166204 Cable Wiring with Null Modem Adapter

Product Information:

The null modem adapter is a troubleshooting tool used to address
issues with serial cable wiring. It is designed to switch the
transmit and receive pins of the serial cable connection if they
are incorrectly wired. The null modem adapter can be used without
opening the enclosure of the indicator, providing a temporary fix
for wiring problems.

  • Null Modem Adapter (130798)
  • Communication Kit (166204), which includes PN 130798

Product Usage Instructions:

  1. Acquire the appropriate null modem adapter for your serial
    cable connection.

  2. Attach the null modem adapter to the connector of the serial
    cable.

  3. If necessary, use a gender changer to connect the adapter to
    the cable.

  4. Test for connectivity. If the connectivity test fails, it is
    recommended to consult a technician for repair.

Note: The null modem adapter should be used as a temporary
solution until the wiring can be corrected by a trained
technician.

A null modem adapter can be used to troubleshoot wiring without opening the enclosure of the indicator. This is a temporary fix to switch the transmit and receive pins of the serial cable connection if it is incorrectly wired. See the indicator technical manual for connector locations and pin assignments. Available Null Modem Parts

NOTE: The Communication Kit includes PN 130798.
Use the following procedure to test the wiring of a serial cable with a null modem adapter:
1. Acquire the correct type of null modem adapter for the serial cable connection.

2. Attach a null modem adapter to the serial cable connector.
