69-TN12 4 ft. x 50 ft. Tatami Bamboo Wall Paneling Natural

Product Information

The Bamboo Paneling is a versatile and eco-friendly product that
allows you to create a tropical atmosphere in your surroundings.
Made from authentic bamboo tambour, this paneling is fabric-backed
and sold by panel rather than yard. It is available in multiple
colors and can be used for various applications such as walls,
ceilings, furniture, and cabinetry.

The construction of the Bamboo Paneling involves laminating
bamboo strips to a fabric back, which enables the paneling to
conform to concave, convex, circular, or flat surfaces. Each panel
measures 4 feet in height and 50 feet in length, with the bamboo
strips running the height of the sheet. The panel can be installed
vertically or horizontally.

Prior to installation, it is important to prepare the surface by
cleaning it thoroughly to remove any foreign materials that could
hinder the paneling. Surfaces with peeling paint or plaster board,
uneven surfaces, or unsound surfaces should be repaired before
installation. It is not recommended to apply the paneling on
surfaces that experience excessive moisture.

The Bamboo Paneling can be easily cut using different methods.
For vertical cuts, a box knife can be used to cut through the
fabric backing between the strips. For horizontal cuts, tightly
roll the tambour and cut with a chop saw equipped with a sharp
cabinetry blade. Using a dull or construction grade blade or a
handsaw may result in rough edges.

Bamboo Paneling Hanging Instructions
BAMBOO PANELING allows you to surround yourself in a tropical landscape that is truly innovative in design as well as being eco-friendly. Made from authentic bamboo tambour. The collection is fabric backed and sold by panel rather than yard. Available in multiple colors. Applications range from walls and ceilings to furniture and cabinetry.
CONSTRUCTION OF BAMBOO PANELING: Our Bamboo paneling is constructed of bamboo strips that are laminated to a fabric back that allow the paneling to conform to concave, convex, circular or flat surfaces. The dimension of a panel is 4 feet high by 50 feet long. The panel is constructed so the strips run the height of the sheet. These instructions assume that the panel is being installed vertically, but it can also be installed horizontally.
SURFACE PREPARATION: Prior to installation of the tambour paneling, the application surface must be cleaned to remove all foreign material that could cause surface obstructions. Surfaces with peeling paint or plaster board, surfaces that are uneven or unsound must be repaired. Application to surfaces that experience excessive moisture is not recommended.
CUTTING & HANDLING OF BAMBOO: Bamboo paneling can be cut easily. For vertical cuts, use a box knife and cut through the fabric backing between the strips. For horizontal cuts, roll the tambour tightly and cut with a chop saw. A tight roll with a sharp cabinet grade blade will render a clean sharp cut. A dull or construction grade blade or a handsaw may tend to tear at the bamboo making for a rough edge.
Installation Method 1:
Material Installation Nail Method: Once the application surface has been prepared, pre-drill finishing nail sized holes through the face of the bamboo panel. It is recommended that holes are drilled 1″ from the top and bottom of the tambour edge every 10″. Be sure to drill slowly through the center of the tambour strip to avoid cracking or splitting. Additional pre-drilled holes are recommended as needed for on site bamboo conditions. Apply nails to the Studs in the wall where possible. Bamboo should be held firmly in place while finishing nails are applied through pre-drilled holes.
Installation Method 2:
Material Installation Glue Method: Once the application surface has been prepared, pre-drill 1″ in on the top edge of the paneling on the left and right side and one in the center. Apply Liquid Nail construction adhesive type LN-903 to the cloth back of the bamboo paneling. This should be done in a bead ¼” in diameter, running all four sides 3/4″ in from the edge, then in rows 8″ apart vertically on the back of the paneling. This should allow for 12 rows of adhesive to be applied. Let adhesive set for 10 to 15 minutes, then press firmly with even pressure to the entire surface. Using 1″ panel nails, set the three nails in place. Check periodically to be sure paneling stays in full contact with wall surface while drying. Adhesive should hold paneling immediately, but will fully cure in 24 hours. If you are not getting good adhesion, check your surface preparation again for materials that might be creating a poor bond. Note: spread rate on liquid nails is approximately 1 tube per 4 x 8 panel.

Installation Method 3:
Installing Bamboo Paneling to a Ceiling Bamboo paneling can be applied to a ceiling. The recommended installation method is to secure the bamboo paneling to a piece of plywood using Material Installation Glue Method. Ensure the bamboo paneling is firmly secured to the plywood. Finally, bolt the plywood to the ceiling in order to secure the paneling. A combination of nail and glue techniques may be used as appropriate for on-site conditions. For example; wrapping bamboo around sharp corners may require additional pre-drilled holes and/or application of glue.
Baseboards and other trim:
Simply remove the required number of trim strips by pulling the bamboo away from the fabric backing. These can then be fastened in place with adhesive or pre-drilled and set in place with finish nails.
Materials and equipment:
Box knife, carpenters chop saw with quality cabinetry blade, (60 teeth and up) tape measure, electric drill, drill bit, hammer, finish nails, clean up rags (construction adhesive-optional).
