear” hole.
6. Recheck to be sure the chaseway “ears” are inside the junction box and the sub-base and that no wiring is pinched.
7. Complete the connection of wiring inside the sub-base either by fully inserting the plug into the receptacle or attaching to the branch circuit wiring or RWKHU¿HOGLQVWDOOHGGHYLFHV&RLOXSDQH[FHVVZLULQJ inside the sub-base.
8. Complete connections inside the junction box. For additional information, refer to the installation Instructions in the Zoneline Owner’s Manual.
9. Replace and secure front covers on the sub-base and junction box. Do not pinch any wires.

CHASEWAY INSTALLATION FOR 265V MODELS WITH MOLDED SMC PLASTIC CONTROL BOX COVER
The chaseway can be used several ways in conjunction with the associated knockouts in the junction box and sub-base to protect and conceal wiring (cordsets/power supply kits and branch circuit wiring). 1. Wiring is placed between the two halves of the
chaseway. Observe the orientation of the chaseway.

6. Slide the upper end of the chaseway with wiring protruding into rectangular knockout opening in the junction box. Be sure chaseway “ears” are on the inside of the box. Drive one Type A screw through the junction box bottom into the chaseway “ear” hole. Drive one Type A screw into the upper hole in the chaseway. Insert the lower end of the chaseway into the rectangular hole in the sub-base and slide to the right into the rectangular knockout making sure chaseway “side ears” are inside the sib-base. Replace junction box on chassis in reverse order of Step 4. Drive one Type A screw through the subbase slotted hole into chaseway “ear” hole.

2. Align the lower screw holes and secure the halves together using one type A screw. The upper screw will be installed in Step 6.
3. Remove the junction box cover by removing the screw on the front. Rotate the cover to the right to unlock the locating tabs on the rear.
4. Remove the junction box from the molded SMC control box cover by removing the double helix screw from the top. Save for re-assembly. Carefully lift the junction box upward to clear the locating slots on the molded control box cover.
DO NOT REMOVE THE GROUND WIRE FROM THE CHASSIS OR JUNCTION BOX.
5. Remove the rectangular knockout at the bottom of the junction box. Remove the rectangular knockout at the right end of the sub-base.

7. Recheck to be sure the chaseway “ears” are inside the junction box and the sub-base and that no wiring is pinched.
8. Complete the connection of wiring inside the subbase either by fully inserting the plug into the receptacle or attaching to the branch circuit wiring

9. Complete connections inside the junction box. For additional information, refer to the Installation Instructions in the Zoneline Owner’s Manual.

· EXIGENCES ÉLECTRIQUES :
1. Le câblage électrique doit pénétrer dans le socle à travers une des débouchures présentes dans le bas ou l’arrière du socle.
2. Reportez-vous à la plaque signalétique de l’appareil pour les exigences relatives au circuit de dérivation.
3. Tout le câblage électrique doit être réalisé conformément aux codes et règlements locaux.
4. Le câblage en aluminium n’est pas approuvé.
5. Si le câblage est placé dans ou contre l’enveloppe du socle, le socle doit être mis à la terre. Les trous de mise à la terre sont situés sur la face arrière de l’enveloppe.

INSTALLATION des modèles 230/208 V :
Suivez les instructions d’installation de la trousse d’alimentation électrique ou de la boîte de jonction RAK4002D pour installer la boîte de jonction et connecter le câblage de l’appareil.
INSTALLATION DU CONDUIT POUR APPAREILS 265 V (TOUS LES MODÈLES)
1. Utilisez le trou rond dans le bas de la boîte de jonction pour ¿[HUOHFRQGXLWSURYHQDQWGXFLUFXLWGHGpULYDWLRQ)L[H] le conduit à l’aide du connecteur de conduit approprié et acheminer les câbles dans la boîte de jonction. Laissez un segment de 6 po libre à l’extrémité du conduit pour les connexions.

4. Enlevez la débouchure rectangulaire dans le bas de la boîte de jonction. Enlevez la débouchure rectangulaire à l’extrémité droite du socle.

3. Enlevez le couvercle de la boîte de jonction en retirant les 2 vis sur le devant et les 2 vis sur l’arrière intérieur de la boîte de jonction. Conservez pour réassemblage. Glissez la boîte de jonction vers la droite pour dégager les fentes de montage sur le devant de la boîte de commande en acier.

Acheminez le câble vers le centre du socle. Replacez la boîte de jonction sur le châssis dans l’ordre inverse de l’étape 4. Posez une vis de type A à travers le trou oblong du socle et dans le trou « d’oreille » du chemin de câble.

3. Enlevez le couvercle de la boîte de jonction en retirant la vis sur le devant. Faites pivoter le couvercle vers la droite pour déverrouiller les languettes de repérage à l’arrière.
4. Retirez la boîte de jonction du couvercle de la boîte de commande SMC moulée en retirant la vis à double hélice du dessus. Conservez pour réassemblage. Soulevez avec soin ODERvWHGHMRQFWLRQD¿QGHGpJDJHUOHVIHQWHVGHUHSpUDJH sur le couvercle de la boîte de commande moulée. N’ENLEVEZ PAS LE FIL DE TERRE DU CHÂSSIS OU DE LA BOÎTE DE JONCTION.
