Rasonic RS-U9YW Air Conditioner

Product Information

The Rasonic Air Conditioner is a model available in three variations: RS-U9YW, RS-U12YW, and RS-U18YW for the indoor unit, and RU-U9YW, RU-U12YW, and RU-U18YW for the outdoor unit. It provides maximum comfort and clean air while optimizing energy savings. The air conditioner comes with a remote control that should be used within 8 meters of the indoor unit’s receiver. The product is designed to be user-friendly and efficient.

Product Usage Instructions

1. Inserting the batteries into the remote control:
   1. Press the “OPEN” button on the remote control.
   2. Pull out the back cover of the remote control.
   3. Confirm the correct orientation of the AAA or R03 batteries.
   4. Insert the batteries into the remote control.
   5. Close the cover of the remote control.
2. Basic operation:
   1. Press the power button to start or stop the operation.
   2. Use the mode selection button (.0%&) to choose the desired mode.

Basic operation

• Press to start/stop the operation.
  Please note that the OFF   indication  is on display to start the unit.
• Press to select the desired mode.
  
• Select the desired temperature.
  Selection range: 16.0 °C ~ 30.0 °C /

WARNING
Indoor unit and outdoor unit

• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• Please consult an authorized dealer or specialist to clean the internal parts, repair, install, remove, disassemble and reinstall the unit. Improper installation and handling will cause leakage, electric shock or re.
• Confirm with authorized dealer or specialist on usage of any specified refrigerant type. Using refrigerant type other than the specified may cause product damage, burst and injury etc.
• Do not use means to accelerate the defrosting process or to clean, other than those recommended by manufacturer. Any un t method or using incompatible material may cause product damage, burst and serious injury.
• Do not install the unit in a potentially explosive or flammable atmosphere. Failure to do so could result in re.
• Do not insert your fingers or other objects into the air conditioner indoor or outdoor unit, rotating parts may cause injury.
• Do not touch the outdoor unit during lightning, it may cause electric shock.
• Do not expose yourself directly to cold air for a long period to avoid excess cooling.
• Do not sit or step on the unit, you may fall down accidentally.

Remote control

• Do not allow infants and small children to play with the remote control to prevent them from accidentally swallowing the batteries.

Power supply

• Do not use a modified cord, joint cord, extension cord or unspecified cord to prevent overheating and re.

To prevent overheating, re or electric shock:

• Do not share the same power outlet with other equipment.
• Do not operate with wet hands.
• Do not over bend the power supply cord.
• Do not operate or stop the unit by inserting or pulling out the power plug.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
• It is strongly recommended to be installed with Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB) or Residual Current Device (RCD) to prevent electric shock or re.
• Stop using the product if any abnormality/failure occurs and disconnect the power plug or turn off the power switch and breaker. (Risk of smoke/ re/electric shock) Examples of abnormality/failure
• The ELCB trips frequently.
• Burning smell is observed.
• Abnormal noise or vibration of the unit is observed.
• Water leaks from the indoor unit.
• Power cord or plug becomes abnormally hot.
• Fan speed cannot be controlled.
• The unit stops running immediately even if it is switched on for operation.
• The fan does not stop even if the operation is stopped.
  Contact your local dealer immediately for maintenance/repair.

Replacement or installation of power plugs shall be performed by authorized/qualified personnel only. The wires in this mains lead are cultured in accordance with the following code:

Wiring color may vary depending on a country wiring code’s standard.

• This equipment must be earthed to prevent electrical shock or re.
• Prevent electric shock by switching off the power supply and unplug:
  • Before cleaning or servicing,
  • When extended non-use, or
  • During abnormally strong lightning activity.

CAUTION
Indoor unit and outdoor unit
Do not wash the indoor unit with water, benzine, thinner or scouring powder to avoid damage or corrosion at the unit.

• Do not use for preservation of precise equipment, food, animals, plants, artwork or other objects. This may cause quality deterioration, etc.
• Do not use any combustible equipment in front of the air ow outlet to avoid re propagation.
• Do not expose plants or pet directly to air ow to avoid injury, etc.
• Do not touch the sharp aluminum  sharp parts may cause injury.
• Do not switch ON the indoor unit when waxing the floor. After waxing, aerate the room properly before operating the unit.
• Do not install the unit in oily and smoky areas to prevent damage to the unit.
• Do not dismantle the unit for cleaning purpose to avoid injury.
• Do not step onto an unstable bench when cleaning the unit to avoid injury.
• Do not place a vase or water container on the unit. Water may enter the unit and degrade the insulation. This may cause an electric shock.
• Do not open window or door for long time during operation, it may lead to inef cient power usage and uncomfortable temperature changes.
• Prevent water leakage by ensuring drainage pipe is:
  • Connected properly,
  • Kept clear of gutters and containers, or
  • Not immersed in water
• After a long period of use or use with any combustible equipment, aerate the room regularly.
• After a long period of use, make sure the installation bolts and nuts does not deteriorate to prevent the unit from falling down.

Remote control
Do not use rechargeable (Ni-Cd) batteries. It may damage the remote control.
To prevent malfunction or damage of the remote control:

• Remove the batteries if the unit is not going to be used for a long period of time.
• New batteries of the same type must be inserted following the polarity stated.

Power supply
Do not disconnect the plug by pulling the cord to prevent electric shock.

How to use

To adjust airflow direction 

Upper direction:

• Do not adjust the flap by hand. Lateral direction:
• For lateral direction, it is manually adjustable as shown.

When adjust of the left and right air deflectors, please push the rod to the le or right.

To adjust FAN SPEED and QUIET condition

FAN SPEED: 

• For AUTO, the indoor fan speed is automatically adjusted according to the operation mode.

QUIET:

• This operation reduces airflow noise.

When using POWERFUL

POWERFUL:
To reach set temperature quickly

•  This function needs to be manually turned on or off.

To maximize comfort while sleeping

• Press Sleeping mode button(Air-con panel sleeping light will be on). The unit starts sleeping mode.
• Press again to cancel sleeping mode.
• After sleeping mode is on, only the sleeping light on indicates the function is activated.
• During the sleeping mode, in order to prevent over-cooling and over-heating, the temperature, air volume and wind direction are not related to remote control setting, it will be automatically adjusted, users can reset the temperature and air volume if it didn’t meet their demand.

To set the timer
2 sets of ON and OFF timers are available to turn ON or OFF the unit at different preset time.

•  To cancel or timer, press or to select respective 1 or 2 then press .
• If timer is cancelled manually or due to power failure, you can restore the timer again by pressing or to select respective 1 or 2 then press .
• The nearest timer setting will be displayed and will activate in sequence.
• Timer operation is based on the clock set in the remote control and repeats daily once set. For clock setting, please refer to Quick Guide.

Note

• Can be selected at the same time.
• Can be activated in all modes.
• Can be cancelled by pressing the respective button again.

• POWERFUL, QUIET and FAN SPEED cannot be selected at the same time.

Operation mode

• AUTO : During operation, the POWER indicator will blinks at initial. Unit selects operation mode every 10 minutes according to the setting and room temperature.
• COOL : Provides effi cient comfort cooling to suit your needs.
• DRY : Unit operates at low fan speed to give a gentle cooling operation.

Energy saving temperature setting
Operating the unit within the recommended temperature range may save energy.

COOL : 26.0 °C ~ 28.0 °C / 79 °F ~ 82 °F.

Air flow direction
In COOL/DRY mode:
If AUTO is set, the flaps swings up/down automatically.

Auto restart control
If power is resumed after a power failure, the operation will restart automatically after a period of time with previous operation mode and airflow direction.

• This control is not applicable when TIMER is set.

Operating conditions
Use this air conditioner in the temperature range indicated in the table.

DBT: Dry bulb temperature, WBT: Wet bulb temperature

Maintenance and Checking (Cleaning and maintenance of the filter)

Caution

• Please stop operation and turn off the NFB before cleaning the unit.
• Please do not wash the unit with water directly.

Method of Removing the Air Filter and Panel

Procedure of removing the air filter

• Open the front panel to horizontal position. (Please do not pull too hard, or might break the front panel)
• Remove the air filter.

Procedure of removing the front panel

• Open the front panel to horizontal position. (Please do not pull too hard, or might break the front panel) ( Lift the front panel to the left.
• Raise the right side of the front panel and draw it out.
• Lift the front panel to the right.
• Raise the left side of the front panel. Afterwards, it can be removed.

Procedure of the front panel re-insertion

• Make the front panel to horizontal position. Make the panel force arm inside and slot the front panel fulcrum and unit supporting part together.
  
• Push the front panel downwards and close it. (Gently push left, right and bottom center)
  

Maintenance of the Unit and Remote Controller

Cleaning of Air Filter and Nanoe-G

• Please wipe with soft cloth
• Avoid using items as listed below. Do not use hot water (above 40°C), volatile solvent such as diluting agent and putty-powder. (Please follow the caution items while using chemical cloths.
• Do not wash the front panel with water directly.

Cleaning of Air Filter and Nanoe-G

• When the unit display panel “Air filter cleaning” indicator flash or is on.
• Vacuum dust from the air filter. For special stain, gently wash it (prevent filter breakage) with neutral detergent and let it dry in the shade. Please avoid direct sunlight.
• Do not wash the air filter with chemical agent or hot water.

• When the air filter is broken (please replace it immediately.) or need replacement, please contact our dealers or services sites

Cleaning instructions

Caution
Please turn off the NFB for long off period.

Checking before operational season

Is there cold air?
Operate the air-con for 15 min. It’s normal if the temperature difference of indoor unit outlet and intake vent is more than 8oC of cold air.

Is there blocking in front of outlet and intake vent?

Is the remote controller battery replaced?
Please replace the battery as soon as possible when the display part of remote controller is blurred.

Long Off Period

1. In the cooling mode, remote control is set to 30 degrees (the indoor unit is supplying air at this time), the air volume is adjusted to a strong speed, and it runs for more than 1 hour to dry the unit.
2. Stop air-con operation and turn off the NFB.
3. Take out the battery from the  remote  controller.

Notice of Checking Equipment

• There will be dust inside the unit after annual usage and will reduce performance.
• It may stink depends on usage conditions, or poor drainage caused by trash or dust accumulation.

Besides general maintenance, we suggest you check the equipment regularly. For details such as expenses, please directly contact affiliated services sites or dealers.

Troubleshooting

The following symptoms do not indicate malfunction.

Check the following before calling for servicing.

When the remote controller is unavailable
Press “Stop/Start” button to operate the unit when the battery is running down or the remote controller is missing. It’s AUTO mode operation at this time.

Operation procedure 

•  Press “Stop/Start” button to operate the unit.
• Press again “Stop/Start” button to stop the unit.
• Control method of “Stop/Start” button

:press and hold the button : release the button

The indicators are too bright

•  To dim or restore the unit’s indicator brightness, press and hold for 5 seconds.

Conducting a seasonal inspection after extended non-use

• Check the remote control batteries.
• Check that there is no obstruction around the air inlet and outlet vents.
• Use Auto OFF/ON button to select COOL operation. After 15 minutes of operation, it is normal to have the following temperature difference between the air inlet and outlet vents: COOL: ≥ 8 °C / 14.4 °F

NON SERVICEABLE CRITERIAS
TURN OFF THE POWER SUPPLY AND UNPLUG then please consult an authorized dealer when in following conditions:

• Abnormal noise during operation.
• Water/foreign particles have entered the remote control.
• Water leaks from Indoor unit.
• Circuit breaker switches off frequently.
• Power cord becomes unnaturally warm.
• Switches or buttons are not functioning properly.

How to retrieve error codes
If the unit stops and the TIMER indicator blinks, use the remote control to retrieve the error code.

For certain errors, you may restart the unit for limited operation if there are 4 beeps when operation starts.
