The Pro Tools | Carbon is a professional audio interface
designed to capture brilliance in your recordings. It offers
maximum performance with a hybrid system that combines onboard HDX
DSP and native CPU power. With near-zero latency and real-time AAX
DSP plugin processing, you can create polished cue mixes and track
flawlessly. The interface features up to 32-bit/192 kHz audio
conversion, double precision clocking, and transparent mic preamp
design for capturing every performance detail.
Pro Tools | Carbon comes with Pro Tools Ultimate software, which
includes thousands of instrument sounds, studio-staple effects, and
sound processors. Additionally, it offers a special pack of premium
plugins from Arturia McDSP, Plugin Alliance, UVI, Native
Instruments, and more to expand your sonic possibilities. The
interface provides 25 x 34 simultaneous channels of I/O, including
four headphone outs, and can be expanded with up to 24 mic/line
inputs and line outputs using the Carbon Pre.
The Pro Tools | Carbon Pre is an audio interface that can be
used in conjunction with the Pro Tools | Carbon interface to expand
your I/O capabilities. It offers 24 x 24 simultaneous channels of
I/O and includes 8 mic preamps with +48V phantom power. The Carbon
Pre does not have integrated monitoring and talkback
capabilities.
Product Usage Instructions
- Connect the Pro Tools | Carbon interface to your computer using
the provided Ethernet cable. - If you want to expand your I/O capabilities, connect the Pro
Tools | Carbon Pre interface to the Pro Tools | Carbon interface
using the AVB Ethernet ports. - Plug in the power cables for both the Pro Tools | Carbon and
Pro Tools | Carbon Pre interfaces. - If you want to mount the interfaces, use the provided rackmount
screws and desktop feet. - Launch the Pro Tools Ultimate software on your computer.
- Configure your audio settings in Pro Tools to utilize the Pro
Tools | Carbon interface for recording and playback. - If desired, toggle any track from native to DSP processing mode
in Pro Tools to free up your CPU cores for virtual instruments and
creative mixing. - Connect your microphones, instruments, or line-level sources to
the appropriate inputs on the Pro Tools | Carbon interface. - Adjust the input levels using the controllable XLR/TRS mic/line
inputs or unbalanced Variable Z 1/4-inch TS instrument inputs. - Connect your speakers or headphones to the analog outputs of
the Pro Tools | Carbon interface for monitoring. - Use the Pro Tools Ultimate software to create, record, edit,
and mix professional-quality music.

Pro Tools | Carbon is fully integrated with Pro Tools, enabling you to record, edit, and mix in a single application without having to bounce between software. The patented Hybrid Engine takes advantage of your host computer’s power for mixing and processing while using the HDX DSPs in Carbon for near-zero latency recording. Toggle any track into DSP mode, and the Hybrid Engine seamlessly moves your entire live signal path to use real-time AAX DSP plugins for recording. Toggle a track back, and the Hybrid Engine automatically switches to use the AAX Native versions of your plugins, giving you the freedom to adjust plugin parameters as the track evolves.
