SAFESOCK-1 Protective Sock
Product Information:
The SAFESOCK is a fiber optic cable accessory designed to
provide protection to the cable fan-out during installation. It
consists of a shrink tube and a Techflex wrap that are used to
affix the cable jacket and the sock together at the cable fan-out.
The SAFESOCK is not meant to be used for pulling or installing
fiber optic cables.
Product Usage Instructions:
- Carefully slide the shrink tube over the cable jacket.
- Carefully slide the Techflex wrap over the fan-out and under
the shrink tube. Be gentle and ensure that the fiber cables are not
bent or compromised. - Use a heat gun to permanently affix the cable jacket and the
Techflex sock together at the cable fan-out. - DO NOT pull your cable using this component. Please use
extreme caution during the installation of SAFESOCK-1 as fibers are
extremely fragile. - Pulling or installing fiber optic cables into conduit, walls,
or plenum areas should only be done by a professional utilizing
approved pulling solutions and tools.
Field Install Procedure for SAFESOCK
1. Carefully slide the shrink tube over cable jacket.
2. Carefully slide the Techflex wrap over fan-out and under shrink tube – gently without bending / compromising the fiber cables.
3. Use heat gun to permanently affix cable jacket and the Techflex sock together at the cable fan-out
** DO NOT pull your cable using this component. Please use extreme caution during install of SAFESOCK-1 as fibers are extremely fragile **
Pulling / installing fiber optic cables into conduit / walls / plenum area should only be done by a professional utilizing approved pulling solutions and tools.
