Are these loud enough without an amp?
Yes. Lst pair of headphones I had I could turn all the way up and they would still feel quieter than I wanted. I have these at roughly sixty percent
system volume and it’s almost too loud for me already. These can definitely pump out some decibels.
Will the jack at the end of the 9-foot cable plug into a headphone amp? Don’t use these for my computer.
That should work for you.
Is it normal for the headband to stretch?
These hurt sent them back and got the DT 770 Pro and never looked back!
Are these wireless to desktops or do you have to buy a desktop Bluetooth adapter?
There is no way to make them wireless (to my understanding anyways). They are very similar to the beats (the wired ones) as in you connect one end of an aux cable to the headset and the other to the device.
how long will these last with constant use
These will last for a very long time without getting worn out DEPENDING on how you treat them so as long as you’re not dropping these on
concrete or hard items and your not grinding the ear pads than you should be fine.
Is the treble boosted/annoying?
This is the wirecutters number 2 pick in the category best headphones under 200 dollars. According to them, it does have boosted bass and treble. On the other hand, they do not recommend the extremely popular m50x.
Does anyone know how long the 2 diff size cords are? Coiled & straight.
YES and NO.
The cord is detachable. However the 2.5mm connection on the headphones has a proprietary latch, to prevent accidental removal. It twists slightly to the right to lock in. With that said, Audio-Technica does have three cables that work with the ATH-M40x. It ships with two, and a third short strait cable is available, that also comes with the ATH-M50x. This is sort of an iPod/iPhone cable. It does not have the threads for the larger 1/4 inch adaptor.
how comfortable are at m40x with glasses?
The coiled cable is 1.2 meters long without being stretched. The straight cable is 3 meters long.
Does this headphone need an amp for cellphones? Will an amp Help?
Not comfortable. The fit was too tight and ended up pinching my head.
Looking for very low clamping force. Will these work?
It does not need an amp unless you require ear-splitting loud audio. If you tend to like very bass-heavy sound, then an amp will help
Is the input on the headphones for the audio cable 2.5mm or 3.5? I’m asking because I want to use V-MODA BoomPro with them
You would be happier with Phillips SHP9500. They are open back, but the clamping force is low and still covers ears
