1. WASH HANDS Wash your hands and the patient’s hands with soap, then dry.
2. TURN ANALYZER ON Hold finger on power button to turn analyzer on.
3. TAP TEST BUTTON Tap Test button to begin. Wear a new pair of gloves for each test.
4. PATIENT ID Enter Patient ID by barcode (tap the on-screen barcode button) or on-screen keyboard.
5. GET STRIP Take out strip, then close vial firmly so the lid clicks.
6. SCAN STRIP Tap the on-screen barcode button to scan. Hold the barcode 10 cm (4 inches) from bottom of analyzer.
7. INSERT STRIP Insert strip when prompted. Insert with arrows pointing towards analyzer.
8. SCAN VIAL NOTE: This step only happens if you are using a new strip lot.
9. WAIT Wait for analyzer to prepare.
10. OBTAIN SAMPLE Clean the finger with alcohol swab. Lance the finger (avoid fingers that have evidence of previous lancing).
IMPORTANT: Wipe first drop with sterile gauze, use second drop.
11. APPLY SAMPLE Apply within 30 secs of fingerstick. Sample must fill whole of white semicircle.
12. WAIT Wait for analysis to complete.
13. RESULT Tap the units button to change units. Tap the exit button (bottom left) to continue.
14. EJECT STRIP Eject strip as shown above. All materials must go in a biohazard bin.
15. CLEAN ANALYZER Turn over this sheet for cleaning instructions.
Cleaning your analyzer
WARNINGS & GUIDANCE:
- Always wear gloves when cleaning – the analyzer might be contaminated
- Clean after each and every test to ensure the analyzer is always safe to use
- Use only CaviWipes™ (to avoid damaging your analyzer)
- Make sure the CaviWipe™ is damp (not dripping): always squeeze out excess liquid into a biohazard bin
- Never let fluid gather around or enter the strip port – always keep the strip port pointing downwards during cleaning
- Before cleaning, disconnect the USB cable (if connected)
A. TURN ANALYZER OFF Hold finger on power button and select power down to turn analyzer off.
B. QUICK WIPE OF ANALYZER Use a fresh CaviWipe™ and then dispose of the wipe.
C. REMOVE STRIP PORT COVER
D. THOROUGHLY CLEAN ANALYZER Use a fresh CaviWipem – squeeze or twist to remove excess liquid (damp not dripping). Do four vertical and four horizontal strokes on each surface (two up and down; two left and right)
E. CLEAN STRIP PORT COVER Pay special attention to strip port and channels inside cover.
F. WAIT 2 MINUTES IMPORTANT: The disinfecting properties of CaviWipes™ need this time to take effect
G. DRY ANALYZER AND STRIP PORT. Dry the whole analyzer and strip port cover using a lint free tissue/cloth. Use the same motions as Step D paying special attention to areas where fluid can gather.
H. REASSEMBLE STRIP PORT COVER
