Product Usage Instructions
Setting Up
Before you begin:
- Unpack the carton: Carefully unpack the speakers and save all packing materials for possible future use. Check that your system contains all the parts identified in Figure 1. Do not use the speakers if any part appears damaged. Contact Bose Corporation or your authorized Bose dealer for assistance.
- Tools required: You will need a 2.5mm (1/8 inch) diameter bit or a 3.0mm (1/8 inch) diameter bit for concrete to complete the installation process. If unsure, consult a professional installer.
Selecting the location for your speakers:
For optimal results, mount both speakers on the same wall, facing the listening area. Ensure they do not face each other. If installing outdoors without an existing wall, consider the length of your listening area as the wall. The speakers should be placed at least 7 feet (2 meters) apart.
Before mounting the speakers, consider the following:
- Do not mount on surfaces that are not sturdy enough or have concealed hazards such as plumbing or electrical wires. If unsure, contact a qualified professional installer.
- This product is not intended for use in areas subject to high vibration. If unsure, contact a qualified professional installer.
Installing Your 251TM Speakers
Choosing the speaker wire:
Before making any connections, turn off your receiver or amplifier and unplug it from the outlet.
Installing the mounting brackets:
The 251TM speakers should be mounted using the supplied brackets. They can be mounted onto the exterior of a house, deck railing, or table. If you choose not to use the supplied brackets, ensure you position the speakers on a sturdy surface. If not using the brackets, attach the supplied rubber feet before using the speakers on a surface. Refer to “Attaching the rubber feet” on page 11 for instructions.
Installing the brackets onto the exterior of a house:
The speakers should be mounted in a vertical position for optimal performance. Follow these steps:
- Mark four holes to indicate where you want to install the speaker bracket.
- For wood, drill four starter holes using a 2.5mm (1/8 inch drill bit.
- For concrete, use a 3.0mm (1/8 inch) diameter masonry bit to drill four starter holes.
Once the installation is complete, the mounted speaker should resemble Figure 3 in the user manual.
