Utilize the BLACK+DECKER EasyCut Extra-Tall Can Opener to make routine kitchen tasks easier. POLARIZED PLUG (120V models only)

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW

Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel.

ELECTRICAL CORD

A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
If an extension cord is used:
The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance; and
The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

GETTING STARTED

Remove all packing material, any stickers, and the plastic band around the power plug.
Remove and save literature.

HOW TO USE CAN OPENER

Slip the post on the cutting assembly into the hole on the upper left corner of the front of the base.

Plug power cord into outlet.

Lift lever up. Tip the can so that the rim is under the locating post. Make sure that the cutter is inside the rim of the can.

Push down on the lever.

Remove the can by holding it with one hand and lifting the lever with the other.

NOTES

This can opener will not open rimless cans or cans with angled corners and should not be used to open cans with a peel-off foil or rolling key.
Frozen juices or foods in cardboard cans should be opened as soon as they are removed from the freezer. Aluminum lids will not stick to the magnet.
It is not necessary to hold the lever down or support the can during cutting. However, you may have to hold the base when cutting very tall or very heavy cans.

CAUTION

Avoid contact with the cut edges of the can or lids; they are sharp. Carefully remove the lid from the magnet and discard.

HOW TO USE MULTI-TOOL AND KNIFE SHARPENER

Use the pop-top can opener to lift ring away from lid.

Then pull the ring with your fingers to remove lid.

Glass bottle opener: Use on metal bottle caps only.

Knife sharpener: Steady the can opener. Holding with blade horizontal, draw the knife edge through the sharpener from handle to tip. (Non-serrated knives only.)

CARE AND CLEANING

Unplug can opener. Remove cutting assembly by lifting up and pulling out.

Wash cutting assembly and multi-tool in warm, soapy water. Caution: cutter is sharp.

Wipe the can opener’s exterior with a damp cloth or sponge. Do not use abrasives.

Dry parts and put them back on the can opener.

Can you cut with the can under the blade and then leave?

Yes, once the can is safely positioned between the blade and the lid holder. The can will be cut and turned automatically. When finished, it will stop and hold the can and lid in separate positions until you lift the top. Until you remove it, the lid will stay affixed to the top.

How do I get rid of the tiny ceramic piece by the knife sharpener?

You are probably referring to the knife sharpener, also known as a whetstone, which is made of ceramic. The whetstone is held in a slanted position suitable for use with either the left or right hand. Put the end of the knife that is closest to the handle into the slot to sharpen it. In one continuous motion, pull the knife through the slot at a slight upward angle (roughly a 20-degree angle). Continue until the desired sharpness is achieved. After sharpening, wash and dry your knives.

What voltage is it?

A Specifications box under the Key Features section states that the Black+Decker can opener needs a 120 Volts – 60 Hz electric power service, similar to what is used in North America.

Which warranty is offered?

This can opener comes with a two-year warranty from the time of purchase. Any kind of sales or gift receipt should be kept as proof of purchase, so do so.

Can a10 can be opened with this can opener?

Yes, as long as you keep it upright.

Can’t seem to find the separate multi-tool

Although it is separate, the bottle opener slots into a holder on the back of the can opener. There is an integrated knife sharpener.

Cans with pull tops can be opened by this.

The multi-tool in the housing’s back can be used to open pull-top cans and glass bottles.

Does the blade unit fit in a dishwasher?

The blade unit can be removed with ease, washed in hot water, and then replaced on the can opener.

Is the dishwasher safe for the removable part?

I put the dishwasher’s upper rack in which the removable component belonged. I take it out after the wash cycles but before the drying element turns on, just to be safe.

How do I retract the cord?

The can opener’s back opening can be used to insert the cord. On this particular model, there is no button to retract the cord.
