Fab Lab Hair Flair Deluxe Instructions (+ PDF)

Only for use by children over 8 years old.
Not suitable for children under 36 months due to small parts that may represent a choking hazard. Adult supervision is recommended. Read the instructions before use, follow them and keep them for reference.
We recommend testing by applying Hairlights to a small area of skin on the arm and leaving for’ an hour before applying to the hair. If
the Hairlights causes redness, inflammation, or soreness, wash off immediately and do not apply Hairlights to your hair.
Do not apply close to the eyes or mouth.
Do not swallow or inhale the contents. Use contents within 6 months of opening the individual containers.
In case of an adverse reaction, wash off immediately with soap and water, and rinse the affected area well with plenty of clean water. If swallowed: Do not induce vomiting. Drink some fresh water and seek medical advice should you suffer any symptoms. In case of eye contact: Wash out eye with plenty of water, holding eye open. Seek immediate medical advice. Clean any spills with kitchen paper and clean water. Dispose of any surplus materials in the household waste.

Advice for supervising adults:
This toy is for use only for children over the age of 8 years. Read and follow these instructions, the safety rules and the first aid information and keep them for reference. Incorrect use of chemicals can cause injury and damage to health. Only carry out those activities which are listed in the instructions. Because children’s abilities vary so much, even within age groups, supervising adults should exercise discretion as to which activities are suitable and safe for them The instructions should enable supervisors to assess any activity to establish its suitability for a particular child. The supervising adult should discuss the warnings, safety information and the possible hazards with the child or children before commencing the activities. The area surrounding the activity should be kept clear of any obstructions and away from the storage of food. It should be well lit and ventilated and close to a water supply. The working area should be cleaned immediately after carrying out the activity.

Applying Hair lights

Choose colours which contrast with your hair. If you have very dark hair, lighter colours will stand out more, whereas darker colours will stand out better in blonde hair. Although the Hairlights product will wash out of your hair easily, it can stain the skin, so always wear the gloves provided when handling the colours.

It is best to apply Hairlights little by little, so select a small section of hair and separate it with a hairdresser’s clip. Once you’ve chosen your desired colour push the Hairlight out of the palette from the bottom, taking care when doing so.

Slot this into the applicator.

Gently clench the applicator over the length of hair you want to colour and pull it down the section, always moving from top to bottom.

To get a more vibrant result repeat this process several times.
When finished with that colour, keep your Hairlight safe by transferring it back to the palette.

PLAITING

To create a cute double braid hairstyle, start by parting your hair in the middle to separate it into two sections. Tie back one section which will be used later.

Focusing on the first section, hook the plaiting tool into the centre of this and hold in place with your hair. Take a section of hair from the left side of the tool, cross it over and slide into the first loop.. To create really cool braids, why not add streaks of colour to your hair before plaiting or dip dye to the ends afterwards?

Next, take a new section from the right side and, again, cross it over the tool and slide it into the loop below the first. Return back to the left side and repeat these steps until your hair covers the entire plaiting tool. Tie off the braid with one of the hair bands.

Hair Bun

To make fun, quirky space buns, split your hair evenly into two sections by using a brush to smooth your hair out and pull into two high ponytails.

Pull your first ponytail through the bun tool which should sit at the top of your head, then separate your hair with your fingers to fan out and cover the tool.

Next grab the ends of your hair and wrap it around the tool whilst pushing it underneath to form the bun. Finally tie a hair band around your hair and the tool

To really look out of this world why not colour each ponytail with your Hairlights first and then form your buns?

DIP DYE

To create multi-colour dip dye in your hair, start at the bottom of your hair. Put the hairdresser’s clips where you want your first colour to start, about 4 – 5 cm from the bottom of your hair works well.
Apply the first colour, covering all the strands with colour, then move the clips to where you want the second colour to begin and colour the hair between the clips and the second colour.
0nce you have covered all the hair in the second colour, move the clips up again to where you want your third colour to start.

Colour this section between the the clips and the second colour evenly. Get a friend to help if you have trouble reaching the back!

Fab Recommendations

You can curl or straighten tour hair either before or after applying colour. Hair spray can be applied over Hairlights to help maintain the colour in your hair until you wash it out.

Removing Hairlghts

Hairlights will wash out of your hair using normal hair shampoo and warm water.
