Pentatone Preamp Pedal

Product Information

The product is a multi-functional device that features a 5-band
EQ, distortion, noise gate, and boost controls. It comes with a top
panel that contains the controls and LEDs for the different
functions, as well as a rear panel and battery compartment. The
device is powered by an AC adapter or a battery and should be used
with caution to avoid injury or property damage.

Product Usage Instructions

Before using the device, read the owner’s manual thoroughly for
safe use. Keep the manual in a safe place and read it whenever
necessary.

Safety Precautions

Observe the safety precautions to avoid injury or property
damage:

Warning: Never disassemble or modify the
device.
Warning: In case of an abnormality such as
smoke, burning smell, or abnormal sound, immediately stop using the
device. Unplug the AC adapter from the outlet. Do not operate with
wet hands.
Cautions: Be sure to use the specified AC
adapter. Do not store or use the device in places such as a bath or
outdoors where water splashes. Also, do not use it in places of
high humidity, places with a lot of dust, or at high temperatures.
Do not store in places of excessive vibrations.
Cautions: When not in use for a long time, be
sure to unplug the AC adapter from the outlet for safety. Do not
apply excess force, drop nor give strong physical impact. Do not
use thinner, alcohol, and the like for cleaning.
Warning: Do not throw a battery into a
fire.
Cautions: Mount a battery with its polarities
+/- set correctly. Remove the battery when not in use for a long
time.

Changing the Battery

Unplug the instrument when not in use to prolong the battery
life. When the battery power is running low, LEDs on the top panel
get dim or do not light. Replace the battery.

Operation

The device features different controls and functions on the top
panel:

PRE BOOST: Turns the PRE BOOST function
on/off. The red LED lights when the PRE BOOST is turned on.
Controls the boost level. When turning this knob all the way to the
left, no sound outputs.
DISTORTION: Boosts the high frequencies,
controls the overall output volume, high frequency level, bass
frequency level, and amount of distortion.
5-BAND EQ: Turns the 5-band EQ function
on/off. Controls the levels of different frequency bands.
NOISE GATE: Turns the NOISE GATE function
on/off. The red LED lights when the NOISE GATE is turned on.

OPERATION
PRE BOOST
1 On/off switch Turns the PRE BOOST function on/off
2 Indicator Red LED lights when the PRE BOOST is turned on
3 PRE BOOST Controls the boost level When turning this knob all the way to the left, no sound outputs
DISTORTION
4 BRIGHT Boosts the high frequencies
5 LEVEL Controls the overall output volume
6 TREBLE Controls the high frequency level
7 BASS Controls the bass frequency level
8 GAIN Controls the amount of distortion

5-BAND EQ 9 On/off switch
Turns the 5-BAND EQ function on/off When the 5-BAND EQ is turned on, blue LEDs on the slider light up 10 Frequency Selects the center frequency of each band to be boosted or cut Regarding the frequency range of each band, refer to the specification table 11 Slider Controls the amount of boost or cut that applied to each frequency band Each slider provides boost or cut up to ±10dB POST BOOST 12 On/off switch Turns the POST BOOST function on/off 13 Indicator Red LED lights when the POST BOOST is turned on 14 POST BOOST Controls the boost level, which is adjustable between 0-11dB

NOISE GATE 15 On/off switch

Controls the threshold level that engages the mute circuitry This sets the limit for when the gate will take effect and start to decrease or mute the signal Turning the knob clockwise, increases the threshold which means the signal will be muted faster BYPASS 19 On/off switch True bypass switch turns the PENTATONE PREAMP on/off 20 Indicator Red LED lights when the PENTATONE PREAMP is turned on

21 INPUT Connects an instrument, such as a guitar or the output of another effect device, via a shielded cable Plugging into this jack automatically puts power to the unit
22 EXT DC input Be sure to use a center negative external DC 9V power supply (AC/DC adapter etc) When using this jack, the internal battery is switched off
23 REMOTE Connect the Ibanez IFS2L footswitch (sold separately) You can turn the PRE BOOST and the 5-BAND EQ on/off remotely When the footswitch is connected, the toggle switches on the pedal for the PRE BOOST and the 5-BAND EQ ON/OFF are disabled
24 OUTPUT Connects an amp or another effect pedal, via a shielded cable
