8 inch is correct. These are good units. So far we are happy with them. They have been installed in the company bathrooms. 4 units serving about 65 people. No problems so far except when they run out and we need to put a new roll in. The rolls go in nicely but it is not as easy as putting out a new roll of the standard paper towels. Still much better than going through rolls and rolls of the standard paper towels.

I like electronic but after I have this I prefer manual so no noise at night. I use kimberly paper of pricesmart its work very good and it´s strong and the price is similar to other brands. You can use other brand with same dimensions be shure it is strong.

The tube size is the main thing (1-1/2″) and my rolls were 8 inches by 8 inches. So if the roll is 8 inches wide and has a center-core size of 1-1/2 inches, it should work.
This is the 09990 model (Kimberly-Clark Professional Sanitouch Hard Roll Towel Dispenser) which has a 1.5″ core/hub. Please note that the 09996 model (Sanitouch™ Hard Roll Towel Dispenser) has the exact same outer dimensions has a 1.75″ core/hub.
