Setup
Outdoor Use and Care:
The GeodeTM Rock Speakers are designed for outdoor use and can
withstand exposure to the elements. However, it is recommended to
keep the speakers away from direct sunlight and extreme
temperatures to prevent damage to the internal battery.
Charging & Battery Information:
To charge the speakers, connect the micro-USB charging port on
the side panel of the speaker to a USB power adapter (DC 5V 2A, not
included) connected to a power outlet or your computer (powered on)
using the included micro-USB cable. A full charge can take up to 5
hours, depending on the specifications of your 5V, 2A adapter.

Operation
App Control:
The GeodeTM Rock Speakers can be controlled using the ION Sound
XP app, available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
The app allows you to adjust the EQ settings, control the LED
lights, and access additional features.
Bluetooth Connecting with GeodeTM Rock Speakers:
To connect your Bluetooth device to the GeodeTM Rock Speakers,
press and hold the Power/Pairing button on one of the speakers
until the LED indicator flashes rapidly. Then, enable Bluetooth on
your device and select “GeodeTM Rock Speakers” from the list of
available devices. Once connected, you can play audio through both
speakers simultaneously.
Automatic Wireless Stereo-LinkTM:
The GeodeTM Rock Speakers feature Automatic Wireless
Stereo-LinkTM, which allows you to wirelessly connect two speakers
together for stereo sound. To activate this feature, press and hold
the Power/Pairing button on both speakers until they are
connected.

Product Usage Instructions:

Thank you for purchasing the GeodeTM Rock Speakers. At ION, your entertainment is as important to us as it is to you. That’s why we design our products with one thing in mind–to make your life more fun and more convenient. Note: Before you first use the product, please fully charge the batteries. Your unit was purposely shipped with a reduced battery charge to ensure safe transit. For optimal charging, power o the speaker while charging. Use the included micro-USB cable to connect the unit to a 5V, 2A power adapter (not included) connected to a power outlet and let it charge for up to 5 hours (depending on the specifications of your adapter). This helps ensure the longest life for your battery.

SETUP
Outdoor Use and Care
Though GeodeTM Rock Speakers are water-resistant and able to tolerate splashing water, please review the tips below to get the best performance from your GeodeTM Rock Speakers: · Bring GeodeTM Rock Speakers indoors during extreme weather. · Please do not place GeodeTM Rock Speakers in standing water or puddles. · Please do not attempt to charge GeodeTM Rock Speakers in a wet environment. Make sure
the power input, micro-USB cable, power adapter, and power outlet are all completely dry before making any connections. · WARNING: Keep any non-water-resistant devices (phones, music players, etc.) in a dry place where they will not be a ected by water and cause a risk of electric shock.
Charging & Battery Information
Side Panel
For the quickest charging time, power o GeodeTM Rock Speakers and use the included microUSB cable to connect the micro-USB charging port on the side panel of the speaker to a USB power adapter (DC 5V 2A, not included) connected to a power outlet, or your computer (powered on). A full charge can take up to 5 hours, depending on the specifications of your 5V, 2A adapter.
GeodeTM Rock Speakers’ battery life can also be prolonged between charges using the solar panels. When the battery is low, the LED will illuminate red to indicate the speaker is charging from the solar panel. For best results, place GeodeTM Rock Speakers in an area that receives at least 3 hours of direct sunlight a day. The rate of charging depends on the amount of sunlight the solar panels receive. The units will charge slower when receiving indirect sunlight. When the speaker is fully charged, the LED will be o , even if it is left in the sunlight.

Under certain conditions, GeodeTM Rock Speakers will automatically power o to save battery. This will only occur if there is no audio coming from a Bluetooth connection or the aux input. If no Bluetooth device is connected, the speakers will power o after 10 minutes. If Bluetooth is connected but no audio is playing, the speakers will power o after 30 minutes.
Here are some other recommendations for getting the longest life from the internal battery.
General Usage
Fully charge the battery before using it.
Avoid full discharge of the battery if possible. Li-Ion batteries are maintenance-free, and the battery will last longest when operating between 3080% charged.
Do not use the product while charging the battery.
Do not charge the battery in exceedingly hot (greater than 90°F/32°C) or exceedingly cold (less than 32°F/0°C) temperatures.
Storage
For best product longevity, do not store at exceedingly hot (greater than 90°F/32°C) or exceedingly cold (less than 32°F/0°C) temperatures.
For best product longevity, store with a 50% battery charge.
If you leave the battery level low and do not charge it for 6 months, it may permanently lose capacity.
Repair
If the battery fails to charge, contact ION Audio at ionaudio.com.
Disposal
Bring the unit to a recycling center or dispose of in accordance with local ordinances.

A. Status LED This LED will illuminate to indicate the current operation of the GeodeTM Rock Speakers: · Blinking Blue: The speaker is in Bluetooth pairing mode. · Solid Blue: The speaker is connected to a device via Bluetooth, or both speakers are linked and connected. · Red: The battery is low, and the speaker is charging from the solar panel.
B. Power Button Press and hold this button to turn GeodeTM Rock Speakers on and o . You will hear “Power On” and “Power O ” when doing so if voice prompts are enabled. By default, voice prompts are on, and you can turn them o or back on from the ION Sound ControlTM app.
C. Micro-USB Charging Port Connect the micro-USB end of the included cable to GeodeTM Rock Speakers here, then connect the USB-A end to a 5V, 2A USB power adapter (sold separately) and plug it into a power outlet, or your computer (powered on).
D. Aux Input Connect an MP3 or other audio player to GeodeTM Rock Speakers here using a 1/8″ (3.5 mm) auxiliary cable (not included).

OPERATION
App Control
IMPORTANT: To ensure the best possible experience with the app, use the most current Android OS or iOS on your device.
Follow these steps to download the free app on your device: 1. Open the Apple App Store or Google Play on your device. Then, search for the ION Sound
ControlTM app. 2. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the app. Once downloaded, the
ION Sound ControlTM app will appear on your device’s home screen. 3. Connect your device to GeodeTM Rock Speakers via Bluetooth. See Operation > Bluetooth®
Connecting with GeodeTM Rock Speakers to learn how to do this. 4. Open the ION Sound ControlTM app. If prompted, allow the app to access your device’s
Bluetooth and Location Services. 5. Follow the steps on screen to find and connect to your GeodeTM Rock Speakers. Once
connected, you can control various functions of the speaker, such as: · Volume: Adjust the speaker’s volume. · Voice Prompts: Enable or disable the voice prompts (on by default). · Battery Life: Check the speaker’s battery life status. · Support: Visit ionaudio.com, contact Technical Support, and view Warranty information

Bluetooth Connecting with GeodeTM Rock Speakers

1. Turn on one GeodeTM Rock Speaker by pressing and holding the Power button. You will hear “Power On” and “Bluetooth Mode” if voice prompts are enabled. The Status LED will begin flashing blue and the GeodeTM Rock Speaker will automatically enter Bluetooth pairing mode.
2. Navigate to your device’s Bluetooth setup screen, find GEODE ROCK, and connect.
Note: Do not connect to iSP170_BLE; this is reserved exclusively for connecting to the ION Sound ControlTM app. If you experience trouble in connecting, select “Forget this Device” on your Bluetooth device and try to connect again.
3. Once paired, you will hear “Connected” (if voice prompts are enabled) and two beeps, and the Status LED will become solid blue.
4. You can now press play in your music player app of choice on your device.
To disconnect a paired device, turn o Bluetooth from your device’s Bluetooth settings. The speaker will enter Bluetooth pairing mode to make it available for another device. When you disconnect a Bluetooth device, you will hear “Disconnected” if voice prompts are enabled.

To sync both GeodeTM Rock Speakers together:
1. Press and hold the Power button to turn on one speaker. You will hear “Power On” and “Bluetooth Mode” if voice prompts are enabled. This will be the primary speaker.
2. If you are not already connected, pair your Bluetooth device to the primary speaker using the directions above.
3. Power on the second speaker by pressing and holding the Power button.
4. The two speakers will automatically begin searching for each other. Once a connection is established, you will hear “Linked” (if voice prompts are enabled) and the LEDs on both speakers will be lit solid blue.
Note: Speakers should be within 50′ (15 m) of each other to properly link. The closer the speakers are, the faster they will link.
5. You can now begin streaming audio from your Bluetooth device, which will play from both the primary and secondary speakers at the same time.

TROUBLESHOOTING
If the unit is not charging: Make sure the micro-USB charging cable is properly connected to the power input, the power adapter, and the power outlet. If using the solar panel to prolong battery life between charges, make sure the unit is placed in an area that receives at least 3 hours of direct sunlight a day.
If the sound is distorted: Try lowering the volume control of your sound source.
If there is too much bass: Try adjusting the tone or EQ control on your sound source or on GeodeTM Rock Speakers via the ION Sound ControlTM App to lower the bass level. This will allow you to play the music louder before clipping (distortion) occurs.
If you cannot connect your audio device to GeodeTM Rock Speakers via Bluetooth:
· Have your audio device (e.g., smartphone or tablet) and GeodeTM Rock Speakers as close together as possible while trying to connect. Make sure both the audio device and GeodeTM Rock Speakers are unobstructed by walls, furniture, etc.
· Double-press the Bluetooth button to disconnect GeodeTM Rock Speakers from any other audio device and restart the search process. If this does not work right away, power o GeodeTM Rock Speakers and then power it back on. See Operation > Bluetooth® Connecting with GeodeTM Rock Speakers for more information.
· Reset the Bluetooth connection on your audio device by turning Bluetooth o and back on. You can find this under the Bluetooth menu in the Settings for your phone or other audio device.
If this does not work, and you have connected to GeodeTM Rock Speakers before, find GeodeTM Rock Speakers in the list of available or previously connected devices in your audio device’s Bluetooth menu, tap the “gear” or “i” icon located next to it and then select Unpair or Forget. Turn GeodeTM Rock Speakers o and back on and try pairing again once it reappears in your available devices list.
Note: If GeodeTM Rock Speakers have been paired to another audio device recently that is still within range, you may need to repeat this process with that audio device to fully disconnect.
