PKMAF MAJESTIC Fountain and Roller Ball Pen Kits
Product Information
The PKMAJ & PKMAF are fountain and roller ball pen kits
manufactured by PSI Woodworking Products. These kits are part of
the ‘MAJESTIC’ collection and come in different variations:
- #PKMAFTP – Fountain, Chrome & Gun Metal
- #PKMAFGP – Fountain, Chrome & Gold
- #PKMAJTP – Roller, Chrome & Gun Metal
- #PKMAJGP – Roller, Chrome & Gold
Required accessories for these pen kits include cyano-acrylate
glue.
The kit includes various parts listed in Diagram A:
- End cap / cap assembly
- Upper tube (shorter)
- Center band assembly
- Fountain nib coupler
- Ink cartridge
- Lower tube (longer)
- Roller tip
- Roller refill
- Spring
- Lower cap assembly
Product Usage Instructions
Preparing the Blanks:
1. Check the center band assembly for the correct coupler sleeve
diameter (large diameter for the short tube, smaller diameter for
the longer tube).
2. Slide the coupler sleeve over the shank of the center band
assembly.
3. Trim the blank down flush with the brass tube.
Turning the Blanks:
1. Insert the bushing with the narrow end first.
2. Mount spacer bushings to fill the space to the threads on the
mandrel.
3. Screw on the lock-nut hand tight.
4. Bring the tailstock in snug to the mandrel and lock it in
place. Do not over-tighten the lock nut to avoid damaging the
mandrel.
5. Turn the blanks using your preferred turning techniques.
6. Finish with your choice of polish.
Refer to Diagram B for a visual representation of the turning
process.
Assembly:
1. Check the center band assembly for the correct coupler.
2. Use PSI #PENPRESS2 for assembly.
3. Follow Diagram C for the correct order of assembly:
- Attach the end cap / cap assembly.
- Insert the upper tube (shorter).
- Attach the center band assembly.
- Attach the fountain nib or roller tip coupler.
- Insert the ink cartridge.
- Insert the lower tube (longer).
- Attach the roller refill or fountain nib.
- Attach the lower cap assembly.
Ensure all components are securely attached and aligned. Your
pen is now ready for use!

PREPARING THE BLANKS:
*NOTE: Check center band assembly for coupler
· Prepare a master blank ofat least 7/S”square.Cut two sections to the length ofeach tube. (Add 1/1611for trimming) Mark the center ofeach blank.
· UpperBlank – (shorter tube) – drill a 37/6411hole through the blank · Lower Blank – (longer tube) – drill a 15/3211hole through. · Glue each tube in the proper blank.Spread the glue over each tube.Insert the tube into the blank with a twisting motion
to spreadthe glueevenlyinside.Note:you may sand the tubes using220-gritabrasive forbetteradhesion.Center each tube lengthwise inside the blank. · When glue dries;square the ends ofeach blank.Using a 10mm barrel trimmer with adapter sleeves,mount the proper
sleeve (large diameter for the short tube,smaller diameter for the longer tube) over the shank.Trim the blank down flush with the brass tube.
TURNING THE BLANKS:
· Mount spacer bushings on the mandrel.Slide the cap bushing (wider diameter) wide end in first.Slide the upper blank (shorter) on next.Follow with the center bushing,wider diameter on first.Slide on the lower blank and follow with the tip
bushing,narrow end in first.Mount spacer bushings to fill the space to the threads on the mandrel.Screw on the lock-nut
hand tight.Bring the tailstock in snug to the mandrel.Lock in place.Do not over-tighten the lock nut;it may damage the mandrel.
· Turn the blanks down close to the bushings.Follow with abrasives until the tube diameters are flush with the bushings.
Finish with your choice of polish.

· Press the end cap/clip assembly into the opposite end of the tube.
· Slide the coupler ring,smallerdiameter infirstover the coupler.Press the assembly in to the lower tube.
· Press the lower cap assembly (wrrh spring inserted) into the opposite end of the tube.

FOUNTAIN PEN TIP
· Inserttherollerrefill,flatend in,into the opening at the coupler over the spring. · Thread theroller tip over therefillinto the threaded
coupler.
· Affix the ink reservoir,narrow end in firstinto the back of the pen nib.Push into break the seal (or use PSI refillable reservoirs #PKPUMP5),then press lightly the to advance the ink forward.
· Thread the fountain nib assembly over the threaded
coupler.
TIPS
· When engaging theends to close the pen,notice the threads havethreestarting points so you can quickly close the pen in either of three positions.
· You mayalso want to considermatchingthewoodgrain when assembling the pen.
