Safety Information

Prevent personal injury, fire and product damage.
warning 2 To avoid personal injury and to prevent fire or damage to this product or products con-nected to it, review and comply with the following safety precautions. Be aware that if you use this probe assembly in a manner not specified the protection this product provides may be impaired. Only qualified personnel should use this probe assembly.
SP Tools Digital Multimeter Electrical SP62012 - Earth ground Use only grounded instruments.
Do not connect the probe ground lead to a potential other than earth ground. Always make sure the probe and the measurement instrument are grounded properly.
Connect and disconnect properly.
Connect the probe output to the measurement instrument and connect the ground lead to earth ground before connecting the probe to the circuit under test. Disconnect the probe input and the probe ground lead from the circuit under test before disconnecting the probe from the measurement instrument.
Electric Warning Icon Observe probe and probe accessory ratings.
Do not apply any electrical potential to the probe input which exceeds the maximum ratings of the probe or the accessories connected to it. In a combination always the lower rating / measurement category applies to both probe and accessories connected to it.
Electric Warning Icon Keep away from hazardous live circuits.
Avoid open circuitry. Do not touch connections or components when power is present.
Do not operate with suspected failures.
Refer to qualified service personnel.
Indoor use only.
Do not operate in wet or damp environment. Keep the product dry and clean.
Do not operate the product in an explosive atmosphere.

About Sonic 4000

The Sonic 4000 active probe offers best-in-class performance and is easy to use to make in-circuit measurements.
With the Sonic 4000’s DC to > 4 GHz bandwidth, high input impedance, low noise and ± 8 V dynamic range makes it the ideal probe to use with any oscilloscope or other 50 Ω measurement system. Sonic 4000’s ± 12 V input offset capability extends the input voltage range of the probe. The input capacitance of < 0.6 pF parallel 2 MΩ between probe tip and probe reference (1 MΩ to the oscilloscope ground) provides the  highest impedance in its class to allow the probing of sensitive circuits without adversely loading the circuit under test.
PMK SONIC 4000 Robust Active Probe - measurements

The high impedance probe tip reference connection is a key feature of the Sonic 4000. Unlike traditional single-ended probes, with their probe tip reference connected to earth ground that can damage the customer’s circuit if it is accidentally connected to any non-ground test point, the probe tip reference impedance to earth ground is 1 MΩ. This feature allows for safe in-circuit browsing of an energized circuit without the possibility for shorting the probe tip reference connection directly to earth ground.PMK SONIC 4000 Robust Active Probe - impedance probe

The Sonic 4000 active probe uses a PMK custom high speed FET input amplifier with active cladding wave compensation to provide a superior high frequency response as  well as a low noise and low distortion to accurately measure the customer signals.

Input Impedance referred to Probe Ground

warning 2 The input impedance of the probe decreases as the frequency of the applied signal increases.
The high impedance probe tip reference connection allows safe in-circuit browsing of an energized circuit without the possibility for shorting the probe tip reference connection directly to earth ground to prevent damage of the probe.
