AHTR Series Room Air Conditioner

Product Information: Room Air Conditioner

The GE Room Air Conditioner is a cooling appliance designed to
provide cool air to a room. It comes in three models: AHTR10,
AHTR12, and AHTR14. The air conditioner has a GE module number and
password for wifi setup that can be found on page 15 of the user
manual. The rating label is located on the side of the air
conditioner. The appliance is manufactured under trademark license
and is a product of General Electric Company.

Product Usage Instructions

Before using the GE Room Air Conditioner, it is important to
read all instructions in the user manual to minimize the risk of
fire, electric shock, or personal injury.

Installation

The air conditioner must be properly installed in accordance
with the Installation Instructions in the user manual before it is
used. It is recommended to have a qualified technician perform the
installation.

Safety Precautions

• Turn off and unplug the air conditioner before cleaning.
• Do not store or use combustible materials, gasoline, or other
  flammable vapors or liquids near the air conditioner.
• Do not unplug the air conditioner by pulling on the power cord.
  Always grip plug firmly and pull straight out from the
  receptacle.
• If the receptacle does not match the plug, it must be changed
  out by a qualified electrician.
• Replace immediately all electric service cords that have become
  frayed or otherwise damaged. Do not use a cord that shows cracks or
  abrasion damage along its length or at either the plug or connector
  end.
• Do not service sealed system components (i.e. refrigerant
  containing parts) in the air conditioner. Service of all other
  components may ONLY be completed by a qualified technician.
• Do not use any cleaning products other than those recommended
  by the manufacturer.

Care and Cleaning

instructions on how to clean the air conditioner.

Wifi Setup

The GE Room Air Conditioner comes with a wifi setup. The module
number and password can be found on page 15 of the user manual.
Follow the instructions in the manual to set up wifi.

Troubleshooting

If the air conditioner is not functioning properly, refer to the
Troubleshooting Tips section in the user manual for possible
solutions.

HOW TO CONNECT ELECTRICITY
Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. For personal safety, this appliance must be properly grounded.
DO NOT use an adapter plug with this appliance.
The power cord of this appliance is equipped with a 3-prong (grounding) plug which mates with a standard 3-prong (grounding) wall outlet to minimize the possibility of electric shock hazard from this appliance.
Power cord includes a current interrupter device. A test and reset button is provided on the plug case. The device should be tested on a periodic basis by first pressing the TEST button and then the RESET button while plugged into the outlet. If the TEST button does not trip or if the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.

Have the wall outlet and circuit checked by a qualified electrician to make sure the outlet is properly grounded.
Where a 2-prong wall outlet is encountered, it is your personal responsibility and obligation to have it replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet.
The air conditioner should always be plugged into its own individual electrical outlet which has a voltage rating that matches the rating plate.
This provides the best performance and also prevents overloading house wiring circuits which could cause a fire hazard from overheated wires.

1. Power Pad

Turns air conditioner on and off. When turned on,

the display will show the Set temperature.

2. Display Shows the Set temperature or time remaining on the Delay timer. Shows the Set temperature while setting the temperature in Quiet, Cool or Eco modes.

3. Temp and Delay Increase + /Decrease – Pads 8VHWRVHWWHPSHUDWXUHRUGHODWLPH7HPSHUDWXUH can be set in Quiet, Cool and Eco mode.

In Quiet mode, the fan speed will automatically be set to Low (indicator is Auto).

6. Delay Pad
Delay ON–When the air conditioner is off, it can be set to automatically come on in 1 to 24 hours at its previous mode and fan settings.
Delay OFF–When the air conditioner is on, it can be set to automatically turn off in 1 to 24 hours.
How to set:
Press the Delay pad. Each touch of the Increase + / Decrease – pads will set the timer in 1-hour intervals.
To review the remaining time on the Delay timer, press the Delay SDG8VHWKH Increase + / Decrease – pads to set a new time if desired.
To cancel the timer, press Decrease – pad until

7. Filter Reset Pad
This feature automatically notifies you that the air filter must be cleaned. The indicator light will come on after 250 hours of operation. Clean the air filter (refer to page 7), place it back in the front panel, and press the Filter Reset pad. The light will go off.

Using the Air Conditioner

Do Not Operate in Freezing Outdoor Conditions

This cool-only air conditioner was not designed for freezing outdoor conditions.

It must not be used when the outdoor temperature is below freezing (32°F).

Control Panel Lights On/Off Feature
This air conditioner has a control panel lights on/off feature where its lights will turn off when there is no activity with the controls for over one minute. To wake up the controls, press any pad on the controls and the lights will come on to show the previous settings.

To turn this feature off, press and hold the Delay pad, on the unit, for 5 seconds. The unit will beep to signal the successful toggle of the feature on and off.

Control Panel Sound On/Off Feature
This air conditioner has a control panel sounds on/off feature where the sounds that occur when a button on the user interface is touched can be turned on or off. This feature is turned on by default, meaning that the air conditioner will make a sound when any button is

pressed on the user interface. To turn this feature off so as to make the button presses silent, press and hold the Filter button on the user interface for 5 seconds. The air conditioner will beep to signal the successful toggle of this feature on and off.

Remote Control
T o ensure proper operation, aim the remote control at the signal receiver on the air conditioner.
T he remote control signal has a range of up to 20 feet.

M ake sure nothing is between the air conditioner and the remote control that could block the signal.
M ake sure batteries are fresh and installed correctly as indicated on the remote control.

Cool Mode
8VHWKH&RROPRGHDWLow, Med, High or Auto fan VSHHGIRUFRROLQJ8VHWKHTemperature Increase + / Decrease – pads to set the desired temperature between 64°F and 86°F in 1°F increments.
An electronic thermostat is used to maintain the room temperature. The compressor will cycle on and off and also change operating speeds to keep the room at the set level of comfort. Set the thermostat at a lower number and the indoor air will become cooler. Set the thermostat at a higher number and the indoor air will become warmer.

NOTE: If the air conditioner is off and is then turned on while set to a Cool setting or if turned from a fan setting to a Cool setting, it may take approximately 3 minutes for the compressor to start and cooling to begin.
Cooling Descriptions
For Normal Cooling–Select the Cool mode and High or Med fan with a middle set temperature.
For Maximum Cooling–Select the Cool mode and High fan with a lower set temperature.
For Quieter and Nighttime Cooling–Select the Cool mode and Low fan with a middle set temperature.

Eco Mode
Controls the fan.
ON–The fan will cycle on and off with the compressor. This may result in wider variations of room temperature. NOTE: the fan may continue to run for a short time or may pulse intermittently after the compressor cycles off to sample the room air.

OFF–The fan runs all the time, while the compressor cycles on and off.

Fan Only Mode

temperature cannot be entered. The room temperature will appear in the display.

Auto Fan Mode
Set to Auto for the fan speed to automatically set to the speed needed to provide optimum comfort settings with the set temperature.

If the room needs more cooling, the fan speed will automatically increase. If the room needs less cooling, the fan speed will automatically decrease.

Quiet Mode
Quiet mode will ensure the most quiet mode of operation to satisfy the set temperature and provide room comfort in the space to be cooled. It is normal for the unit to operate for a longer period at lower energy consumption levels to achieve this. It is normal to hear

the unit switching speeds if it senses the room becoming uncomfortable.
Note: It is not suggested to use QUIET MODE when the temperature is above 104ºF(40ºC).

Care and Cleaning

Grille and Case
Turn the air conditioner off and remove the plug from the wall outlet before cleaning.

To clean, use water and a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or abrasives.

Air Filter
The air filter behind the front grille should be checked and cleaned at least every 30 days or more often if necessary.
To remove:
Open the inlet grille by pulling downward on the tabs at the top upper corners of the inlet grille until the grille is in a 45º position. Remove the filter.
Clean the filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and let the filter dry before replacing it. Do not clean the filter in a dishwasher.

CAUTION DO NOT operate the air conditioner
without a filter because dirt and lint will clog it and reduce performance.

Outdoor Coils
The coils on the outdoor side of the air conditioner should be checked regularly. If they are clogged with dirt or soot, they may be professionally cleaned.

How to Insert the Batteries in the Remote Control

1. Remove the battery cover by sliding it according to the arrow direction.
2. Insert new batteries, making sure that the (+) and (­) of battery are installed correctly.
3. Reattach the cover by sliding it back into position.

These models require a 115/120-volt AC, 60-Hz grounded outlet protected with a 15-amp time-delay fuse or circuit breaker.
The 3-prong grounding plug minimizes the possibility of electric shock hazard. If the wall outlet you plan to use is only a 2-prong outlet, it is your responsibility to have it replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet.
CAUTION
Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. Do not change the plug on the power cord of this air conditioner. Aluminum house wiring may present special problems–consult a qualified electrician.

1. WINDOW REQUIREMENTS
· These instructions are for a standard double-hung window. You will need to modify them for other types of windows.
· The air conditioner can be installed without the side curtain panels if needed to fit in a narrow window. See the window opening dimensions.
· All supporting parts must be secured to firm wood, masonry or metal.
· The electrical outlet must be within reach of the power cord.
· Follow the dimensions in the table and illustration for your model.

3. PREPARE THE AIR CONDITIONER
A. Install the top mounting rail with 3 Type A screws (AHTR10 / AHTR12 / AHTR14) from the outside of the case. Top Mounting rail

2. STORM WINDOW REQUIREMENTS

A storm window frame will not allow the air conditioner to tilt toward the outside, and will NHHSLWIURPGUDLQLQJSURSHUO7RDGMXVWIRUWKLV attach a piece of wood to the sill.

Cut and apply weather strip to front and bottom edge of window frame. Cut and apply weather strip to back edge of the window sill.

Cut and apply a weather strip to side of the curtain frame (one on each side).

4. INSTALL THE AIR CONDITIONER IN THE WINDOW
A. Mark the center of the window. Set the air conditioner in the window so that is it centered. Place the air conditioner so that front edge of the bottom mounting rail is against the back edge of the sill.
B. Bring the window down so that the front edge of the top mounting is in front of the window. Make sure that the air conditioner is level or tilting slightly to the outside.

5. SECURE AIR CONDITIONER
A. Loosen the screw on the right hand side of the air conditioner near the bottom.
B. Slide a side bracket over the screw so that the bracket is resting on the window sill. Tighten the screw.

C. Extend the curtain panels until they fill the window. Mark the location of the holes in each FRUQHU8VHWKHGULOODQG´GULOOELWWRGULOOSLORW KROHV8VHWSH%VFUHZVWRVHFXUHWKHVLGH panels in place.

D. Repeat the side bracket installation on the left side.
E. Measure and cut adhesive foam backed sheet. Apply over side curtain and frame.

6. INSTALL WINDOW LOCK BRACKET AND FOAM TOP WINDOW GASKET

A. CAUTION
To prevent broken glass or damage to windows, on vinyl or other similarly constructed windows, attach the window locking bracket to the window VLGHMDPEZLWKRQH7SH% screw.

B. Cut the foam top window gasket to the window width.
C. Stuff the foam between the glass and the window to prevent air and insects from getting into the room.

NOTE: If the gasket supplied does not fit your window, obtain appropriate material locally to provide a proper installation seal.

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

Troubleshooting Tips… Before you call for service

Save time and money! Review the charts on the following pages first and you may not need to call for service.

Problem
Air conditionerdoes not start.

Possible Cause
The unit is unplugged.
The fuse is blown/circuit breaker is tripped. Power Failure.

What To Do
Make sure the air conditioner plug is pushed completely into the outlet.
Check the house fuse/circuit breaker box and replace the fuse or reset the breaker.
The unit will automatically restart in the setting last used after the power is restored.

Air conditioner does not cool as it should.

The current interrupter device is tripped.
Indoor airflow is restricted. The temp control may not be set properly. The air filter is dirty. The room may have been hot. Cold air is escaping.

There is a protective time delay (approximately 3 minutes) to prevent tripping of the compressor overload. For this reason, the unit may not start normal cooling for 3 minutes after it is turned back on.
Press RESET button located on the power cord plug.
If the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.
Make sure there are not curtains, blinds or furniture blocking the front of the air conditioner.
Turn the temperature control to a higher number.
Clean the filter at least every 30 days. See Care and Cleaning section.
When the air conditioner is first turned on, you need to allow time for the room to cool down.
Check for open furnace registers and cold air returns.

Ice blocks the air flow and stops the air conditioner from cooling the room.

Set the mode control to High Fan or High Cool with the temperature setting as high as it can be set.
This is normal. For proper disposal, make sure the air conditioner slants slightly from the case front to the rear. This is normal for a short period in areas with little humidity; normal for a longer period in very humid areas.

Additional Information
Decommissioning
Before carrying out this procedure, it is essential that the technician is completely familiar with the equipment and all its detail. It is recommended good practice that all refrigerants are recovered safely. Prior to the task being carried out, an oil and refrigerant sample shall be taken in case analysis is required prior to re-use of reclaimed refrigerant. It is essential that electrical power is available before the task is commenced.
a) Become familiar with the equipment and its operation. b) Isolate system electrically. c) Before attempting the procedure, ensure that:
· mechanical handling equipment is available, if required, for handling refrigerant cylinders; · all personal protective equipment is available and being used correctly; · the recovery process is supervised at all times by a competent person; · recovery equipment and cylinders conform to the appropriate standards.
d) Pump down refrigerant system, if possible. e) If a vacuum is not possible, make a manifold so that refrigerant can be removed from various parts of the system. f) Make sure that cylinder is situated on the scales before recovery takes place. g) Start the recovery machine and operate in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. h) Do not overfill cylinders. (No more than 80 % volume liquid charge). i) Do not exceed the maximum working pressure of the cylinder, even temporarily. Labelling
Equipment shall be labelled stating that it has been de-commissioned and emptied of refrigerant. The label shall be dated and signed. For appliances containing FLAMMABLE REFRIGERANTS, ensure that there are labels on the equipment stating the equipment contains flammable refrigerant.
Recovery
When removing refrigerant from a system, either for servicing or decommissioning, it is recommended good practice that all refrigerants are removed safely.When transferring refrigerant into cylinders, ensure that only appropriate refrigerant recovery cylinders are employed. Ensure that the correct number of cylinders for holding the total system charge are available. All cylinders to be used are designated for the recovered refrigerant and labelled for that refrigerant (i.e. special cylinders for the recovery of refrigerant). Cylinders shall be complete with pressurerelief valve and associated shut-off valves in good working order. Empty recovery cylinders are evacuated and, if possible, cooled before recovery occurs. The recovery equipment shall be in good working order with a set of instructions concerning the equipment that is at hand and shall be suitable for the recovery of all appropriate refrigerants including, when applicable, FLAMMABLE REFRIGERANTS. In addition, a set of calibrated weighing scales shall be available and in good working order. Hoses shall be complete with leak-free disconnect couplings and in good condition. Before using the recovery machine, check that it is in satisfactory working order, has been properly maintained and that any associated electrical components are sealed to prevent ignition in the event of a refrigerant release. Consult manufacturer if in doubt. The recovered refrigerant shall be returned to the refrigerant supplier in the correct recovery cylinder, and the relevant waste transfer note arranged. Do not mix refrigerants in recovery units and especially not in cylinders. If compressors or compressor oils are to be removed, ensure that they have been evacuated to an acceptable level to make certain that flammable refrigerant does not remain within the lubricant. The evacuation process shall be carried out prior to returning the compressor to the suppliers. Only electric heating to the compressor body shall be employed to accelerate this process. When oil is drained from a system, it shall be carried out safely.

CÓMO CONECTAR LA ELECTRICIDAD

El acondicionador de aire debería estar siempre conectado a un enchufe específico con un índice de voltaje equivalente al que figura en su etiqueta de características técnicas.
Esto garantiza el mejor funcionamiento y además previene la sobrecarga de los circuitos del hogar, lo cual podría ocasionar riesgos de incendio debido al recalentamiento de cables.
