BEFORE USING THE DEVICE, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY AND CAREFULLY. CORRECT APPLICATION IS VITAL TO THE PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE DEVICE.

INTENDED USER PROFILE
The intended user should be a licensed medical professional, the patient, or the patient’s caregiver.
The user should be able to read, understand and be physically capable of performing the directions, warnings, and cautions in the information for use.

INTENDED USE/INDICATIONS

ActyFoot™ is designed to provide support, stabilization, and partial immobilization (restriction of movement) of the ankle.

  • Acute lateral ligament injuries
  • Acute ankle sprains and ligament ruptures
  • Prevention of further injuries in pre-operative chronic ankle instability
  • Protection of ankle joint

Performance characteristics:
Providing support and stabilization to the limb or body segment.
Providing partial immobilization or controlled movement to the limb or body segment.
Providing mild protection of a limb or body segment for acute and prophylactic care.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • Do not use if you are allergic to any of the materials contained within this product
  • Peripheral arterial diseases
  • Impaired blood flow in the leg (e.g. with diabetes mellitus)
  • Impaired lymphatic drainage or soft tissue swelling of unknown origin

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

  • The product is intended for single-patient use only.
  • We recommend that the first application be made under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
  • The frequency and duration of use should be determined by your healthcare professional.
  • If you have skin disorders/injuries in the relevant part of the body, the product should be fitted and worn only after consultation with a medical professional.
  • Do not fit the ActyFoot™ too tightly, as this could lead to local pressure symptoms.
  • Do not apply to open wounds.
  • If a patient experiences any pain, swelling, sensation changes, or any unusual reactions while using this product, consult a healthcare professional immediately.
  • It is not recommended to drive while wearing the brace as your ability to brake may be impaired.

Note: Contact the manufacturer and the competent authority in case of a serious incident arising due to the usage of this device.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

The product is designed to be worn during normal everyday activities and sports.
It can be worn over a sock.
For additional support and optimal stabilization, we recommend wearing a closed shoe with the brace.
Hook and loop fasteners are marked with symbols to help fasten the straps in the correct position.
The footprint symbol on the inside of the brace indicates which ankle it goes on (left or right).

With the lateral stay

  1. Unfasten the straps, remove the lateral stay and open the brace.
  2. Slide your foot into the back of the brace. The rigid part should be against the inside of the leg.
  3. Fasten the hooks of the forefoot strap (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 4) to the loops of the rigid part (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 4).
    The strap should be fastened tightly while remaining comfortable.
  4. a. Guide the calf strap around the back of the leg and fasten it to the top of the rigid part of the brace using the hook and loop fasteners (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 5).
    4b. Using the hook and loop fasteners, first attach the bottom part of the lateral stay (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 6) to the bottom of the brace,  followed by the top part of the lateral stay (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 6) to the top of the brace.
  5. Wrap the calf strap around the leg and fasten it to itself (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 7).
  6. Pull the anti-supination strap diagonally across the instep and fasten it to the calf strap at the top of the brace (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 8).
    The strap should be fastened tight enough to avoid supination movements.

Without the lateral stay

  1. Unfasten the straps, remove the lateral stay and open the brace.
  2. Slide your foot into the back of the brace. The rigid part should be against the inside of the leg.
  3. Fasten the hooks of the forefoot strap (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 4) to the loops of the rigid part (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 4).
    The strap should be fastened tightly while remaining comfortable.
  4. Guide the calf strap around the back of the leg and fasten it to the top of the rigid part of the brace using the hook and loop fasteners (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 5).
  5. Wrap the rest of the calf strap around the leg and fasten it to itself (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 7).
  6. Pull the anti-supination strap diagonally across the instep and fasten it to the calf strap at the top of the brace (DJO AirCast Advanced Ankle Support for Sprains and Strains - ICON 8).
    The strap should be fastened tight enough to avoid supination movements.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Hand wash (30°C max) with mild detergent.
Do not bleach. Rinse thoroughly. Air dry. Do not machine dry. Do not dry clean. Do not iron.
