Dear Customers

The pest repeller makes use of the excellent hearing of moles. The sound waves it emits are effective against various underground rodents such as moles, voles or shrews. The sound emissions signal danger to the animals and cause them to flee the area.

This operating instruction contains important details for handling the unit. Please pass it on along with the unit if it is handed over to a third party! Please read all safety instructions!
These instructions will make it easier for you to handle the unit and help prevent misunderstandings and possible damage or injury.

Safety Notes

Symbols Please note the following safety notes to avoid malfunctions, damage or physical injury:

  •  The pest repeller is not a toy. Do not allow children to play with this article.
  • Do not leave packaging material and bags in the range of
children. Plastic bags etc. may become dangerous toys for children.
  • The unit is designed for private application. It is not suitable for commercial purposes.
  • The pest repeller is splash-proof (IPX4). It must not be placed directly in water (e.g., in garden ponds, puddles, etc.).
  • Do not expose the unit to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations, strong mechanical stresses or strong magnetic fields.
  • Do not disassemble, burn, or short-circuit rechargeable batteries.
  • Do not use the solar lights exclusively as sole light source for pathways or similar. In dark, complex areas, it is advisable to install a separate, powerful light source, which is controlled by a motion sensor and a twilight switch.
  • Please operate the unit only with one rechargeable battery of the type Li-Ion ICR 18650, 3.7 V, 1200 mAh.
  • Do not stare directly into the LED and do not direct the light beam towards people or animals. Do not use devices which can strongly focus light for viewing the light beam.
  • Batteries may be life threatening if swallowed. Therefore, keep the batteries out of the reach of children.
  • Should a battery be swallowed, seek medical help immediately.
  • If a battery has leaked, avoid contact of the battery acid with skin, eyes and mucous membranes. In case of contact with battery acid, rinse the affected area immediately with plenty of clean water and seek immediate medical attention.
  • Immediately remove a leaking battery from the battery compartment. Clean the contacts before inserting a new battery.
  • Do not disassemble the unit; it does not contain parts serviceable by you. Do not attempt to repair the unit yourself. In case of questions or problems please turn to our customer service.

Operation

Intended Use

  • The product is used as a solar-powered pest repeller and as a decorative solar lamp for gardens or terraces. The intended use of the solar pest repeller is keeping away moles, voles and mice from garden, fields and other outdoor areas. It generates sounds in random intervals within a frequency range of 400 Hz – 1000 Hz.
  • The article can cover an effective free area of approx. 800 m² (depending on the condition of the soil).
  • Do not operate the device exclusively as sole light source for pathways or similar.
  • The solar light is designed for domestic use, and is not for use in commercial premises. Any use other than that described above is not permitted.

Selecting the Location

  • The pest repeller works in a radius of 16 meters. Thus, the
protected area is approx. 800 m2. To allow the unit to operate efficiently, make sure no obstructions are around the protected area. For best results, it is advisable to install two pest repellers that way so the operational ranges overlap.
  • Place the pest repeller close to the worst rodent infestation.
  • Find a suitable location which provides direct sunlight for several hours a day to install the unit. Direct sunlight for several hours a day is ideal to charge the built-in battery of the unit. This way the unit can be operated continuously. Do not position it under bushes, trees, porches, etc.

Operation

  1. If present, peel off the transport protection foil from the solar panel (1).
  2. Either charge the built-in battery before first use via sun light. For doing this, connect both USB plugs (4) together and position the solar panel outdoors and make sure direct sunlight shines on the solar panel (1). Or, connect the USB plug of the solar light with a power source (e.g. USB port of a PC, Laptop or a USB charger). Charge the built-in battery for at least 2 – 4 hours.
  3. For operating the device, press the function switch, situated on the housing (2) in order to get the below mentioned functions::
    Operation Instruction

Pressing once =
You will hear a confirmation sound for approx. 2 seconds and the LEDs will turn on in the dark. The solar pest repeller is now ready for operation. The device will generate loud sounds at various time intervals in order to scare burrowing animals.

Pressing twice =
The device will not sound but the LEDs will remain on in the dark.

Pressing three times =
You will switch off the device.

Hints:

  • At random intervals you will hear sounds that indicates that the unit is working properly. Check the function of the unit regularly.
  • The device is designed to resist the elements and is thus protected against dampness; it should not, however, be directly subjected to wetness or placed directly in water.
  • The performance of the solar lamp varies according to the season, and the duration and intensity of the sunlight reaching it. The solar panel mounted in the upper part of the housing charges the built-in battery and ensures continuous operation during day, night and cloudy weather.
  • In long periods of insufficient sunshine, the battery may not charge up sufficiently to allow the device to operate properly.
  • Take care that the solar panel does not become dirty and that it is kept free of snow and ice in winter. Otherwise, the performance of the solar panel could be affected. Cold temperatures affect the service life of the battery adversely. If you do not require the device for a longer period of time, for example in winter, clean it, and store it in a warm, dry area.

Setting the Pole

  1. Insert the stake (6) into the aluminium tube (5) and then insert the pole vertically at least up the half into the soil.
  2. Do not beat with a hammer or similar on the pest repeller.
    • Depending on the soil the pole can be set with or without drilling a pilot hole with a depth of 20 cm.
    • Do not operate the device in frozen ground or irrigated locations.
    • Effectiveness of the product depends largely upon soil type. Moist clay is the best conductor of sound; dry, sandy or peat soil does not conduct the sonic waves as easily.
    • The best performance with the pest repeller will be achieved after operating the device for up to 7 days continuously. The ground rodents need some time to recognize the pest repeller as a disturbing object and start to move away from this area.

Cleaning and Storing

  • The pest repeller is splash-proof (IPX4), but not water jet proof or water-tight. Please remove the pest repeller when using highpressure cleaner in the vicinity of the repeller or when flooding is expected.
  • To avoid damages due to freezing, remove the pest repeller in winter.
  • Wipe the housing with a lightly moistened cloth. Do not immerse the device in water or any other liquid.
  • Do not clean the device with aggressive chemicals or abrasives in order not to damage the surface.
