INSERTING BATTERY
The Cosina Automate Electric Eye exposure system operates energy supplied by 3 mercury batteries. Be sure the battery is in- stalled before operating the camera. Slide BATTERY COMPARTMENT cover. in the direction of the arrow and lift up a small hinged cover. Wipe the fresh battery, supplied with the camera, with e clean dry cloth and place it in the com- apartment with POSITIVE SIDE (-} up. Close and press BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER until it snaps shut. Replace the battery once @ your or when needle mater action appears sluggish. IMPORTANT: The replacement battery should be a mercury-type rated 1.3 vault Specify Ever Ready EPX-675 or Mallory PX-675.
OPEN BACK COVER
To open the BACK COVER lift up the FILM REWIND KNOR AND CRANK and pull upward until the cover snaps open.
FILM LOADING
Place the 2mm. film cartridge (20 of 26 ox- posures} into the left feed chamber, Push in FILM REWIND KNOB and lower the REWIND CRANK.
Pull out sufficient: film and insert the end into any slot of the FILM TAKE-UP SPINDLE Spacial slot Gesiyge minimizes the possibility of the fun ship-out
Press SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON and advance firm with the FILM TRANSPORT LEVER. Repeat until the sprocket tooth engage the filing perorations on both top and bottom.
ADVANCING FILM
Close BACK COVER and press shut. Turn the FILM REWIND KNOB clockwise until the film stack is taken up.
Press the SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON end ab- Vance film forward with the FILM TRANSPORT LEVER. The FILM REWIND KNOB will revolve counter clock-wise with each film advance if properly loaded.
Repeat the operation until No.1 +3 is visible in the EXPOSURE COUNTER WINDOW, Camera is now ready to expose the first picture.
AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC EYE EXPOSURE
Move the ASA FILM SETTING LEVER until it is opposite the ASA speed rating of your film. Check data supplied with film for ASA ratings and set accordingly.
Examples: Kodacolor ASA 50, Kodachrome-X and Extachroma-X ASA 64, High-Speed Ekta- chroma-I60, etc. Scale on camera provides for: % .6>. ‘0 . . 200. 4% 32 41251600320
Hold the LOCK BUTTON for the FUNCTION CONTROL RING and state until it snaps into the AUTO index position Exnosuras pre is now automatically programmed to AUTO- MATIC shutter speed and lens iris settings best suited for every picture tabbing situation

VIEWFINDER INFORMATION

PARALLAX MARKS. When taking pictures closer than four feet from the camera, subject shock! not extend above the PARALLAX MARK.
ULTRA-BRIGHT CONDITIONS. the meter neesdia enters the UPPER RED WARNING ZONE the conditions are too bright and will require a NEUTRAL DENSITY FILTER over the lens. This condition will be encountered only when using high-speed black-and-white film.
NORMAL CAMERA OPERATION. The correct ex-posture range is bounded by the top and bottom REO WARNING ZONES. Numerous to the left indicate the shutter speeds and numerals in the night border are the (/stops or lens aperture settings.
INSUFFICIENT LIGHT. When the meter needle sinks to the LOWER RED WARNING ZONE correct exposures are no longer possible with existing light. Move the subject to a brighter area or switch to FLASH.

FILTERS

SELF-TIMER
The SELF-TIMER feature allows the camera used to be included in his own pictures To operate simply set the camera on fam support. advance film and turn the SELF-TIMER DOWN, Shutter will click about 8 seconds after the SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON is pressed and can be used with or without flash
BULB EXPOSURE
Hold the LOCK BUTTON and turn FUNCTION CON- TROL RING unit 8 (BULB) lines up with the index match, Lens will stay open at full aperture {f 2.7) a tong as HUTTER RELEASE BUTTON is held DOWN. Exposures must be made with the camera on a fem aupport when long estimated exposures are made in poorly lighted areas.
REWINDING FILM
When all exposures have been taken, the film must be wound into the cartridge before the camera cover can be opened. Failure to do so may result in fogging of the film. Before winding the film, depress the REWIND RELEASE BUTTON on the bottom of the camera. Once it is depressed the button will remain down.
Flip up the CRANK in the FILM REWIND KNOB and turn it clockwise until a loosening of tension is fait as the film leaves the TAKE-UP S>IN-DLE. Several additional turns ill provide assurance that the film is completely contained in the cartridge. Open the BACK COVER by lifting the FILM REWIND KNOB. Remove FILM CARTRIDGE and have it processed as soon as possible for optimum picture results.
FLASH-FINDER SYSTEM
Accurately computed trash pictures are possible with the Cosina Compact by inter-locking the FOCUSING RING with the FUNCTION CONTROL RING. To accomplish this. depress and hold the LOCK BUTTON white rotating the FUNCTION CONTROL RING until the word FLASH lines up with the Guide Number index mark. Release the LOCK BUTTON when the correct 6Olting is made. Select suitable Guide Numbers from the bottom row
Flashgun most conveniently suited for this ultra-compact camera is the type that provides cordless direct electrical contact and accepts standard FLASHCUBES. It flashgun has a wired-in cord, flash contact may be made by plugging into the PC FLASH CORD SOCKET on the side of the camera. However, some cord units, designed to slip into an accessory CHP, may cause a short and should be on a side mount fisshaun bracket.
FLASH-FINDER pictures are easier than ever with the Cosine 35. The range finder adjustment is coupled ta the thesis. affords complete and accurate flush settings | when the camera is focused. When your camera is in the FLASH-FINDER mode of operation, the shutter peed is 1 automatically set at 1/26th second. The Cosina 35 has X synchronization for Flashcubes. AG-1 bulbs or strobe. if the exact Guide Number is not in the FLASH- INDER sale, use the neat lower number. of dot. Consult data supplied with the very toll of film for correct ASA speed rating and Guide Number for the type of flash being used.
AUTOMATIC EXPOSURE COMPENSATION
The Cosina 35 1s is equipped with an automatic compensation control when exposure conditions are not always conducive to good picture results with many other electric eye cameras. For example, It is possible to shoot in the direction of the sun by following a simple Procedure. Compose the subject in the VIEWFINDER and then aim the camera downward to avoid the strong backlight. Depress the SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON partially to hold the meter needle carding. Lift the camera up to the original position and continue to ‘press the SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON the rest of the way to show the compensated exposure Automatic exposure compensation can also be made by taking a very close reading of the subject with the SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON on a partially depressed hold
Step hack and complete stroke to trip the shutter. This latter technique can be applied when aubject is in front of a very light or very dark background that may erroneously influence the exposure,
