The product is a pump designed for use in ponds. It comes in
three models: 472, 473, and 474. Each model has a different
voltage, power, flow rate, and lift capacity. The pump is suitable
for various applications such as creating waterfalls, operating
pond filters, and powering fountains.
Product Usage Instructions
Pump Installation
Ideally, the pump should be positioned within reach of the side
of the pond on a solid platform (e.g. paving slabs). Ensure that
the pump is at least 200mm (8″) below water level to prevent
freezing and maintain sufficient water levels in summer. It is
recommended to have all electrical work completed by a qualified
electrician. Only use the pump if it is completely immersed in
water.Waterfall/Filter Only
For use with a pond filter, it is often beneficial to place the
pump at the opposite end of the pond to the filter return. The pump
is equipped with pond-life friendly slots to protect spawning life.
In some ponds, modification of the pump may be desired to enable
solid handling. The pump can be connected to a waterfall or filter
using 19mm (3/4″), 25mm (1″), or 32mm (11/4″) bore hose. For
maximum flow, use 32mm (11/4″) hose connected directly to the hose
adaptor on the rotor cover.Fountain (and Waterfall/Filter)
Insert fountain components as instructed in the Fountain
Kit.
Maintenance / Troubleshooting
Regular maintenance is important to ensure optimal performance
of the pump. Follow these steps if you encounter any issues:When flow from your pump is noticeably reduced or fountain
display has deteriorated:- Remove the strainer cover by squeezing its sides and pulling it
off. - Clean the cover and remove any weed or blockage around the pump
inlet rotor inlet. - If you are using a fountain, remove and clean the fountain head
in water with a brush. - Reassemble the components. If the flow is still poor, check if
the outlet pipe has become kinked or blocked.
- Remove the strainer cover by squeezing its sides and pulling it
If flow is stopped:
- Disconnect the power.
- Remove the cover and check for free rotation or breakage of the
rotor. - If the rotor will not turn or is broken, remove and clean it.
Replace if broken or worn. - Reassemble the pump in reverse order after carefully cleaning
all components. - Replace the pump in water before reconnecting power to start
the pump. If the pump does not start or stops again, please contact
Closer Pets Customer Service.
