Converting 120V Hot Tube to 240V

Product Information

The product being discussed is a hot tub manufactured by Gecko
Equipment. This user manual provides instructions for converting a
120V hot tub to 240V. It is important to note that this guide is
intended for certified electricians only. The manual emphasizes the
need for professional expertise and strongly advises against
attempting the conversion without proper certification.

    displayed on the keyboard.
  4. Press the light button one last time to confirm.

It is emphasized that users should also consult the user’s
manual that came with the hot tub for additional useful
information.

Important Electrical Information

When operating the hot tub on 240V, it is crucial to use a 40
amp GFCI breaker. For 120V use, a GFCI directly into the wire is
provided and must only be plugged into a dedicated 15 amp hot tub
outlet.

For the conversion to 220V, the user must connect the spa to a
220V 40A (minimum) GFCI breaker and the home electrical panel. The
appropriate wire size depends on the distance between the spa and
the wall outlet:

  • If the spa is more than 50′ from the wall outlet: use a
    grounded 6 AWG/3 wire.
  • If the spa is located within 50′ from the wall outlet: use a
    grounded 8 AWG/3 wire.

It is strongly recommended to hire a certified electrician to
install the GFCI breaker and connect the spa to the house
electrical panel. If the spa only operates on a 220V electrical
circuit, no conversion is needed for the spa pack. However, if the
spa is convertible from 110V to 220V, instructions for the
conversion can be found inside the spa pack cover.
